Ya, it might sound bitter as a Bills fan but I think regular season MVPs are far overvalued when it comes to discussing who the best players are. The Bills' defense was decimated with injuries & Diggs was absolutely sucking, yet Josh dragged the team from out of playoff contention to winning the division & being the #2 seed, but he didn't get consideration. Dude said Burrow went on a Linsanity run as if Burrow didn’t lead the Bengals right back to the AFC title game the following year after starting that year 0-2. C’mon now.
Now, I’m a die-hard Bengals fan, and at this moment in time I do think that Lamar Jackson is the 2nd best QB in the NFL. I’m impress with Lamar’s overall talent and greatness. But just as there are questions about Burrow’s durability (which is fine), there are questions about Jackson’s clutchness in a game’s critical moments (which is fine, too).
And until one of them wins a Super Bowl first, what’s gonna keep this whole Burrow/Jackson debate going throughout their careers is just that: Durability vs. Killer Instinct.
So may the best QB win.
5/14/24 | 12:50 a.m. | EDT
Lamar’s OC’s fail him, not the clutch moments. Consistently the best regular season rushing offense in the league and then playoffs start and the whole script changes. You can’t have your RB1 and RB2 have single digit carries combined - you’re asking to fail. Also Lamar didn’t make Flowers fumble on the goal line. Just like everything in sports there’s *** on it, but anyone watching the games cannot blame Lamar’s ability in big games. He gets straight let down by the game plan.
Mahomes got the SB this year because after getting clapped by the Raider’s D they figured out to game conservatively. That’s good coaching. Ravens honestly have some pretty poor coaching in big games as of late.
Edit: Kansas City Native. We had no business beating Baltimore but thanks Harbs and Monken.
Burrow peaked in the 2021 season. He'll never get back to the SB.
@@benjaminschmitt3225 - All-time great quarterbacks’ legacies are made in the playoffs by overcoming setbacks and hard challenges. Lamar had more total yards against Kansas City in a loss than he did against Houston in a win, but because Baltimore stream-rolled Houston on the ground by rushing for nearly 250 yards nobody noticed. Baltimore knew they couldn’t apply that offensive philosophy against Kansas City. Mahomes and Reid are too smart and talented for that, so they HAD to change their game plan for the AFC title game. And turnovers will happen. Yeah, Lamar didn’t make Flowers fumble on the goal line (which, by the way, Flowers was trying to score when that happened), but Flowers didn’t Lamar fumble in the 2nd quarter or make Lamar throw one of the most boneheaded INT in NFL playoff history either. Another Quality season of football is fast approaching
Burrow has beaten him a couple times
Saying Lamar has a winning record over Allen is just wrong. 1) Winning is not a quarterback stat, there are another 52 players on the roster as well as coaches who all need to perform to win. QB is the most important player but isn't solely responsible for all wins or losses. 2) Lamar doesn't even have a winning record against Allen. The Bills and Ravens are 2-2 since they were drafted, but Allen and Lamar didn't start the first game. Since then the Bills are 2-1 and have a playoff win over the Ravens.
By every metric except INTs Allen is a much better passer than Lamar, and is overall more valuable for his offense. Allen has 4 straight seasons with over 4000 yards and 40 total TDs. Lamar has gone over 4000 total yards twice, never gone over 3700 yards passing, and had only 1 season with 40 total TDs.
If you are a QB wins and playoff wins guy, you should prefer Allen. If you are a stats guy, you should prefer Allen. Lamar's MVPs are impressive. He deserved the first, but last season would have been considered Allen's 3rd worst. Idk how Lamar actually won it.

