They sure do use the word 'impending' to describe the baby a lot. Not sure about you, but when I think of the word impending it's often followed by the word 'doom'...

angelxxsin Well, you just answered your own question. There are lots of alternatives, approaching, upcoming etc. But I just find it interesting that they're going with _impending_, which is typically associated more with words like looming and threatening.
Usually when I hear "impending" it's followed by doom or death, not _baby_.
The approaching baby? The Upcoming Baby? Sounds weird....
'they're in a good place' that's what Sherlock said about his and janine's relationship too
Henry Knight Sherlock was using her to get to Magnussen. She was part of a case. Pretty weak thing to compare John's marriage to
Alexia Brooks yeah, sherlock was using janine, and john and 'mary' are using each other. john uses 'mary' to move on from sherlock (he says so to mrs hudson in teh), of course he also cared about her, but he is probably lying to himself about being attracted to her ("you're abnormally attracted to dangerous situations and people" - "but she wasn't supposed to be like that). 'mary' is definitely using john for protection. she also loves him in a selfish way, she wants to keep him at all costs, even if it means lying to him about her whole life, killing his best friend (who would be a rival to her because john is desperately in love with him), and possibly lying about a pregnancy or a baby.
so, while sherlock and janine's relationship might not be directly comparable to john and 'mary's marriage at this point, the connection has been made. and i think we can safely assume that this means the warstan marriage is doomed, just like sherlock and janine's relationship.
Henry Knight Let's go with your logic of John using Mary to "get over" Sherlock. Does that mean literally anyone who has moved on from someone to be with someone else is using their new partner as just a little side piece? Because that's pretty much what you just said. And really? Desperately in love? If anything it just seems like Sherlock and John just aren't done living a life of adventure. John is just hurt that his wife hid something from him when relationships are built on trust. And the rival that you see as Sherlock and Mary battling for John is Sherlock saying "hey man I just came back from the dead let's hang out and solve some crimes. You were my friend first" while Mary is saying "hey yeah I know I kept a huge thing from you and lied about my name but I'm still your wife and pregnant with your child. Let's go choose paint for the nursery!"
Alexia Brooks I'm talking specifically about john and 'mary's relationship here, not about every relationship ever. it's clear from the actual dialogue of the show that john was never actually attracted to 'mary'. he's attracted to dangerous people, and he thought 'mary' was perfectly normal. he chose her to get over sherlock, which indicates that he was romantically attracted to him, so obviously he'd choose someone he believes he's romantically attracted to as a replacement. he was so hurt by the reichenbach fall thing that he thought another dangerous partner would just hurt him again. so he chose someone who's not dangerous and told himself that he was attracted to her. which he wasn't. we were explicitly told that he needs danger in his life and that he's attracted to dangerous people. all his relationships with 'normal' women in seasons 1 and 2 didn't work out because he just had them cause he thought sherlock wasn't interested in him. if you need more proof that he wasn't attracted to 'mary', remember the beginning of the empty hearse. the day he was going to propose to 'mary'. he looked so excited that mrs hudson thought he was terminally ill.
and i thought we had established by now that sherlock and john were in love since day one. but apparently there are still antis out there. i recommend the tjlc explained series on youtube, that might prepare you for season 4.
and 'mary' and sherlock are indeed battling for john. this whole show is about john and moriarty battling for sherlock, and 'mary' and sherlock battling for john.
it is by no means proven that mary is carrying john's child. there are plenty of other explanations for the facts: she could be faking the pregnancy (which she would definitely do if that means john will stay with her, she already lied about her whole life and killed sherlock) or the baby could not be john's (as you can see in the clip, the baby has dark hair. both parents are blond. i know that 'mary's hair could be dyed and that babies can change hair colour, but this is a tv show. if they're casting a dark-haired baby for two blond parents, there's a reason for it.)
also the warstan marriage _is_ doomed. it has been confirmed by press people who have already seen the episode. sorry warstan shippers, but this was bound to happen sooner or later. the show is about john and sherlock. it's always the two of them. don't you read the strand?
Henry Knight So John deciding to start dating to get over the death of his best friend is proof that he was attracted to Sherlock? Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds? And as for the baby having dark hair when both parents are blond is totally possible.

I've never heard the word 'impending' being used in a good context, it's a bit strange.

On that note, this Sherlock video reminds me of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's double entendre title of "The Hound of the Baskervilles", and the dramatic silhouette of one Sherlock Holmes.
