    It's a great workout for sharpening your sense of pace, simulating pushing through the fatigue you'll feel during races, as well as practicing pace changes your competitors might throw at you during the race to try to break away in the middle or at the end of the race.
    It's certainly not "dumb af", and if everything turned into 5k pace, then the athletes failed at properly executing the workout.
    I don't think it's necessarily the guys' fault if they did indeed fail at it, though.
    This is a great workout, but it's very advanced and it requires very honed pacing which most high school and even most college guys don't possess.

    This workout can be confusing for runners who only run XC. I can remember there was alot of girls who didnt know what a 400 pace was bc they didnt run track or some girls never understood the 800 pace because it wasn't an event they ran so figuring it out was hard. Over all it is a really fun and great workout.

    It gets to a point where doing it too much the pace doesn't change, personally it would've been better doing the ladder twice at the right pace than doing it 4 times with slowing down too much...still good workout well done

    Ahahahahah this fartlek makes me laugh. Try to do this: 9x (1 min fast, 1 min slow). Just to determine how fast is the 1 min fast: we usually do 400 metres in that min. I tried the one in the video and it was so easy.

    • @TheOWLCITYADDICT
      @TheOWLCITYADDICT Před 7 lety +10

      Andrea Volponi if you can do 9x 400m in 1 min with 1 min rest your 1500m pace should be around 3:40ish. Possible, but not very probable you internet troll

    • @andreavolponi1893
      @andreavolponi1893 Před 7 lety

      TheOWLCITYADDICT infact it is

    • @andreavolponi1893
      @andreavolponi1893 Před 7 lety

      TheOWLCITYADDICT my best on 400m is 49 sec. 1 min is a joke for me. Keeping it 9 times's pretty difficult and sometimes I can't keep 1 min in the last 2,3

    • @TheOWLCITYADDICT
      @TheOWLCITYADDICT Před 7 lety +8

      You replying with your best 400m time means you have no fkin clue how aerobic and anaerobic systems work. Your 400m time has 0 influence on how fast you can complete this training. The absurdity is not the 1 min 400m pace that part is pretty easy, the absurdity is a fkin 1min break in between every one of them. If you can't run 3:40 you are or cheating with your break time or not making the 1 min on the 400m simple as that.

    • @chrissayles7575
      @chrissayles7575 Před 7 lety +12

      edgar espinoza its a lot harder to run elite times in distance with extra bodyweight. they do do crunches and push-ups but they have slow twitch muscles unlike sprinters. this means they dont have unnecessary muscle mass but are still strong for their bodyweight

    • @azteacher26
      @azteacher26 Před 4 lety

      Wouldn't matter if they put in heavy deads or bench. They'd still look like this. As you climb up into more competitive times you body diverts protein away from building and bulking up non essential muscle groups. These guys train slow twitch muscles which aren't as bulky. They also run all the time which is a full body exercise. Full body exercises produce more contoured muscles not bulk. That's why gymnasts can out lift many competitive body builders but still don't look bulky. It's because they do so much full body work/stabilization. Plus it's not really an aesthetic competition. The goal is getting lower times. That's it.
