As a barb I utilize kir sling and chip. With my demoralize skill with no essence necessary I turn enemies to stone quite frequently in pve and low to moderate difficulty n pvp. I love the combo

I personally prefer gems that help more with bosses / single target damage, but I still like mob pack type gems once I have the good single target covered. It definitely shines in PVP too for any player focusing on that!

If you're buying with platinum, I'd say it depends on your server market. For crusader I'd say hellfire fragment in general though, since the echoing shade clones seem better on ranged classes. Hard to say DPS wise which wins out, but if f2p the max clones you'll get is 2 on ES so I'm leaning towards hellfire being more consistent
Mostly agree with your analysis. I’m one of those guys who has full rank10 1stars so I could awaken. I much prefer spending money on tangible upgrades than gambling. I’m now starting on 2 stars though beggining with an abiding curse which I just got to rank 7. After I rank 10 that I’m going for the Tir Sling.
Awakening 1* for light spenders is definitely an option, but I'd lean towards it being for someone who knows they aren't gonna PVP and don't mind spending. Otherwise maybe awakening 1 or 2 slots, and leaving your other slots for higher res gems. It's definitely a tough decision if you like to PVP as well, hard for me to say there's a right decision even. But i can definitely see someone getting more fun out of the game with awakened slots, and more fun is always better!

Overall, Fervant Fang is still a bit better since we're using DOT build, the stacks will build very quickly. Necro can't chase people down as easy since we're slow, which makes the cutthroats harder to proc crit chance.
i realize that 20% fear for weapon legendary modifier works better, since there are a lot of close to mid range combat in pvp, extra cc works amazing, along with chip of stone flesh☺

Have you liked the fear wraith form or teleport wraith form more? I know a lot of people like the fear wraith form but the teleport has felt better as f2p to me

You're totally right! For that effect, it definitely feels better at a 2 star level in my opinion. The way I look at it, the effect is better than a lot of 2 star gems, but for zwensons it's one of the bottom tier x/5 effects
So my volatile is at 8 and I see no explosion, maybe it is and I can't see it. A lot of research people are saying same issue. Not seeing the explosion
is volatility shard good for a DH that stands 8 yards away from the mobs that dies ? what im realy want to know is were is the shard damage from - the mob that dies or me the player ?
The explosion happens where the mob died, the radius is a little small though unfortunately. Still overall, it'd slot in as one of your six 2 star gems until you start replacing for x/5s if you want resonance for PVP. For DH I'd probably do something like this, in order: fervant fang, bloody reach, power & command, cutthroats grin, volatility shard, abiding curse.

Hellfire is very sassy,.. concentrated will only worths for crusader or barb only classes with running skill.., and Kir wave is very useful..,
Kir slng the best of the new gems By FAR total loss of control is OP! volatility is ok and hellfire/will are both very MEH
