These guys look like they were ready to fight each other and not the fire
They were panicking maybe due to a severe lack of practice. When in a crisis, that's the worst that can happen to you. Just like a pilot running in circles while the plane is plummeting downwards. I suppose it's also the power lines that caused them some trouble. There might be some risk of getting electrocuted when pointing a hose on it. Another problem here is the absence of a radio, so the Battalion Chief (if that bloke in a blue T-shirt is the Chief) has to scream and shout above all this din to lead his troops. Which is a bit bizarre as I could hear some transmitter squawking in the background! So there was a radio, but not for the bloke in a blue T-shirt.
@@jurgenkuhlmann9194 In the last 150 years, around the world, not one case of FF being electrocuted because electricity has traveled down the fire stream has been reported. Joining electricity and water are dangerous, but no risk exists...electricity do travel in a channel or on a pool of water...but on fire streams only in laboratory conditions (3,000 volts and two feet max distance). A fire stream it´s formed by millions of water droplets traveling together, with no continuity.
@@TheFireControl OK, that's good news indeed. Thanks very much.
I was told once years ago that if you put the fire OUT, all the other problems go away.
No more heat...
No more smoke to breathe...
No more arcing wires...
No more exposure problems...
No more reasons to yell at each other.
The sooner the fire is out, the sooner all of the associated problems go away.
Now you stop it with the use of common senes and logic.
I am so glad I found this video. I will be using it for a training video to show our department what not to do.
Exactly stay safe stay professional at all time it's a brotherhood and none of them all children thanks for your service sir retired military here
wow, I can not believe what I am seeing here!
That driver would’ve got laid out if he grabbed me like that. This is by far the worst scene I have ever seen in my life

It's so hard to watch!
Dude that's the CHIEF OF THE DEPARTMENT
@@jasonbarker1641 they fall like anyone else. Someone grabs me and they are losing teeth.
I see, so to contribute to the chaos you're going to fight someone. And this makes you the professional?
Totally embarrassing, unprofessional etc. etc. I love the guy with no gear on screaming and yelling, he accomplished a lot.
He is the Chief! No lie... I'm from this county, this is New Kensington which is a very rough area. You avoid New Kensington. I was an EMT in the same county. This is how it goes most of the time there.
What a horrible example of an officer. That’s why volunteers quit. Our officers need to set the example with our safety gear, have a calm command presence, and actually know what they’re doing. That primary line never came down and wasn’t going to come down because they knocked the fire down.
He didn’t accomplish nothing but stupidity.
Hes well embarrassing......
I agree. They obviously don't get good training with the screamer
The art to being a great incident commander first comes with the ability to remain calm in highly stressful situations. With that being said it also helps if those under you listen to instruction and recognize imminent danger.
Actually I don't think there was a IC or a fire suppression chief at this fire. Just a yeller.
@@47fireguy16 definitely a screamer
I have never seen or heard an IC behave that way at any incident. What a jerk.
Amen!
@@fireguy284, might be a squirter.🤪
I know everyone is focused on the lack of professionalism in this video, but again great video coverage. Your coverage is always clear, focused and on point.
Im glad that you gave a solid shout out to David Decker. Excellent example of an IC.
“Tom…relax”. 😂 What a shitshow of a department. Who was command? Tom or one of the other 15 guys standing around with nothing in their hands masked up on air? All that is needed in this video is the Benny Hill Theme Song. It would certainly drown out Tom’s screaming.
none of them were on are none of them had a regulator on
i was waiting for FIRE MARTIAL Jim Carey to show up
Judging by that quote, you can tell that this wasn’t his first time doing shit like this at a fire. That’s even more scary because if he cannot contain himself on a relatively small fire, imagine a two alarm incident or something with entrapment
Total disregard for safety, everybody yelling at each other, commands orders disregarded, hood over the mask of a firefighter, freelance firefighter walking under the power lines. This will make one of our training night videos, unfortunately.
Agreed
Total shit show and it makes all of us who do this look bad.
like everyone of this guys videos does... "what not to do"
Yeah agreed
I agree with you guys and completely disregard for personal safety. And everyone knows the water and power lines do not mix and one line carries 10,000 volts electricity
This department seriously lacks discipline. Yelling at each other, really? Whoever was in charge is too weak to be in that position.
He was the one yelling with no bunkers on 😳
15:35 “Tom, RELAX”. Sounds like this isn’t the first time Tom has made himself and his department look like fools.
