Hi ! I hope you are doing well settling yourself. I feel like I am going through life without any real progress. Working, eating and sleeping. A life of nothing but habits without purpose. That's why I made myself a promise. I am currently working to achieve my goal. I am moving to Portugal in 3 years. Buying myself around 10 000/15 000 square meters of land to farm, fish and live by nature instead of being miserable. Good luck to you, hoping for the best. Keep at it !
The more I watch these type of videos it pushes me more to wanting/planning to chase this way of living. I think what it is for me is my fear is stopping me and I will overcome it one day. I don't mind the city, but I love nature so much more. Congratulations on the lovely new home!

It's a rollercoaster of emotions, but oh man, that feeling when you're standing on your own land, looking at all the possibilities and memories you'll make is something else, it's unreal. Congratulations and thank you for sharing. I build out a sprinter van this year to do a similar thing, exploring Portugal to find a nice spot to settle down on. Having lived in the UK for far too long I miss my continent so this was very inspiring and I hope you will be very happy.

Good luck. I bought a farm up north, close to Gerês National Park. An amazing place with avocados, mangoes, cherimoyas and all the other fruits. Just love it!

When I watch for a little farm online the prices are around 30.000 euro but I got a feeling that when I would go there I light find something more afordable.. subscribed to see your journey, love the peace there.
Parabéns 🎉 This is my first time watching your videos and I like it all the more because you are a Portuguese guy buying land ❤ my son is half Portuguese and that side of the family lives down south...as do many if my friends who moved there at some point. Last year I got the opportunity to work with someone in natural building, so we were back in the Alentejo for a few months to see if we wanted to stay full time. It was impossible to find anything to rent! Don't even ask about the prices 😢 I'm worried that the young generation will leave their country because they can't afford to live there anymore
Well, we did the van life thing with a baby for 1 1/2 yrs and got as far as Castelo Branco and then ended up renting a cute little house in Almoçagene/ Sintra 🥰 After seperating from kids dad , I moved back to rural Germany (.. it's hard to beat the forest I live next to) When we were back in Portugal for a few months last year it was in the Alentejo region, simply because all my friends and family are based around there which makes working as a single mum at all possible. I always wanted to check out the north however, especially because I always hear if it being much much greener than in the south 🤗🍃 I find it fascinating how every little area of Portugal is so different...in terms of people, Portuguese mentality and dialect etc 🙂
My *wife and I in March 2023 purchased in Central Portugal Castelo Branco region, similar to you, our property was taken away from us and came back - go with the flow and the universe will provide, when it is right it will happen, it’s the law of attraction working its Wonders. CONGRATULATIONS, we ever buy for what something is (especially in this price bracket) we buy because where we can take it and what it can become. My wife lived in Australia for 42 years and came home dragging a Crazy Wallaby with her, best decision (outside of our children) we have made in 22 years of Marriage. It's the people, the history - it's kicking Spain arse for hundreds of years. It's not the size of the Cao in the fight, its the size of the fight in the Cao! The Portuguese have the fight, the confidence, the identity, the old wisdom and the acceptance even for Crazy Wallaby's. We do sincerely wish you the best with your endeavours.
moved to new city and also experienced similar...lost apartment deal and then out of luck it was back on market and miraculous i managed to get it by acting fast on it. and i am super happy here for past 2 years. that land was for you and i have a feeling you will be very happy. that loan rejection was god sent dude....any plans to have some goats or sheeps? :) all the best and keep update.

Love the countryside. If i understand you bought the first with the rock shed and large trees. From warching Italian and Portuguese vids like this i learned you can't live in a building that was for animals although you can camp with a permit. Good luck and keep up the vids.

Thank you for the kind words! I saw a lot of interesting places on facebook marketplace and OLX. I'd also recomend having a look at local estate agencies! In my case I think Espaços and Casa Rural are great people to work with!

That obsession when you are in buying mode is a bit of a killer, I also get it. It’s so annoying because it doesn’t put you in a good space when you are trying to make a big financial decision and want all your facilities of reason to be working 100%.

Hi Brian! Thank you for your comment! The first property was the one I ended up buying! I closed the deal on 7500€ after all the legal fees. Usually the asking price is pretty negotiable ;) The farm is not too far from Fundão! And yes, I do speak portuguese! I was born in Portugal.

moved to new city and also experienced similar...lost apartment deal and then out of luck it was back on market and miraculous i managed to get it by acting fast on it. and i am super happy here for past 2 years. that land was for you and i have a feeling you will be very happy. that loan rejection was god sent dude....any plans to have some goats or sheeps? :) all the best and keep update.

Love the countryside. If i understand you bought the first with the rock shed and large trees. From warching Italian and Portuguese vids like this i learned you can't live in a building that was for animals although you can camp with a permit. Good luck and keep up the vids.

I'd also recomend having a look at local estate agencies! In my case I think Espaços and Casa Rural are great people to work with!

That obsession when you are in buying mode is a bit of a killer, I also get it. It’s so annoying because it doesn’t put you in a good space when you are trying to make a big financial decision and want all your facilities of reason to be working 100%.

Don’t forget the 1951 law in Portugal. Many properties look great and are cheap for a reason. You cannot turn barns into living dwellings.
The 1951 law means that buildings built before that are exempt from a habitation license 😉

The first property was the one I ended up buying! I closed the deal on 7500€ after all the legal fees. Usually the asking price is pretty negotiable ;)
