OMG .. vocals by Freddie!! Montserrat Caballe had Freddie’s voice analyzed and it was determined that he was a natural baritone! His falsetto is amazing! I don’t know much about music or voice theory .. but Freddie had pure talent!! 🕊🕊🌟🤵🏻♂️👑
Thanks, DAME - this is Freddie singing the original song he wrote to impress opera singer Montserrat Caballe - he sang the part that would be hers... before even writing the lyrics.. this was done by them on the album he wrote - she sang "this part".... and he sang much lower - the song ended up as "Ensueno" - there was almost nothing he couldn't do vocally, right?
Unbelievably beautiful. Freddie singing the melody to send to Caballe to see if she approved before he added words. I could listen to Freddie all day. Monserrat Cabballe or Monsy as Freddie called her, held his hand as they first went out to perform because Freddie was nervous about performing with such an amazing opera singer. They grew to care deeply for one another. No one had ever considered mixing rock with opera before. Maybe no one else could! Try Spread Your Wings and In The Lap of The Gods. Thanks!
Rock opera (eg The Who's 'Tommy') and mixing pop/rock with classical music (eg the Moody Blues' 'Days of Future Passed', and Curved Air's 'Vivaldi') were certainly a thing though, before Freddie. Just like music promotional films (the precursor to modern videos) were a thing before the famous Bohemian Rhapsody one (eg the Beatles' Paperback Writer/Rain, and Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane). Maybe it's because Freddie and Queen did them so well that many fans believe they were the first. I'll second You Take My Breath Away live in Hyde Park as a next reaction. Great choice! 🙂
Actually I heard an opera singer at Juliard say she’d never heard any rock singer except Freddie Mercury mix rock with opera. Their voices are heavenly together. I’ll check out the others you mentioned as I adore all genres of music especially combined.
Freddie’s voice covered over 4 octaves- that’s pretty much every note on the piano- Freddie was everything- please listen to his operatic album “Barcelona “ He wrote all the songs and sang them with Montserrat Cabballe - even singing in Spanish and Japanese.
Not Fred playing the piano but Mike Moran, he told Mike you just play something and I'll follow, he also did something similar live in concert for the impromptu moments
It is easy to ask yourself "Is that really Freddie" as he demos this song for Montserrat, an operatic soprano. He is singing her part and sending it to her for her approval before adding lyrics and finishing the song. Beautiful vocals and his voice is so well controlled.
Well now the goosebumps start 🔥 Every time I hear Freddie sing this I almost cry thinking about how much I miss darling Freddie and wonder how many more spectacular things he would have done . TY for playing this 💛✌🏼💛
Espetacular o Freddie era o máximo , ele amava o canto lírico espetacular tanto os exercícios, como cantando com a sua grande amiga e saudosa Monserrate Caballe saudosos para sempre!!!! O Rei do Rock!!!!!!
Hi,of course it's freddie hard to believe first time I couldn't recognize his voice but ye freddie's voice can do everything blowing away just a master and he wrote it ,too out of this planet amazing try how can igo on (freddie&monserat) from the album 1988 freddie& monserat thanks❤🧡💛
Wow 🥰 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ what a talented person he was 😻 he could actually do anything he set his mind to, If only he had more time ❤️ Freddie Mercury ❤️
I love everything about this project. Freddie threw himself into it with everything he had. Yes it’s Freddie…all the way through. Not Freddie on the piano. It’s Mike Moran who co-composed the album with Freddie.
Hey Hon… I will ALWAYS be a subscriber, just based on your reacting to this! REQUEST: You really should now react to: “ENSUENO” The finished version of this demo. It’s a duet where Montserrat Caballe sings this soprano part, and Freddie sings with her in OPERATIC BARITONE.😳 If you want to do some more opera, I’d suggest looking up/reacting to: MONTSERRAT CABALLE She was Freddie’s all-time FAVORITE singer. And since she was a famous operatic soprano with a long successful career, I’ve discovered LOTS of stuff by her on YT - inc. video clips from live opera performances - covering a span of several years, from when she was young to later when she was older after Freddie had passed away.
This is indeed Freddie singing! This is a piece of music he wrote for an opera singer who he was working with and he recorded it first to give her an idea of how it would sound. By the way, although some people call this falsetto, this is what is classically known as singing in counter tenor. A counter tenor is a male singer who sings in the soprano range. The man on the piano is Mike Moran who worked on the project with Freddie.
No. Not written for Montserrat. I get fed up of telling people. It was written and recorded before Montserrat came along for Freddie's B side to The Great Pretender.
No disrespect to Michael Jackson he is not even in the same atmosphere as Freddie Mercury Michael Jackson is an Entertainer yes all the songs Freddy has written in all genres Michael Jackson does a few hehehe moonwalk and that's pretty much it he is a pop star Freddie Mercury is a superstar
Thank you for these moments. Of course this is not new to me but your questions, observations and the conversation others have posted are just wonderful - beautiful. Montserrat became friends with Freddie's parents....I believe she also fulfilled a void as a his confidant regarding the illness, the prognosis, etc...a discussion void his parents (because of their religion) could not begin to help him with, i.e., "How Can I Go On". Yes, thanks again.
If you want to react to more Opera singers please check out Jakub Józef Orliński - Vedro Con Mio Diletto and his collaboration with King's Singers - Music For A While (song by british composer from baroque era H . Purcell). You'll be blown away by him like most of music fans
There were/are many excellent singers, but Freddie was the most diverse one.
OMG .. vocals by Freddie!! Montserrat Caballe had Freddie’s voice analyzed and it was determined that he was a natural baritone! His falsetto is amazing! I don’t know much about music or voice theory .. but Freddie had pure talent!! 🕊🕊🌟🤵🏻♂️👑

No he did not. He wrote and recorded this before even meeting Montserrat. This was the B side to The Great Pretender.

He didn't demo this for Montserrat. It was already hus B side to The Great Pretender. He took this to show Montserrat at their first meeting.
Well now the goosebumps start 🔥 Every time I hear Freddie sing this I almost cry thinking about how much I miss darling Freddie and wonder how many more spectacular things he would have done . TY for playing this 💛✌🏼💛

Freddie had a magnificent voice, he could sing anything, and did throughout his fantastic career. Thank you for reacting to this.
The man could sing a phone directory & make it sound amazing, raw talent. ❤️
Someone did an analysis about Freddie’s range. I think he said a piano has 7 octaves and he had like 4-5 range.
Lindo maravilhoso ❤️ saudoso Freddie..... É sua linda banda é única !!! O QUEEN......... Freddie amava muito a Ópera.

Freddie Mercury all the way! altho it's Mike Moran playing piano, this song is 100% Freddie to me.
You can hear the passion in everything he sings.
Can hardly wait for you to discover, Who Wants to Live Forever. Both studio and live are excellent and very different.

Freddie was so versatile...check out COOL CAT, Freddie and bassist John Deacon collaborated on...Deaky played almost all the instruments
This was B side to his cover of Great Pretender
Then when he met montsarat he used it as an ice braker
Superstar for your reaction - not believing then hearing it is actually him.
By the way your reactions are wonderful. I like the way you go back and listen again to take it all in.
