Police Only Allowing Gun Permits 1 Day A Week For Only 4 Hours Proves Need For Constitutional Carry

  • The Wayne Police Department in Michigan put out this tweet saying, "The Wayne Department will be Changing the hours for processing and issuing Gun Permit. Beginning March 27th, 2024, the new hours will only be Wednesdays, 9:00am - 1:00pm"
Yes, you read and heard that correctly. They will only process and issue Gun Permits on one day of the week for 4 hours, assuming they don't take a lunch break.
Clearly, people were angry about this, and they started receiving a ton of backlash, so they deleted the tweet and then posted a tweet saying, "Thank you to everyone for their feedback regarding gun permit processing. Gun permits will now be processed Monday through Thursday, 9am-2pm."
They're still restricting people's ability to get a concealed carry permit to the days and times when they are at work and cannot go to get one.
This goes to show you how much spite a lot of government organizations, even on the state level, have for the people being able to carry a firearm for protection.
This is why constitutional carry is so important. When the government controls your rights, it treats them like a privilege.
They really tried to limit people's ability to get a carry permit to 4 hours on one day of the week.
McDonald's ice cream machine works more days than that, and McDonald's ice cream machines are always broken.
This is why you vote for politicians who support constitutional carry. Any politician that does not support constitutional carry, doesn't deserve your vote because they don't respect your rights under the constitution.

By the very DEFINITION of the word “Infringement” it is exactly that. So is any place not allowing you to open cary and it is the law of the land that the government, at any level, is breaking that law. I support our right to- (and will defend with my life)- the right to own and bear weapons to specifically take an armed stance against our own government as it Has already become a tyrannical power over us.
We the people need to forcibly, if necessary, keep our government accountable to us and our constitution.
We also need to make sure that these pundits stay true to the purpose of the 2A.
Yet I do not hear ANYONE stating the RESPONSIBILITY of WE THE PEOPLE to use the second amendment for that purpose. Why? Because the government now rules over WE THE PEOPLE. And everyone is terrified and too cowardly to take the very stance we are SUPPOSED to take should ANY GOVERNMENTAL POWER OVER STEPS IT’s POWER-TO INSURE WE THE PEOPLE STAY IN CONTROL OVER THE GOVERNMENT. That is the very purpose we have the 2A.
This fact only shows that WE THE PEOPLE have long ago FAILED in our responsibility to MAKE SURE WE STAY IN POWER OVER THE GOVERNMENT.
This happened in 1860s during the Civil war and again in 1913 when we allowed our government to take our money and grant control over it through a private entity.
IF we will not use the 2A for its intended purpose, we no longer deserve it and have by proxy and cowardess, nullified it. So what it is ?? Come on answer me please. Why is everyone afraid to use it?

As of February, if you don't already have a CPL, a purchase permit is required from the county sheriffs or MSP to purchase a handgun. The office at the county level is not open all the time, so having a background check run is by appointment. It's not only a hassle for the buyer, but for the police as well. They don't get money from the state to keep a person available to run checks all the time. This reminds me of the old purchase permit and inspection card scheme they had back in the 1990's.

If it's an armament that exists, it is by right an armament we should be free to procure without infringement. Don't matter if we buy it from someone, or make it ourselves, we don't need the government's permission. Not needing permission is what makes a right a right.

I could be wrong but I think what they mean buy "gun permits" is a permit to purchase which went into effect on Valentines day this year. Which means if you want to go buy a handgun in Mi you need to go to a police station/sheriff office and receive one permit paper per hand gun you want. This permit is limited to a 30 day window in which you take it to the gun store in order to receive your gun. These purchase permits are then taken back to the police department for registration. Sounds more like they only want to print off these permits during certain hours of the day. I've heard of police stations with lines out the door with people trying to buy handguns.

City of Taylor in MI did this for years. It isn't new in that area. Wednesdays 9 to Noon was the only time the records department was open. If you had a job, you were basically shut out of the process. To be clear, these are Purchase permits (RI-60) which are required in MI for non-CPL holders to purchase handguns. Many people get a CPL not to carry, but rather to get around these ridiculous time restrictions. Carry permits are applied for through the County in Michigan, but authority was pulled back from the County to the State Police on whether or not something prevents issuing because County CPL review boards (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb in particular) would slow walk or require in person review for ALL CPLs despite the State law being "Shall Issue." In practice they were making it "May Issue" so the legislature stripped the County level authority to refuse.

    @alancranford3398 Před měsícem +2

Colin's complaint about 4 hours per week (as long as there's no holidays or sick days or special mandatory training or political rallies) is why I oppose mandatory training for gun owners: the certification process can be ONE instructor on ONE day per YEAR with as small of a class size as the certifying body can get away with for four hours of a mandatory 80-hour class, and no person will be allowed to attend that class more than one time but quarterly training is required...
One four-hour day per week can be "by appointment only" and the appointments must be made 90 to 180 days in advance.
What ever happened to YOYO (you're on your own) --ignorance of the law is no excuse? Private citizens are not sworn law enforcement officers, not agents of the State empowered to execute warrants. There is no duty of the State to educate and train private citizens. There is a requirement that State agents be educated in the lawful execution of their duties and trained in the necessary skills. The State cannot be sued for an individual citizen's actions, deliberate or committed from ignorance. Agents of the State are acting for the State and when those agents misbehave, the State is at fault.
I'll argue that if the State takes on the responsibility to license only those individuals who have completed state-approved training, then the State is liable for any misbehavior and the licensed individual has qualified immunity as long as that individual followed the rules. "I claim self-defense" means a shooting board and not a jury trial--police who flunk a shooting board THEN go on trial. A shooting board is not a trial, it's not even a Grand Jury hearing. Mandate training for concealed carry of firearms and a shooting board composed of at least half NGO board members (shooting clubs and neighborhood watch organizations) can decline to prosecute proven self-defense cases.
We won't have any more George Zimmerman or Kyle Rittenhouse show trials as long as those met the legal requirements to have a loaded gun at the time and place that the self-defense shooting took place.