About 14:25 I heard a "shut the fuck up"...LoL
@@denofzen59 More like at 14:15 is were he says "shut the fuck up"
I would highly encourage this Chief to watch David Decker videos and take notes.
Indeed. Newark Ohio is one of the best trained departments I've seen.
Decker has no clue how to fight fires and he is too much of a coward to debate tactics. He does like people Kissing Up so you keep it up.
@@JB91710 😂
@@RVBob The truth is a bitch sometimes.
@@JB91710 Never met the man, but empirically he gets really quick knock-downs with smooth and efficient operations. And, I've never seen him jerk a knot in a FF's tail in the middle of a fire, like some high-school football coach when a DB has butter-fingers.
As a deputy chief, the time to handle this disregard for safety and insubordination is back at the station. Safety first and foremost, the guy yelling about getting water on the fire instead of what's going on overhead, would have been escorted from the scene for putting everyone in danger and potentially killing them all if that line came down into the water they could have been standing in
Water+electrical power lines= potential disaster, hate to think about what would have happened if a charged electrical line fell. Ooh!
Also the officer with no PPE and who grabbed the other guy should have also be escorted off. Very unprofessional behavior from all involved. Training needs to be done as well as a peer review board
@@williamekeir891 That officer almost pushed the hose onto that charged electric line. A bit sad indeed.
To think these asshole so called ''officers'' are all over PA too. It is popularity that gets you places not experience or anything that matters. Half these chiefs and presidents would be behind bars for embezzlement and theft if people knew the truth of what really happened in some places. Most of the public is too stupid here in hillbillyville taxland to see how screwed up their local government is though and wonders why we have poorly trained firefighters and corrupt cops and blame the ones who actually do give a fuck for trying to do right. Welcome to Pennsylvania.
LMFAO… no. This is absolute clown shit by some goober who demands respect.
All I can say is wow. I'm actually embarrassed to say I was once part of this department. Yet again back then it was actually ran right when everyone had respect for each other and the brotherhood actually existed. Arguing on scene, shoving each other, not paying attention to your surroundings and recognizing immediate danger to yourself, crew, or anyone around you the list goes on and on. I wonder what happened to the weekly training they had. Probably non existing by the looks of it.
Hi Ken this is Kathleen Hibbard the one that keeps away from that stuff. John's brother Philip Hibbard has even said what they did here was very unprofessional were they not trained cuz it doesn't look like this one was it's very scary to know that that is going on in such a small alley as it was and people will not listening they need to listen to the Chief and the cheese should have had his gear on this was absolutely insane and I hope to God that everyone got out okay including the nice little old lady that lives next door this is just very sad Lord help Arnold PA
Very unprofessional fire department
The worst ,what a morons!
You get what you pay for.
As a reporter I have been to hundreds of fires. As a fire buff I have watched thousands of videos. I have never seen anything like this. Un f**king believable.
You'd be surprised with the idiots that get selected for officers in some PA places.
So many fighting on scene is not the place for such behavior but great footage as always
Got to love those old, wooden, self ventilating, garage doors. The Keystone Cop scenes are epic though.
Just when you thought your FD had issues....this FD be like "hold my beer".
8 minutes of watching the fireman follies was enough!
That chief was very disrespectful to his team. It looks like they need more training. Or at least a better chief.
Legend has it that Bill is still staying there...
I sure hope their çountys ema director saw this, unreal man, UNREAL
This is the most unprofessional bunch of yahoo’s I’ve seen in quite some time. Nice command presence with your mesh shorts and I fight what you fear t shirt. Instead of being a bunch of moths racing toward a flame take a second and think. like oh I don’t know maybe make entry in the bravo, charlie, or delta... oh and I love the “am I in the window?” You should be able to tell what it sounds like when your stream is going into the window as opposed to hitting the Side of the house. Flat out embarrassing all around.
Wow, what the hell did I just watch? If this was our fire department I'd build a concrete house with sprinklers.... Never seen.as.much disorganization and yelling. No one appears to be in charge (seems the loudest one yelling is the leader). If this was Stockton CA the fire would have been out, overhauled and they be packing up the gear. At least the electrical secondary line didn't kill one of these guys.... Training and teamwork guys.....
Scene awareness guys! Please stay safe brothers!
There is no wonder why Pennsylvania consistently is a leader in firefighter fatalities.
