Best Overall: BSJ, Fervant Fang, Bloody Reach, Cutthroats Grin, Power & Command, Volatility Shard
Max Damage: BSJ, Fervant Fang, Bloody Reach, Power & Command, Berserker Eye, Everlasting Torment
Awakening for light spenders: Berserker Eye and Everlasting Torment
PVP callouts for 2* gems: Kir Sling, Abiding Curse
3/5+ gems to try buying from market for more resonance in PVP: Chip of stoned flesh, Hellfire Fragment, Concentrated Will, Echoing Shade
This guy is invaluable for f2p players, good content and good advice
my only disagreement would be that beserkers eye is the #2 gem to be in any build #1 of course is BSJ
The damage boost from beserkers outweighs every other gem available
Thank you! Yeah it's definitely hard to pass up berserkers eye since it's so good in PVE, anybody not worried about the resonance loss in PVP can never go wrong with it!

Bloody reach is overrated, the range tick are far and you fight most things fairly close whether you like it or not. Berserker's is much better. P&C usually means you're getting no damage bonus half of the time unless you use primary attack a lot in your build. I don't know why you would recommend Cutthroats.
My focus were on 2* due to magic find and resonance at rank 5 being a cheap path to the stats that do the most. Berserkers is definitely good for someone who wants to focus solely on PVE damage, but it's lackluster as f2p due to rank 10 still costing 200 gem power and blizzard still hasn't added awakening as a possibility for f2p
More viable for light spenders for sure to slot in an awakened slot or two, but I can't recommend any f2p player to put that much gem power into something unless they only care about PVE damage
Best gem combo for wizard pve everlasting torment,Berserkers eye ,pain clasp ,fervent fang or mother's lament , seeping Bile , and Blood soaked jade .
Pair with six piece banquet of eyes and go farming ..
I remember you said gem effect is reduced during PVP, what about the abiding curse since it is not a damage boost gem ?
Yes that too by 66%. Only resonance is not nerf in PvP.
Abiding curse is still reduced, but I call it out specifically since PVP is fast paced enough that if someone is slowed for a second it can still change the outcome of a fight or allow you to get the last hit in, etc. Really makes me wonder how strong a gem like this would be if it wasn't reduced!
Not playing Berserker's eye as F2P should be criminal. You just explained how it can replace so much resonance and you still didn't include it in first build. Instead you put Volatility shard which like most useless gem in the game and I never saw any player using it ever.
My main reasoning for that is while berserkers eye is top tier for PVE damage increase, it does almost nothing for PVP since it's reduced by 66% (and I don't believe the 5% increased damage you take is reduced)
In the end I don't run it since I'd rather get a little more resonance for when I do PVP activities and I get an extra 5% magic find by going with a 2 star. Definitely not a large amount, but if I only cared for PVE I'd probably run berserker's eye instead of a 2 star.
If dawning echo ever becomes available to a f2p player, I'm sure I'll run berserker's eye and I'd have to update this list!
