  • I have to say that these Shinko 8047805 series tires are just amazing. You really cant beat an adventure tire for the value that comes packed into these big block off-road tires for large adventure bikes. I have personally ran these tires for a good 4100 miles on them and that has been on-road and off-road. I put them on to tackle the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route and even as a daily tire commuting to work. For the money you just cant bet these tires.

Agreed. For the money, you can't lose. The front is similar to the TKC 80 and rear possibly doesn't have quite the lateral grip of the 80, but I've hardly noticed. It drives forward really well offroad and the front is as secure as you could hope for without going to a proper knobbly. Not only that, they are pretty quiet on the asphalt too. Great, well priced adventure tire for all conditions.

Thanks for the review! Is there a better deal for a better tire out there these days or are these still a decent option?

For me the best deal is on the tires i can get at that time for the ride im doing. But yes, you wont beat a better price on a set a tires that will do everything you need and then some.

While on my search for what tires to use on my new 1090. What I’ve learned is, that you have to have 2 sets of tires.
For off rd, the bike is so big that anything other then the most knobby tire (80/20 at least) just rides like a pure street tire off rd imo.
That being said, keep in mind if you have even 1 trip planned that’s 2000 miles or so on pavement, anything dirt oriented at all will be completely worthless off road after.
You may as well have 2 sets, and run the extreme knobby every time your trip isn’t 100’s of miles of pavement.

All good points. As for me I always run full knobby tires at all times mostly because the ease of use as 3 weekends of my month i am out riding off road. Now that being said I also commute daily to work and for me to ether change out the tires every Friday night doesnt work for me nor does buying a 2nd set of rims in order to make a faster transition from street to dirt. This is the reason I run the Shinko 804/805 set up as for about $160 it is more than affordable to burn through 4K miles and replace them.

between tkc80s and the 804/805, wish one is more noisy/shaky when riding flat tarmac ? are they similar? read some reviews that the Shinko is much soft and less shaky/noisy on the tarmac

The Shinkos are a little bit harder than the TKC80s however it is most likely that you will never hear the difference in the sound from running these chunky big blocks between the two. As for the shakiness I couldnt tell you as they are a rated tire of 80MPH so I have never taken them faster than 75MPH. Ether way I can say from experience ether on my 1200GS or the 800GS fully loaded the rear tire of the TKC wears faster than the Shinko but just marginally

@@RockyMountainMotoAdventures Actual Shinko tire speed rating for 804/805 depends on the size of the tire. You can’t make a blanket statement about their speed rating. For example, a 804 sized 100/90-19 is S rated for speed, which is 112mph. Whereas a 804 size 90/90-21 has a T speed rating for 118mph - numbers according to Shinkousa website. Yours probably are rated for 80 mph, but not everybody’s is. The 804/805 I run are Q rated, so good until 99 mph.

Love these tires. I have actually switched from the Conti TKC80s now to the Shinko's however for the new season will be hitting up a different tire to test out