This absolutely in any way doesn't represent PA firefighters and dept training in any way. I'm a firefighter in PA and my company and the mutual aid Depts in my area are highly trained as well as our ICs. This specific area these videos come from need to be reviewed by the PA Fire Commisioner. The town next door to this has a chief that has a total Hero Nepoleon Complex at fire scenes. It's own ICs and officers like the guy on the end of that hose that gets FFs killed. This again in no way represents PA and I'm not sure about PA leading the country in LODD that is news to me.

Lots of hollering, lots of freelancing, lots of confusion, and lots of turmoil. Firefighters fighting the firefighters instead of the fire.
EVERYTHING get's better when you put water on the fire, even from the street.
Seeing such dissension in the force was disturbing. I am not a firefighter and don't know what should be expected of the forces at the fireground. Thank God for our first responders! Great video!
Great footage, thanks for posting and sharing.....
If this happened in my department there would have been hell to pay back at the station. Unbelievable the lack of leadership and respect for the organization. Training must be abysmal in this department. Amazing they even got this under control.
I would find it really hard to work under this chief, the man has got to learn to control his emotions, also his yelling and belittling his men is not right! They will loss any respect they might still have in him if he continues like this!
It seems fairly obvious to me that whoever the idiot in the t-shirt is, he's doing what he always does... and the FFs in gear are tired of it. Respect? Yeah, right...
Yeah, surprised one of the FF didn't nail him with a 2 1/2!
All it took was about 15 seconds of this video and I don't have any respect.
@@hawkeye5035 from what I’ve read he’s the Chief 🤣
im sorry but that captain needs to learn how to speak to his men urgently and precisely without all the foul language .... he also needed to do a size up which would have seen the power lines as a issue
Great footage of catching every NINCOMPOOP in Arnold, so much to say here but i'll just let the video speak for itself
Great footage. I was hoping for a brawl at the beginning. haha. A fog pattern is acceptable (generally) on those wires if you stand back.
Feisty fire department. Can’t blame the man yelling for them to get back. Saving lives is more important than saving the house.
There's yelling and then there's hysterical...not sure which was which in this case. Would've been extremely beneficial to the IC had his men listened and backed away orderly until given an all clear and maybe there wouldn't have been a need to yell.
Yess...totally agree with you sir..live more important than save the house
But if he really is an officer he probably needs to be setting an example and not be approaching a fully involved structure fire in his tee shirt, no PPE, no hood, no SCBA, no helemt. Screaming like a lunatick, I have stood beneath and close to 100s of arching power lines at structure fires and to date 30 year career have never seen or heard anyone become that elevated and unprpfessional. He needs some serious training, experience, knowledge, wisdom, and learn how to work with firefighters befre given that position. Some people don;t have the capacity and some can;t be taught to lead...they need to figure this one out quick before someone gets punched out stone cold on a fire scene!!!
People in the house??
The real question is why there's a group of guys standing right in harm's way....
Wow! new training video on what not to do!
Back in the day I was with Aston-Beechwood and Concordville Fire Company in PA. We trained weekly, we communicated effectively. There's always at least 1 knucklehead in every fire department. With both companies, that 1 guy always left it at the firehouse. Have good leadership, have adequate training and leave your attitude at home. It's got no business on the firegrounds.
Wow. This is literally at the other end of my street.
What department is this?

When you google them the first things that pop up are the fire department bar and the social and training center. Hmmmmm🤔

WHAT A JOKE ! I AM SORRY ,YOUR FOOTAGE WAS ON TIME AND AWSOME ! WE DO RUN A TIGHT SHIP WERE IAM AT ,BUT IF THAT GENTLEMAN THAT STOMPED AROUND SWEARING AT EVERONE ,HE WOULD HAVE HAD TO HAVE HELP UP ! MUCH RESPECT BROTHER, STAY SAFE !
This is the first time in my long-lived life that I have watched a man in short pants and a tee shirt shouting orders to firefighters by using demanding, loud, and harsh vocal addressing to those he is commanding while grabbing at the hose nozzle to make his point. Albeit, it is also my first time ever to witness a firefighter having a shouting match with anyone, civilian or a Command Officer on the fire ground while working a fire in progress. I assume that the pants and tee-shit guy must have been an officer in the department having some senior rank. However, issuing orders to anyone on the fire ground demands that an officer must be dressed properly for firefighting and present himself in the correct, orderly, and official manner. Certainly not running around appearing to be out of self-control, screaming orders, and expecting senior firefighters to accept his demands and orders without question. This department without question needs a lot of training from the top down in my opinion, not only in how to show proper respect for/to/by all members of the department, but also in demonstrating themselves to be knowledgeable and proficient in firefighting and rescue.
