    'Death-suited' was also because in the real life incident Larkin had come from attending a funeral

    I have or had a record where Larkin reads this beautifully. I hope I can find it. Someone should post it.

    A brilliant analysis with lots to think about. I so wish my English teachers had been half as good as you. I suppose what comes across is that you love poetry. I never had that impression from the teachers at my school at all. So thank you.

      That's a very nice thing to say! Poetry isn't to all tastes and Larkin an often an acquired one for some of the most ardent poetry enthusiasts. Sorry your school experience wasn't the best, but hopefully that won't dampen your love for words and what they can do.
