- Jaysen ( @Ezeekat ) and Kasey ( @brain_in_a_jar587 ) sat down to demo The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era. In part 1 of their demo they built their characters, spent some time in town, and fought some rough customers in their hometown of Western Black Marsh.

Excited for this game!
yes
Hey, it’s @ezeekat! Love the book commentary & the clips with you and your spouse! 👋🏽
Could you please give the link (if possible) to the version of "dragonborn comes" at the beginning of the Video. No further questions - already backed all in xD
When are we getting part 2
Looks promising, but could we see more gameplay? As far as I know there are no plans to release the rules before the crowdfunding ends, so it would be nice to have at least more gameplay to watch. I can understand if you want to keep some surprises and will probaly not share everything, but seeing at least one complete quest and get some information what changes for the following 2 quests or the boss fight, would be nice.
So on the first combat we see - the baddie stack number (4x2=8) in TMB terminology, gets increased from 8 to 10 and they plow right through the mob. A lucky roll yes, but this looks way easier than TMB. Two 5pt baddies on day four in a 2p game would be a challenge in TMB. Is the game this easy in general?
We're still tweaking a lot of balance nobs on the game and will be doing so for a while.
Has Chip Theory discussed the "save" mechanism in place for characters and such? Are there sheets of paper to track everything? Separate storage for each character? I'm already backing all in, just curious what is going to be in place for this or if it is still being developed. Thanks for the video, looks great!
The save mechanism is outlined over on our campaign page. In fact it has even been upgraded as an achieved stretch goal!
is there an estimate on table space needed for 1 to 2 players?
all the table space
Take the neoprene map and remove like 8 inch on the smaller side to represent you removing the third and fourth character map + ease of play space
Does Kasey play Space Cadets Away Missions? It features cool Brains in a Jar lol
Are they regular or premium health chips?
Regular premium are heavy... I mean I used a lever to move my hero in hoplo 😆
Kidding... according to the sound I really think those are the normal. Close to 45 minutes we can see that's there is no sticker on I think which would confirm...
And with the heavy chips you don t need to lift the chips you can push them without fear of make everything fall 😊
I hope that you add skyrim nordic themed map tiles (ice caves/dungeons).
They heard you 🤩
That introduction music ❤️
Me too! But hope they are gonna improve a bit the design of the black marsh "map"
Their recent post on Gamefound talks about how they wanted the map to look better for the preview but they had to co-ordinate with Bethesda so it wasn't ready in time. The final product should look a lot better, it's Chip Theory Games after all.
Yep, this is still being worked on. Maps have been one of the more challenging things to come to a place of agreement on with the ZeniMax team (we wanted to be able to go everywhere, they wisely didn't want us allowing exploration beyond the places they've shown in the video games themselves). They'll be getting much more interesting/finished looking art. 🙂
They said that the maps are WIP. I found the art on their Cloudspire maps excellent.
@@ChipTheoryGames Does this pretty much indicate that they're happy with you going forward with expansions into the other provinces, e.g. Elsweyr, Summerset Isles, etc? Has there been mention anywhere yet of the other province maps included in the base game 3?
Are you planning to "port" this game to TableTop Simulator, so we can try it out ?? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ( even as a 10$ dlc, I would buy it)
Does this game have true solo or only two-handed?
From what the demos have shown so far, true solo should be possible. Both delve and clash combats scale with character count down to 1 character. How balanced a 1-handed play will be remains to be seen, though. The fact that player skill and item limits appear to be set, and that endgame events and dungeons are more predesigned might cause some balance issue that needs to be ironed out.
Definitely can be played true solo.
@@ChipTheoryGames Is it doable with just 1 character or 2 characters when playing solo?
@@hty56789 true solo means only 1 character. Two handed means playing 2 characters by one person.
Hopefully you guys open the beta tests for us regular folks soon
We are indeed aiming to open up public play testing fairly soon 🙂
@@ChipTheoryGames Big fan of Hoplomachus and TMB, so definitely excited for open testing! :)
@@ChipTheoryGames sweet!!
There’s a ton here that looks amazing, but I have to admit that the way treasure is handled during the skirmishes feels clunky and unthematic. It seems unlikely that, while being ambushed in a forest, you randomly come across 3 treasure chests just sitting in the wilderness. Also, being able to lock pick in the middle of a battle with no time or action cost feels very unrealistic. It would make more thematic sense if the treasure was looted from the enemy combatants using a treasure search dice or something. A pick pocket action would also feel more thematic. The lock picking mini game in general seems pretty unexciting. Everything else looks pretty fantastic though.
The lockpicking "mini game" comes from Too Many Bones. It's fine. ;)
I mean, you can do this in the video games too though.
Thematically, I see no problem in lock picking during combat, but agree that it should cost action or perhaps a penalty to your defense and/or you lose more hp if you take damage.
In TMB you are not lock-picking during combat.
@@ChipTheoryGames the thing is in video games for the most part, the enemy can still attack you during the lock picking. I personally don’t mind what you guys have going but I understand the persons problem. Maybe add if you fail it near an enemy, they automatically get to attack you? Not sure how game breaking that is
We all wish Elder Scroll games were multiplayer games.
The Elder Scrolls Online might be worth a shot ;)
As others have said before I find the delve/clash forest maps quite ugly. I would find different cave backgrounds more fitting over the different regions, since cave delving was always a big part of elder scrolls games. (As it looks like it's not feasible to have different tilesets for the different regions, e. G. Snowy map tiles for Skyrim, etc)
Anyways, rest looks pretty great!
Excited for the game, but dear lord! Can you go with less annoying people to present and play your game next videos... The way of talking of the three is so cringy I just can't go through it.
The most cringy thing about this video is your comment. People have different ways of talking, deal with it in a respectful way mate.
@@arkady7685 Sure mate.
"Dear lord" lol cringe
Every taste is fine. Actually love the casual feel to it
@@fredericcourcy1915 Fully understand, I know it's purely personal, everyone's taste will be the bad taste of another, mine included.