Josh Allen has a passer rating of 100.0 with 2,723 yards, 21 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 10 games in the playoffs in his career.
Lamar Jackson has a passer rating of 75.7 with 1,324 yards, 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in 6 games in the playoffs in his career.
There's not a single GM in the NFL who's taking Lamar over Allen. Not 1.
If winning doesn’t matter then why does everyone hold playoff wins against him?
I love how everyone brings up the Lamar having two MVPs yet they completely ignore the fact Allen is statistically better in every way. He literally almost doubled Lamars total TDs last year, yet somehow the MVP just so happened to fall into his lap. You can miss me with that BS. The disrespect Allen gets is insane
11 more ints last year, worse QB rating, effectively the same career QBR. Ravens have won 75% of their games with Lamar as a starter. Comparing Lamar and Allen isn’t disrespectful to Allen. Prescott threw more TDs than Allen last year, guess that means he’s better?
Allen’s Gota win
@@TylerFaith-tm1hj the Ravens won one more game than the bills with how many more pro bowl players than the Bills had? People need to stop confusing team accomplishments with individual ability. Dan Marino was one of the greatest QBs in NFL history but never won a super bowl. Trent Dilfer won a superbowl. Does that make Dilfer a better QB than Marino? Jackson won MVP because the Ravens finished first in the AFC, not because he produced more than Allen. And the INT criticism is horseshit, when you have double the production, and when you have less help, you will have more turnovers. A good gauge to determine individual ability is to look at how each QB performed against the chiefs in consecutive weeks in last years playoffs, Allen played like superman and Jackson played like Lois Lane against the same exact defense. Jacson put up good numbers and he's a great QB too, but he was helped by a better supporting cast and was asked to do less. When you are asked to do less, you have less ints but you also have less yardage and tds. Against the champion chiefs, it required great play from each teams QB and Allen clearly played better than Jackson because Allen is a better QB that is more capable of carrying a team by himself.
It’s because Baltimore is a low volume passing offense. The Harbaugh’s love running the football.
It’s because he has better stats from a volume standpoint. Baltimore is a low volume passing offense that wants to run the ball. Lamar doesn’t get as many opportunities and they don’t call his number in the redzone when running the ball.
I’m almost positive Lamar does not have a winning record against Allen. They played during their rookie seasons but Allen came in relief of Nathan Peterman and threw like 6 passes in the 4th when the Ravens were up by several scores so that doesn’t count. The Ravens won in 2019 but the Bills won in the 2020 divisional round and in 2022.

Arnett said "Lamar had a winning record against Josh Allen" lmao bro what games are you watching?!
At the end of the day... Lamar style of play doesn't lead to victories deep in the Playoffs. It's more of a gimmick offense if you ask me...
Raven’s having the #1 rushing attack in the NFL and then giving RB1 and RB2 like 5 carries doesn’t lead to victories deep in the playoffs**
It’s not a gimmick.. they just didn’t run the game plan that brought them success all year. Not rocket science. Even Mahomes hands the ball off more.
This is my problem with guys like this, if you have to lie (which he did when he said Lamar has a winning record against Allen, which he doesn't, plus the .500 record they share deserves context. Such as Allen has beaten Lamar twice in a row, and in 1st 2 games in which Allen lost, the Bills were a bad team, yet Lamar team was jacked) to make your point, then your point probably isn't actually valid. If this guy wanted to argue about Lame over Stroud, that's cool. But Lamar isn't a better QUARTERBACK than Burrow or Allen, he just isn't. Lamar has NEVER even come close to having a 4,000 yard season, and had a single season of throwing for 30 or more TDs. All the other guys, except Stroud, have multiple. Oh and Lamar is a playoff choke artist. Lamar has been horrible in the playoffs, while every other QB, including Stroud has played very well in the playoffs. Lamar is a good QB, honestly 6 sounds about right. This guy doesn't actually have the argument he thinks he does. The argument around Lamar is absolutely stupid, it's either people ranking him to low or way too high. And both arguments are garbage. The truth is that Lamar isn't as good of a passer as Burrow or Allen or Mahomes or even what Stroud was as a rookie. But at the same point he is better then most QBs. But for this guy to be upset for people properly ranking a guy just shows that people suck.
Has burrow ever thrown for 35 TDs in a season? Lamar is just as good of a thrower than those guys. He doesn't have Allen's arm, but burrow doesn't have Lamar's arm. Burrow and Allen have better WRs. They all have the same amount of rings, but Lamar has 2 MVPs. Why is burrow better than Stafford?
Triggered so hard you probably sobbed the entire time you wrote that wall of text.

The guy with multiple MVP’s probably. Harbs and Roman did Lamar no favors in the playoffs. Monken trolled 2023 vs the Chiefs by not running the ball at all.
Truth. 30 mph wind gusts, they ran the ball very well then decided to just pass it. Went for 2 long field goals which Tucker missed. Bills kicker missed one too. Poor game plan. They should have kept running the ball and gone for it or punted on fourth down when a fg was over 40 yards.
