  • Church or cult? Evangelical and other Christian fundamentalism are cults. If you grew up in these churches you grew up in a cult which few escape. This video shows the traits of a cult and why the Christian fundamentalist fits all the characteristics of a cult member. Hopefully a few will watch this video and decide to escape these dangerous religions to pursue free and reason based thought in their lives.
If you would like to read a novel of what I think an Apocalypse would be like if Christ ever returned--a tale the fundamentalist will despise, then hit the link below or in the banner (and I admit it is fiction).

Wait a minute! Believing the Bible, the literal account of creation, and the Gospel doesn't make you a cultist at all. Evangelicals are not "fundamentalist". What defines a fundamental cultist is someone who says you must follow their particular beliefs to be saved, whether they are in the Bible or not, AND OFTEN THEY ARE NOT! Also, a true born again Christian will always direct your devotion and obedience toward Jesus Christ. The fundamentalist cult leader will direct your devotion and obedience toward the cult leader. Fundamentalist cults often use the name of Jesus, but have little to no sincere interest in what the Bible actually teaches. I am a born-again evangelical Christian, and I abhor the deceit and deception of the fundamentalist cult movement. Fundamentalism is spreading like a fungus across America, but please remember, "fundamentalism" IS NOT BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY, AND CHRISTIANITY IS NOT FUNDAMENTALISM.

The problem is, the things that fundamentalists and evangelicals DO have in common are what still make them both a cult.
      Blood sacrifice
      Evangeliizing
Needing a Savior to be worthy
      Fear of hell
      Resist the devil
      Sin and death
      Church attendance
      Theology
      Emphasis on Scripture as infallible
      Backsliding.....
......the list goes on and on.
We're missing some points about what cults actually are. Any system that requires your devotion at the expense of your free thinking individuality is an oppressive cult, actually. You can't veer away from the system or you become an outsider. Like there's something wrong with you, not the system. You can't dare question it or disagree with it or you no longer fit. You become a misfit. Or, depending on the issue, you may even be shunned.
Think about this critically. If you decided to stop going to church every Sunday and spoke out against tithing how do you think that would be received by your pastor, the elders or the congregation? The things that would be said and believed would look like this....
You are confused and have been deceived. If you dont attend the same church regularly, you are like a little helpless lost sheep away from the fold. If you dont tithe you are missing Gods blessings. We must rescue you from the foothold Satan has on you. If you don't come back to the fold and follow the "clear teachings of scripture", you are in danger of backsliding even further.
Let's say you persist in your new understanding of tithing and church attendance. They will treat you differently. You likely won't be considered worthy of leading a ministry or respectable enough to teach others.Sure you will still be welcome and treated kindly, but your place there will be affected.
Now let's look further. What if you decide you don't fully agree with another teaching like homosexuality is a sin, or women being a pastor. Now you're really asking for trouble. We both know how that would go. Your place/acceptnce in the Church is based on how complient you are with the set of "rules" that have been established and passed down for centuries. Don't dare question them or veer from that. Upsets the apple cart, the system. Anyone being honest with themselves knows it's true. Do you know how many pastors and Christians I've talked to that will speak very different about what they believe at my table than from the pulpit. Because they know the consequences.
Believing in and being devoted to God/Jesus (whatever label), is not necessarily the problem. It's devotion to the system/organized church establishment , at the expense of anything that doesn't serve said system.
What have you sacrificed in order to feel like you're part of the club? Worthy of a place at the table? Prove you belong?
What have you been convinced is wrong with you and necessary to change in order to show evidence of a genuine conversion?
I spent 20 years immersed in this system. I know exactly how it all works. I would rather have questions I can't answer than answers I can't question Don't be convinced that Jesus set you free only to be enslaved to an organized religious system. What sense does that make?

Though I did not even know what the words creationism or evolution even were. I was always interested in dinosaurs, space and science. Someone is not cult like if they are a creationist, they are cult like if they are a creationist after looking at the evidence and then rejecting it. @@ViRiXDreamcoreI attended an Assemblies of God church for 20 years. Church has become a business all about numbers, money and man made theology. Lots of hypocrisy and smoke n lights, and all of them have been infected with it in some way. There are some well meaning congregants yes, and some positive things are done, but the system and theology is not healthy or relevant. After some very serious studying and contemplation, I no longer subscribe to organized religion. I am convinced of a higher power, miracles happen, prayer is effective, Jesus is worthy of following and respect. But I also understand the power of the mind and how other things come into play with all of that.
Besides, blood sacrifice and communion are as occultish as you can get. It's delusional to see it as anything otherwise. Following a teacher and worshipping a diety are two very separate things. Think of all that is attached to each form of thought.
Following Jesus means doing good. Worshipping means following theology and being obedient to rules. I know, I know they aren't rules....except they are.

@@theroadlesstraveled3993 I agree that churches have lost the plot or it gets burried under politics and a bunch of other things. That's the very thing Jesus was trying to break. To throw out the entire idea as a whole though I believe is a miss. "Church" is really about community and fellowship. And if we say we follow Jesus, Jesus did put rules in place to be followed. Following Christ isn't just "Do whatever as long as you're nice to people." If that's the case, what was Jesus even here for?

There's a difference between following a teaching and respecting a teacher, and worshipping a diety. I personally believe in spiritual things, but I dont subscribe to any religion. The power of the mind is incredible. We're conditioned to to believe certain things about the occult and Jesus which likely influenced your experiences. I spent 20+ years in the Evangelical church and I can tell you blood sacrifice is as occultish' as it can get. The church emphasizes the blood of Jesus more than anything else, in the crucifixion, salvation, protection, communion(you drink his blood and eat his flesh for crying out loud)....it's insane!
I have no problem with people following his teachings and respecting him. If you're a good person and want to do good in this world, you are following his example (without knowing it perhaps). But stay clear of the theology and gathering with a group of people that convince you that you are inherently bad and need the blood sacrifice of a diety to be worth the breath you breathe. That's where it gets cultish'..
Experiencing miracles and being set free from dark thoughts....I'm very happy for you, in all sincerity. And if Jesus helps you with that ...wonderful. Just please tread carefully from there with organized religion and man made theology. My family and I can attest to the very real trauma it leads to.
      Take care~

Are atheists a cult? When I was in high school our physics teacher was explaining
Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity to us. He said that a moving clock would be slower than a clock that was not moving. So for a moving clock, I imagined a clock in a flying airplane, and for a clock that was not moving, a clock on the ground. It was obvious to me that if the clock in the airplane was slower, then the pilot of the airplane would get a faster speed for the airplane than an observer on the ground would get using the clock on the ground to time the flight of the airplane. Then I read Einstein's book on the subject and was surprised to learn that the equations Einstein was using showed that the pilot and the observer on the ground would get the same speed for the airplane. His entire theory was based on that premise. But reality still exists. If the clock in the airplane is slower, the pilot will get a faster speed for the airplane. This atheist will claim that I am a cult member because I do not conform to the scientific belief that Einstein's theory is true, even though I can prove it is false. I will say he is a cult member because I can prove he is a cult member. The only difference I can see between members of his cult and other cults is that they have weapons that can annihilate people they do not agree with that they made using Einstein's theory. Their mathematical mistakes gave them courage to put one unstable radioactive substance into a cannon and shoot it into another unstable radioactive substance. So today there are nuclear weapons, proving to them that their cult is the one true cult. I prefer to follow Jesus Christ and the Father because they say things that make sense, whereas, these scientific people say some things that make sense, but overall are self-destructive and suicidal.