Further, the out-of-control temperament was fast spreading throughout the video, with firefighters hollering at each other as if they were in some sort of screaming match to see who could give the loudest and most demanding voice to those handling the hose line. The unnecessary shouting of continued even after a second line had been put into play, making the scene sound like utter chaos in action. Still further, unless I misunderstood the inference, one firefighter was threatening to go after and to get that "Guy", what that meant, I can only guess, but it did seem that he did not appreciate something that had occurred. The whole fiasco was about as unprofessional as I have ever heard about from others, but never before witnessed myself.
WOW!
love the guys who have nothing to do with a hose line or anything standing there on air....
a few of them looked like they were barely through puberty, the others halfway.
I can’t believe that at least one person didn’t take control over the entire situation to calm everyone down and put safety first!!! I’m thankful that nobody got hurt. The guy screaming at everyone with no protection on needs to be reprimanded. There’s a right way and a wrong way to handle your people. As for the guys that didn’t do what they were told, they need a butt chewing at the fire station once they get back. This whole situation never should have gotten this bad. 😢😢😢
No adequate streetlights in this neighborhood? That's the first thing I noticed. Thank you for not wasting our time showing department apparatus, which is so common in most structure fire videos; you kept your camera focused on the fire building.
This is sad but comical. Total Chaos.
This whole area is unreal. You would think with the amount of fire these communities get that they would be able to figure it out by now. The chiefs and deputies in these places have zero control and cant manage a single fire. Its obvious that the line personal want to work and are proficient in their skills but the officers are a constant let down. Establish command/accountability and rule it with an iron fist. It shouldn't be this difficult.
I would say some serious training and education is needed in fire ground strategy and tactics and definitely in incident commands management system, to include commnication and coordination! Realy bad!
The only I.C. that dude is familiar with is ice cream
As a former firefighter of 11 years. First and foremost the incident commander or first on scene has the upper hand and say so. 2nd the firefighters all have a job to do starting with listening and doing as your instructed for your safety as well as the others. These firefighters who chose not to listen should be written up and warned. 3rd write up your off the department.
Do you really think with all the adrenaline flowing through this small department thst probably has 1 structure fire a year received clear, concise instructions from the messenger (IC) during all the screaming, shouting, and threatening tone. He's fortunate he didn't get his ass knocked flat out on the ground! Ridiculous!

If that dude would have grabbed me screaming like he did I do think I would have dropped him with a right hook...he would have woke up (maybe) in the ER. I bet this fire department struggles with retention if they allow this out-of-control lunatic to dictate fire department operations. I take my hat off to the firefighter on the nozzle seemed to stand his ground when he was grabbed by the arm. I get it, yes, like 90 percent of all structure fires burning/exposed power lines is a threat to apparatus, firefighters, and civilians alike, but come on learn how to manage the safety aspect in a controlled orderly fashion! Implement ICS and learn to utilize radio communications to manage a fire!!! To the person shooting the video GREAT job! Quality is fantastic!!!
Great video as usual. 👍👏
But about this fire departement, realy sad to see this bunch of clowns working.👎
after taking a moment to look up were this fire was on google maps its clear that the crews that were on scene need to have some more training and cut the ego out of getting to the fire first. with the fire side being alpha side, if one guy took a 360 he would have found they had safe access to the fire from the bravo, charley side from a vacant lot 2 doors down. i understand why the I,C told them to back off but the way he did it was not right on the other side the nozzle man need to have an ass chewing for not listing to command. i don't care if your first to the scene or not. if you slip up once, you will be first in the grave. all it takes is 30 seconds to make a scene safe.

The single best thing you can do for the safety of the people on scene is to PUT THE DAMN FIRE OUT. If you out the fire out the power lines won't burn off.
It looks to me like the line that was burning off was the service line which looks to have a very short run between the pole with the street light on it and the garage. Even if they burned off its not like that short of a run would reach low enough to cause a real hazard. Even so once again the problem goes away if you PUT THE DAMN FIRE OUT instead of standing in the street yelling incoherently at each other.
If everyone was standing on that wet ground and the cable snapped it would of fried everyone. You're welcome
@@davy.7770 the wires only got that bad because they pissed around getting water on it. Wires don't instantly fall down just because they take a little heat or even direct flame impingement.
Once again: IF YOU PUT THE FIRE OUT THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY.
