Yes correct, you don’t “if you want to hit it farther’ get the mass over the center of pressure. It can be substantially different as a feel for many. Hence why there several different patterns I’d teach.
Majority of players would benefit for having some foot flare, however, super elite athletes that have ability to load the hips and glutes would reduce that foot flare, because they have range of motion in the pelvis. Good example of this would be hank Kuehne.
