The_Drop Bear The Elder Scrolls are useless for combat, unless you plan to run in and whack somebody over the head with them, or open one in the middle of a crowd; a problem easily overcome by turning away or closing your eyes and carving the old fuck like a feast day turkey before he has time to call for help. Besides, How much influence could a group of hermits possibly have with smallfolk who, most likely, think that they’re all a group of old kooks? You are severely overestimating the Moth Priests.

I unironically love ESO to death, despite some lore "mistakes". The team making ESO wasn't directly Bethesda, and checked with Bethesda on every piece of lore they decided to include and portray. The likely explanation is that the lore somehow got flubbed somewhere in translation between teams. ESO has contributed so much cool stuff to the TES universe and is a fantastic MMO to boot, I'm so glad we have it.

I have a solution for the whole Maxevian vs Anton 1 problem. I think "King" Maxevian was a rebel attempting to take the throne who had the loyalty of many who saw him as the true king of Daggerfal, including the knights of Watcher's Hold. My guess is that he is a brother to Anton I who had more military experience and saw his brother's lack of determination to exterminate all orcs as dangerous for Daggerfall, a sentiment shared by many others. Maxevian's hatred of the orsimer was shared by enough people in the court that there were those who were willing to act as spies for him and attempt to poison the true king, Anton. There is a second mention of Maxevian in the Letter to King Maxevian which was written in 458 by Captain Orrent Retene. That letter states that they have not recieved orders to return from Watcher's Hold for 24 years, suggesting that Maxevian had died before he could send those orders

It helps put together the political climate as a whole and what the different mer & men were dealing with in their own lands and in relation to each other. It also helps point out any seeming inconsistencies, which is helpful for not getting confused, laying it all out there. Very cohesive. I don’t need every little quest detail from ESO or any other TES game for a project like this. I find your historic overview quite informative with the relevant facts and people included. Hm...written record of the Dark Brotherhood surfaces in 358, and details an ongoing power struggle between the organization and the Morag Tong. 324 saw the Tsaesci Potentate assassinated seemingly at random after 300 years of rule and "Morag Tong" is painted on his chamber wall in blood, ensuring the Morag Tong are attributed with the killing....unless there is evidence to indicate that the Morag Tong sanctioned this act, I'd speculate the possibility that the Dark Brotherhood perpetrated the assassination and, in an attempt to direct animosity from the empire toward their competitors, direct blame upon the Tong....I like tinfoil.

If you've never played, definitely pick the game up on a free week and at least play the main quest line through. It's worth it!

A thought about King Maxevian seeming to rule Daggerfall at the same time as King Anton was still alive and well...
What if Anton placed an advisor on the trone during a period of particular instability and violence around the royal court? It has precedents in IRL history, so perhaps Maxevian was a steward who took his position a bit too seriously when he had executive powers, and called himself a king in his documents. It would make the lack of any other mention of him more sensible too, with the possibility that Anton caught wind of Maxevian's growing lust for more and more power and had him removed, potentially from any documents he could find afterwards as well.

Honestly, there are several explanations for why the Hist would command this:
    a) They know what/who the Ordained Receptacle is, and realized that it/they threaten their existence in the wrong hands.
    b) They know that the Ordained Receptacle is deep in Argonia, and the Akaviri would have eradicated Hist trees to reach it.
    c) Tsono-Xuhil is the Ordained Receptacle, and the other Hist decided to destroy the Akaviri before this revelation could turn Tsono-Xuhil into a rogue messiah.

Every time I hear "...this is Scott..." at the beginning of one of these videos I start thinking of an old friend who died a few years back. This always puts me in something of a somber state. Given the overall state of affairs in TES, this state of mind is quite fitting.
I love and hate this at the same time for reasons that should be obvious. Though the sadness that comes back far outweighs being in a good mindstate for a lore video. However that sadness stems from remembering the fun times we had as much as it comes from the fact that I will never see him again. Those are things that I like to think about even if they are bittersweet.
I know this sounds random and is something of a downer, but I really mean this as a thank you. Since at the end of the day things that remind me of those friends I have lost are important to me, because they do this. The only way to remember is to think about what it is you are remembering. Keeping memories alive means activating them often enough so they do not fade off into oblivion. (and I don't think I'll be able to strike up a deal with Hermaeus Mora anytime soon)
addendum: I don't really like the idea of becoming numb to ones own memories. There are memories I have, which I know should come with some emotions, but do not (I am not talking about trivial memories). I recognize them as poor reflections or shadows of reality. I abhor the feeling I get when I know I should feel something but don't. It is as if I have found where I have lost a fragment of my humanity, with that fragment nowhere in sight. Stuff like what I said above can hurt. But that these memories come with associated emotions helps me to keep my humanity in a day when being a decent human seems to be in short supply.
