- Friday was the first day of Detroit Lions rookie minicamp at the team’s training facility in Allen Park. It was our first chance to get an in-person look at the six players the Lions selected a couple of weeks ago in the 2024 NFL Draft in nearby downtown Detroit. I don't think anyone expected Jarred Goff to be able to do the things he is doing when he came to detroit, but he really has solidified himself as one of the best QBs in the league, and all the detroit lions have done is added talent around him to help him be successful. In 2023 he put up over 4,500 yards with a 30 to 12 touchdown to interception ratio. Dan Cambell truly has come into this town and completely changed the culture of this team in a very short amount of time. Is he a perfect coach, does he always make the right in game decisions, obviously no, and in fact I thought he cost them a chance to go to the super bowl, but at the same time, he was the one that led this team there, and I feel like everyone plays with confidence knowing that he is always willing to take any risk. I just feel like this team is built to win and after getting even deeper the NFL needs to start paying more attention.

I am not a Lions fan, as I am a Titans fan, but even I got to respect a team that has legitimately worked hard to get themselves out of the bottom of the barrel and that had, in all honesty, gotten themselves to a point that is even higher than what Barry Sanders and company had achieved for the Lions in 1991, which was considered their previous high point. I do genuinely think that, if things go well, and not to how they went in 1991, that the Lions, gasp, might not only actually get to a Super Bowl, but that they may also win one as well. I do hope that this comment ages well and that I also earn a lot of money for my comment.

This our time to shine Detroit stand up
They didn't lose much during the off-season and addressed much of the weaknesses from last season in the draft and free agency, so we shall see soon how well that will pay off. Would be great to see them win one ring in my lifetime!
We lost CJGj (who wasn’t that good for us anyway), Josh Reynolds, Sutton (who was a liability in the 2nd half of the season), Benito Jones, Jonah Jackson, Romeo Okwara and Charles Harris among notables. Sutton was replaced by 2 veteran cbs that played better last year in Robertson and Davis, and two starting caliber rookies. Jackson was replaced by a pro bowl caliber player in Zeitler who is a lot better. Jones was replaced by Reader who is much better at both run and pass. They replaced Okwara and Harris with Davenport, who is on a prove it 1 year deal but has familiarity with Glenn and Campbell, and has potential be better than what he showed, compared to the last two years of Okwara and Harris. Reynold’s production will be replaced by an improved Jamo, and DPJ who will be more familiar with the offense. Iffy came up strong in the 2nd half of last season and was the better of him and CJGJ, and Joseph should be able to put his inconsistency behind him in his 3rd year, and Branch should play more Safety.
They improved on their biggest weaknesses (secondary, interior D line depth) improved their biggest strength (oline). Positions not immediately improved on still has potential (WR, DEs behind Hutch, also hopefully a full year of Houston rushing the passer) improvements at positions through young players gaining experience (RB with Gibbs, TE with LaPorta, LB with Campbell, CB/S with Branch all hopefully stepping up in year 2), maintaining special team stalwarts with the new kickoff rule, along with reliable guys like Fox, JRM, and Daly, and Goff being steady and knowing how to take advantage of all of his weapons. The only position that I see right now that is truly a weakness and not at least middle of the road is kicking, specifically long range. Badgley is reliable inside 50 and is good enough at extra points, but sometimes you need that long range kick. Of course they may be holding out for Bates which is definitely an upgrade there. That is the only weakness I see right now, everything else has been improved to at least middle of the road, with potential, a testament to the great work of Holmes and the FO
Lions got much better this offseason, which is scary. Their offense is going to be lethal this year
I knew Goff would do what he did so far, he took the Rams to a Super Bowl and the coach never really tried to work with Goff strengths like Ben J has. When Brad Holmes brought him over I knew it wasn't because he was desperate bto have a experienced WB it was because he knew what Goff could do because BH was one of the guys who helped draft Goff to the Rams.
so the lions rebuild is better then any team in the nfl yep i can see how unhappy there gonna be when the detroit lions win back to back superbowls 24-25🤷♂️💪🦁🦁💪🤔👍

The core of the coaching staff is back in total.
We may have a harder schedule, but we already faced half of the good teams we're playing just last year. We have a pretty good idea of how to play against them, although the same could be said for them as well. Still, the tougher challenges will just build more experience and resilience, which will prepare us even better for the playoffs, if we make it.

@@adgee5401 But he was drafted as a project BECAUSE of his lack of polish. It is highly unlikely he is ready before ‘25-‘26. Especially since they are having him play at a different position on the opposite side. Any expectation of him starting next year needs to be squashed because thats just setting yourself up for disappointment when the coaches straight up told you he was a project (just like the did with Broderic Martin, yet people still bitch when he didnt start last year or struggled a little in his snaps).

I was happy when Goff came here, the lions had definitely proved the truth of the old saying insanity is doing the same failed process over and over and expecting a different result, it was time for a change.

Spencer, good video. You did a good job talking about the players, and the team. What you didn't do, though, is talk about how the NFL is trying to hide it. On the contrary, the NFL is trying to SHOWCASE the Lions. Scheduling prime time matchups, pitting us against the Chiefs for game 1 last year, flexing games to the "game of the week" slot, etc..
Your videos can stand on their own merit, you really don't need the click-bait video titles. Especially when you don't deliver on the promise of the title. I'll keep watching your videos, but if I see another blatant click-bait title, I'll be blocking rather than subscribing.

Yes, most scouts had as a UDFA as a safety and day 2 as a rb. I believe he hit 21.5 mph on gps so he's got see ya later top end speed. High ceiling as a rb especially behind our oline.

When you say that you don't ever think that anyone ever expected Jared Goff to be able to do the things when he came to Detroit, you're wrong. There are a lot of us who thought that we won that trade, and in a large way. We got a better quarterback who was younger, and a couple of first round picks. I've got text messages with a rams coworker fan to prove it. You doubters need to stop lumping everybody else into your bullshit way of thinking.

They didn't really do much to be better then what they was last season. They desperately needs someone on the d-line to help out Hutchinson. They drafted Arnold but they're still weak at CB.
This goes to show the type of leadership we had that's running the Lion's 🦁 Organization the right way! It's going to be even scarier when they see how much success we going to have because we're going to be winning so much that it's unreal! 💙🤍💙🤍
