Thanks for watching!
What he is doing here in the takeaway was the main thrust of the teaching of David Lee in “Gravity Golf,” which had its time in the spotlight more than twenty years ago. Lee calls that first move “The heave” and uses Nicklaus and Couples as prime examples. By turning your body and momentarily leaving the club to move “last,” you effectively throw (or heave”) the club to the top without using the arms. (It’s a great way to create the right arc without any tension in the arms, wrists and shoulders and recommended especially for those who tend to snatch the club to the inside at the start of the swing.) At that point, according to Lee, the club is at the top, hovering and almost weightless. (Toss a golf ball in the air and it’s that split second when it reaches its highest point before gravity pulls it down.) The next thing that happens, Lee says, is the initiation of the downswing with the lower body, a weight shift to the forward leg and slightly backward, away from the target line, starting the club moving downward. Lee’s term for his move is “the Counterfall,” a move in which the body moves to create and offset the momentum of the club on the downswing. Note that Dana has Brendon doing that, too, just in different words. Those of you who watch Mike Malaska videos will recognize this downswing move as “the push away” from the target line with his forward foot as he begins his downswing. One instructor’s “push” is another’s “fall”-both in the same direction to make room for the hands and offset the momentum of the club-and if you want to do it, you have to decide what feels more comfortable for you. As we are told over and over, there is nothing really new in instruction, just the same stuff repackaged, sometimes with a term the instructor uses to enhance his brand.
You’re exactly right. Familiar with gravity golf. Crazy drills in the book but effective.
Can you post more videos with Dana? This is great stuff. Your swing looks great it doesn’t look like you are trying to hit positions.
best Brandon's swing i ever watched so far. i like this takeaway approach! super fluid no tension...muy bien!
This is one of your best videos in the history of the channel! Thanks Brendan. Can’t wait for more.
What was the main thing you got out of this video? I'm a little sleep deprived but didn't catch the aha moment.
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos with different pros. This is by far the best I’ve seen your swing. Effortless. Thanks for bringing this to CZcams.
The fact that you didn’t hit a ball the whole video... well done. Those practice moves/swings look good
That swing at 3:52 was the best i have seen you do on this channel Brendan!
Great video! Always thought the golf swing should feel good. Your swing here doing this drill looks like it feels good to you.
Love this video with Mr. Dahlquist. Right in line with Athletic Motion Golf with their emphasis on the swing being a dynamic movement, using force , pressure shifts, recentering, getting left early in the swing, etc. In fact, incorporating these concepts have your practice swings looking a little Rory McIroy like! You’re on the right track here. More with Mr. Dahlquist, please.
Wow. Great stuff B. Thanks to DD as well. Clears up a lot.
Your swing in the drill looks extremely good. Thanks for having these good people on.
Great pointers! Love how you are approaching 100k subscribers!
@7:07 is exactly what I do and am struggling how to fix. From dtl Left hip shoots out towards ball and if you draw a vertical line down from butt of the club it is left (behind) the right foot.
Totally have issues with my hips, takeaway and backswing and matching the hips vs shoulder rotation (sequence).
Hearing Dana mention that clubs and arms swing back different to the body turn really got me interested for more info.
@8:50 getting left earlier but not spun out + closed ribcage shoulders is another gem
Looking forward to more from this series. You asked really good questions - clarifications.
This feel finally clicked for me the other day. Now all the videos ive been watching make sense lol Golf just got better
Hello, finally a great tip. Probably every golfer including me can use it. Thank you p.s Your swing looks great now. Andi
Nice work Brandan looking forward to more!!!
*Dana is all over it with Gears information, the explanation is awesome I would want you to own your right forearm just to add what Dana is getting to. Ironwoods range 5 minutes you would own your swing.*
I was just thinking not to long ago about the vids you did with Dana years ago and was wondering if you’d ever meet up with him again. Really cool to see new vids!
GREAT vid!!! The guy in the background was cracking me up tho lol
And another fun observational lesson. Thanks!
This guy has the correct knowledge package, he actually understands how the body moves in the golf swing, Force, motion and sequence are the key components, totally understand and get his teaching principles, and you looked by far the best I've seen you move whilst having a lesson, apart from Milo Lines, the rest are just witch doctors of the golf World. Let's have more of Dana.
Great Work.
Wow your swing has really improved since I last checked in, congratulations
This is 100% pure gold! Thanks! Btw Your arms/swing looked your best ever from the face on view.
Awesome video it would be cool if you just stuck with his theories and milo's! You've made enough videos with other coaches it would be nice to hear somewhat similar ideas on the golf swing and I think it would help your game also
That was good, and for me.. what I think I understand more now is the “ keeping you’re width “ analogy. Turn but don’t you’re arms turn with you? Is that it?😁
Now you are on the right track. The swing has to be athletic. You can’t “put” the club in positions it has to go there by way of how you are moving. I think Drew’s swing is a great example of this.
Some of your practice swings looked real good. Well done mate. Cheers
great swing at the end of the vid
Rotation would be a good dominant thought if you swing with your feet together,But for me it was one of the main reasons (together with stuffing things under armpits!) that i couldnt get below 11 hcp.But now i realise the golf swing is basically a long left/lead side pull throw, (imagine flinging a heavy frisbee) im down to 4 hcp.The right side has to give you the width on the backswing to give the left side something to work against. So gentle right side throw on backswing explosive left side throw on downswing, the opposite of most golfers!Brendan used to have a bit of left then right but he looks to be moving great now!
Ur best swing ever
So I've done to backswing club toss thing at the range - pretty sure they were a number of people wondering what the heck was doing....
Audio and angles are fine
Dana is the 🐐
Not sure if Dr. Kwon led you here or the other way around, but there seems to be many parallels between the two.
I like the way you have shortened your backswing. See that eliminated that looping and foot action--cause and effect
If you could hit balls with the swing you just showed that would be the end for the quest to be better at golf :-D At least for the full swing part... You've done videos with Marcus Bell I see, the guy from Zen golf here in the UK and the rocking movement is where he starts, getting students to stand on a piece of wood with a seesaw kind of set up. Just using that with a club to get the feel on how to move and sequence the body right. I swear that if every golf instructor started there, before any kind of other swing thought, that would improve all amateurs overnight. If you're so focussed on "looking at the ball" "keep your head still" there is zero chance of any dynamic movement that could become a good swing.
Maybe your best swings!
that move at 4:07 looks pure
The best you have swung it...and you didn’t actually try and smack the shit out of a ball 😂😂👍
Turn the body, but don't let the arms get "deep" first.
My uncle always said, in your takeaway all you're trying to do it hand the club head to someone standing behind you.
The main highlight was Dana saying he doesn't tell people to tilt. AMEN. Having morons like Saguto Golf insisting on shoulder tilt just engages me
Well you need tilt... but Brendon has more than enough tilt
🙄I think you meant enrage.......not......engage?
Man tighten up the top of your swing. Too much movement at the top. Work on freezers and get the feeling of hitting the ball from the top without a backswing. Compare your swing to tour pros. You need to fix that and you will not need any of this bs from all these guys .
LOL... you are quite late to the party coach Steve
I mean.... if we're going to make golf instruction videos we should probably make sure it's quality video and audio. Sorry bro unfollowing
Did you not watch his previous video explaining what happened?
Hundreds of free videos with great audio and you complain when there is an issue. Sometimes these things happen and its already too late when you notice. Be more appreciative.
He posted a video about this. First time in 6 years he lost his feed. What a strange post.... “sorry bro unfollowing” I’m sure he will miss you ✌🏻
ba bye
