The NFC North had the 2nd most wins in the NFL in 2023.
It is entire possible for the NFC North to be the best Division in the league.
ANY of the teams in that Division could potentially win, and nobody would really be surprised.

Fantasy ppl won't like this, but the Gibbs-Monty split was perfect last year. Monty was there for the tough yards up the middle while still being good for the odd big play (see 75 yard TD against the Chargers) while Gibbs was good for pass catching and outside runs to showcase his speed. Both were kept fresh through the season cause of the split in carries. In order for the Lions offense to still function how it did last season, that split needs to continue
quick mathing it they're like within 5 touches of each other. it is about as perfect as it gets
The question is how much is that due to Gibbs slowly adjusting to the nfl as a rookie then popping off later. Also Gibbs was out a cpl a games stopping him from being online sooner

montgomery was injured for a few games. montgomery is the hammer, gibbs is the knife. both are needed

They arent gonna stop giving montgomery the ball what are you smoking? Attempts: 219, Yards 1,015, Yards/Attempt 4.6, TDs 13. Too much production to abandon. They have a great problem on their hands.
The Vikings are gonna shock some people, I have a feeling. We kept the offense the same but with an upgrade at RB and replaced our QB with a more mobile one designed for the Shanahan scheme, and Flores is building a younger, faster defense to fly around.
Not saying we win the division, but i bet we can pull the 2 spot and a wildcard if all things go well.
QB play will decide whether that happens. I like the way you think.
Got Gibbs in fantasy late in my draft last year. Almost saved my team after my first and second RBs went down with injuries.

Hopeful for this coming year, but also that Brad & Dan are setting this team up to keep winning in the years ahead.
I think its a straight up tie between both the AFC and NFC North divisions. Incredible competition.

Montgomery is actually a good receiver - Detroit just didn’t use him that way. He’s great in pass pro and as a receiver. Monty’s a stud but Gibbs is the future

Veteran Pass Rusher Emmanuel Ogbah is only 30 year old. The Lions should take a flyer on him. If he fits a one year deal should work. This move could help the Lions get into the Super Bowl

When teams are evenly matched it comes down to injuries & coaching. Right now Green Bay has a slight edge with LaFlour.

Bears going from one the worst QBs and mediocre offense to a generational QB and a loaded offense the 12-10 game is perfect example of how limited you are with a bad QB play
The Bears don’t “got the Lions number” 😂. We struggled with mobile QBs (but you got rid of him) and our defense will be lightyears better than last year, with DJ Reader, Alim and Hutch going into year 3. Houston not being out for the whole season like last year, the secondary not made of practice squad level players like it was last year. The Bears are gonna be in for a rude awakening with a rookie QB and going up against a Detroit team even better than the one from last year. Not a single area where they got worse. Hell, the D-line coach we hired alone should be a massive improvement.
Gibbs had like 4 situations where he was a foot from getting the TDs.
The AFC North is the toughest division. All 4 teams had winning records and 3 of them went to the playoffs.
I think Rich is off. The Lions will continue to be unpredictable and opportunistic. They will divide the running back time according to game plan, not presumed hierarchies by pundits.
When you look at every major offensive position for the NFC north (QB, WR, TE, RB). THEY ARE STACKED!!
Tough to see Gibbs as a top 5 fantasy pick with Montgomery there. He’s Definitely a touchdown vulture lol
It’s actually a legit strategy to draft and play both of them. The Lions backfield is the #1 fantasy backfield. Between the 2, you’re gonna get about 32 PPR points/week or so, and it doesn’t even matter what the game script is. The RB’s will always have work.
Monty is the catering ram good for 5 so ofc he's gonna be the go to to lay the wood on the line. Don't make him a vulture any more than when Craig gets a snap in to heavy man it

Yeah the early part of the bears schedule is not hard. They could start off 5-2 or 6-1 before divisional games start. It would not be a shock. It’s good for them the easier part of the schedule is early with a rookie QB

Here's the deal with the Lions; they will run the ball more this year than last and it is because of the improved defense. They will score a bit less and give up far fewer points. They are far less vulnerable to the big plays they gave up from the corner position last year and, OMG, not many teams will match up well with Reader and McNeil in the middle. The Lions D is catching up fast!
Although the Lions defense is catching up, they won’t be running the ball more frequently than last year. Detroit was never passing to keep up with the bad defense. Whether they’re up by 3 or 21 doesn’t really matter, and they’re hardly ever playing from behind.
You are assuming the rookies will do well. Historically, that will not be the case.

Maybe im biased…. But…. I wish Montgomery was still on the Bears. Monty > Gibbs. These Lions fans dont appreciate their #1 Rb. Monty is a better 3rd down back for a reason & gets paid like it… for a reason. Why? because Monty can ACTUALLY BLOCK or “sell it” to the opposing defense, while proving he’s still an effective pass catcher option. If Gibbs is in the game on third down, we know for sure he’s not there to block, he’s in for a pass play (or less likely running) Maybe this isn’t the case in a regular season game where the game isn’t on the line or injury changing the rotation) It gives away the potential play-call (run/pass) moreso than not when Monty is not in the game AND puts more pressure on Goff to get the ball out fast. 💀

@@zacgrasl4229 The point is that the Lions looked very shaky against their divisional opponents later in the season, beaten at home by the improving Packers, and lucky to escape at home against the Bears before being thoroughly outplayed in the return game.
Add in two less than convincing wins over a Mullens led injury laden Vikes and the Lions look pretty shaky in their own division. Definitely not the dominant team some Lions fans now imagine.

The Bears and Packers both dominated the Lions late last year. We can ignore the Vikes after week 8, but don't forget that they dominated the Packers at Lambeau in week 8. There is no reason that Darnold can't produce Cousins level play, and Flores has reshaped the defence now too. The Lions could easily miss the playoffs.

Dude, the Vikes were the only team other than the Lions in contention for the division in week 16 with Dobbs/Mullens/Hall at QB. Darnold is a major step up from them. McCarthy might not get a start in 2024. If the Vikes could dominate the division with Kirk, don't under-estimate what they could do with a younger mobile QB, and a second season, this time with a made to order defence that Flores improved from 31st to 13th last season.
2 Years ago everyone thought the AFCWest was going to be a tough division -- remember Rich taking the Raiders over the Chiefs? Instead there was one really good team and 3 total busters. This year the Bears are the Chiefs and the Packers, Lions, and Vikings are the scrubs.

The NFC north is being a bit overrated. GB is not going to be very good this year. Minnesota and Detroit will be about the same as they were in 23. Chicago will probably be a little bit better than they were in 23. That will put the division around the middle of the league.
