- It took all of my strength to edit this but I managed to get it done! I am still in recovery with pneumonia and after these days in the vlog I ended up exhausting myself so stayed in bed for four days after Xmas. I am starting to think I should have stayed in Japan. Haha! Either way. I enjoyed seeing everyone. One thing I am feeling is homesickness for Japan. I can't wait to get back into a routine again!
I hope this vlog was satisfying but I am feeling like the vlogs back home aren't as great as the vlogs I make in Japan. I am feeling very unmotivated with a lack of creative juices. It's surprisingly depressing. I need to get back on track again!

Anyway friend, its lovely to see a familiar sight in your vlogs. As more than just a delightful novelty - I know someone in the world sees Michigan as an odd, exotic place too. I totally understand your homesickness for Japan and your reaction to coming back home and it not feeling like home anymore.
I moved to Australia in 1994, and for the first year and a bit I was extremely homesick.
Then I came back to Northern California after 2 years away, to visit my family, walked into a target store, and nearly had a panic attack because it was so big, I didn’t know where to start.
It was then I realized I missed Australia, and that it was home.
I’ve always said the 2 year mark is when you no longer feel homesick. Then, your original home becomes a nice place to visit, but you wouldn’t want to live there.
Ironically, I got divorced and moved back to my hometown in 2014... 20 YEARS after leaving! I’m mainly happy here and appreciate it much more than I did growing up, but I still miss Australia from time to time.
It’s weird where life takes you, but don’t fight it and know that if you follow your gut instincts they’ll take you to the right places.
God I can’t imagine moving back. If I moved back I’d wanna be somewhere different

Agent orange is the chemical Vietnam vets were exposed to during the war there. It is believed to be the cause of many diseases and disorders but of course the military denies it. Hope your uncle gets better.
He won't get better from it but it is really hitting him now...he is a hero!
Not believed to, it definitely is the cause. The devastation it caused will be everlasting for the people it has affected especially the Vietnamese. Generations still being born with serious birth defects. Horrible horrible😔 mankind still hasn't learnt anything, still fighting senseless wars and destroying the planet.
I think the military admits it now, my stepdad was in the VFW and DAV and I remember them fighting to get it recognized back in the 80's and early 90's.
Still, their are issues with va hospitals and doctors, even though they claim its "better" than it used to be...
Agent orange was suppose to kill all the plants and trees in Viet Nam so the military can see where the enemy is hiding. Well it didn't work but it has destroy that country because kids are born with extra limb. Agent orange is now use in GMO by Nestle company. That why the EU ban GMO product coming in from America.

In my hometown, we have a beach, hills to ride our dirtbikes, mountains to hike, a mall, two shopping centers, a farm on the other side of the dirtbike hills, a harbor that is smack on top of the reef which we can fish in, a park, a waterfall in the mountains, yep. We have everything here in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

I had this exact same bittersweet feeling when I went home for Christmas this year, too. I still live in the same country but a different part of it, and things are a lot different here. But this time when I went home to my hometown, I realized it didn't feel like I belonged there anymore and I was homesick. It was sad and weird but also kind of a relief. It meant I had moved on.

Hello from a fellow Michigander living in Japan! I haven't been able to go home the past 2 Christmases and this got me feeling emotional about our sweet little mitten state. I visited Meadowbrook Hall several years back with my mom and roommate (I went to OU), and it's just sooo gorgeous! Seeing Rochester all lit up brings back so many memories as well. Omg, That mall. I know it so well. Love the Sephora's there as well as Nordstrom. Ana who runs the Jo Malone section is so sweet and amazing. I watch this and also miss a bit of home. I recently moved to the twin cities in Minnesota. Still in the US but far away from family. Its sad to go back "home" and see all the things you remember gone or changing. But on the bright side, you have two homes now! BTW I grew up by Port Huron, small town of Croswell Lexington.

Welcome home! Be sure you take all your meds that the doctor gave you for your pneumonia. There is a terrible virus going around Ohio and Michigan that causes an upper respiratory infection that is hard to shake.

I thank your uncle for his service and hope he gets better soon. My father passed due to agent orange exposure during his 3 tours in Vietnam. There is a whole range of medical issues that can result from agent orange.
