  • Oscar had a leftward path and was struggling with a leftward start line as well. Talked about trail shoulder work here. Kid has lots of speed. When he was in high school he averaged 125 mph with the driver.

    I second the comment Dana. Been a follower for a long time now. Always quickly hit the insta button when a live lesson is on. Many times I miss them. To be able to watch and get some insight here is great. A real learning experience and always take something new away to think about for my own swing.

      Great glad you like them. Just to be clear it’s only my current take with the students in the lessons. The goal is to help not only players but more importantly give confidence to other younger teachers coming up. A lot of them have really good knowledge.

    Arguably the best swing I've ever seen

    Hi Dana,
    Awesome stuff as usual. This is of course under the assumption that everything winds up normally from p1 and up and there is no early retraction, but is it generally correct that the right scap retracts back until it runs out of its range of motion?

    • @ddahlquist
      @ddahlquist  Před rokem +1

      Yea definitely most players would create an advantage doing so. Obviously as with anything depends on range of motion. Some players might have to stay a touch wider, especially in very very long hitters. Then later increase trail shoulder retraction.

    Brilliant to have some more material Dana, I see you deter this young buck away from benching, what should he be doing to help this sort of move?

    • @ddahlquist
      @ddahlquist  Před rokem

      Well definitely stuff that increases his mobility especially in the shoulder area and lats. It’s a give and take especially if it effects range of motion.

    Thanks for the video. What was the request from that player? You’ve mentioned more control and curvature, was that? Just to clarify for myself, you’re searching for more hands debt to neutralize the left (out-in) path? Thanks

    • @ddahlquist
      @ddahlquist  Před rokem +1

      Yes the player was having difficulty in starting the ball right enough and the angle of attack was a touch steeper than ideal.

      Thanks for. One more comment. I understand you would like to see the hands debt at least heels line. A debt significantly pats that point, could it be detrimental (mostly to time up the forward swing)? You’ve achieved debt with the guy by increasing the chest (rib cage) turn due to his limited ability to adduct the right scapula. Considering a person has a good mobility in the thoracic area and shoulders, what would you prefer to see in getting debt, ribs cage turn vs. scapula retraction? Thanks

    Great stuff. Just a quick clarification. In relation to the arm-rib cage orientation, are you advocating that the arm-elbow stays in front '1 to 3' as a desired model. I wasn't sure if that was just a description of what the player was doing or if there's tolerance in this orientation. I understand later that it will move to the side if you are trying to acquire depth.

      Yes, pretty close to doing that would be an ideal situation. It’s not an absolute if a player struggles with getting depth with some physical limitations. I wouldn’t mind that the players left arm was a touch more in at three.
