Heartbeat is a british period drama series, based on the "Constable" series of novels written by nicholas rhea, and produced by ITV studios (formerly yorkshire television until its merger with ITV) from 1992 to 2010.
The series is set around real life and fictional locations within the north riding of yorkshire during the 1960s, with most episodes centered on stories that are usually distinct but sometimes intersect with each other some episodes contain a singular story centered on a major event.
The program initially starred nick berry, niamh cusack, derek foulds, william simmons, mark jordan and bill maynard, but more main characters were added to the series, including jason durr, jonathan kerrigan, philip franks, duncan bell, Includes additional cast Involved.
Wiley, lisa kay, tricia penrose, geoffrey hughes, peter benson and gwen taylor. production of the episode included filming of the exterior and exterior scenes around the north riding, with interior scenes being filmed at the leeds studio and around whitby and gothland.

R.I.P to the cast that are not with us anymore. The others are aging quite well. Especially Kazia who does not look any different.
My fave was David Lonsdale playing David ,he pulled off the part really well perfect foil for C J .Greengrass

Half way through this series, and sad that some are no longer with us. Really miss Greengrass in the show.
Awesome character. That one episode where we dug up the garden looking for the coins was so funny. He hit the water pipe & lost the coins 😂
I absolutely loved "Heartbeat" and am watching all the Repeats ! So Very Sad that so many of these Wonderful Actors that we came to love are no longer with us. May those that have passed over Rest in Peace. 🌹xxx

We have the entire series on dvd and have watched it so many times. We love it!
Maybe it's my age, the programme caught the essence of the 60s, the best decade ever.
A few cast members from the series missing from the video, Duncan Bell who played Sgt Dennis Merton for example.
Some of the Heartbeat cast have aged well, some haven't but unfortunately we are all getting older; it's part of the evolution of life.
I still enjoy the reruns of heartbeat, it harks back to better times. Amazing how beautiful all the ladies still are. The guys seem to have aged well too.
Love this series, but miss Greengrass the most.
I remember meeting bill Maynard in goathland village were heartbeat was filmed I took a photo of him and my dad shaking hands the photo still hangs on my wall and he was great even though he was going to do some filming work it was 1995 I would give my two arm's to go back to those times I will always love heartbeat 👍❤️

Actor, Rupert Vansittart was born in 1958 so he was 34 in 1992, it’s quite easy to make someone look older than they actual are in the makeup department. Actress, Stephanie Cole was only 42 when she first starred in the sitcom , Waiting for God - they aged her up to look like she was in her 80’s.
Heartbeat was my favourite TV program and I like Nick Berry was my favourite!!!
Bill Maynard as Claude Greengrass was the star of show - it went downhill a bit after he left. Unsung hero was Peter Benson as Bernie Scripps. My other favourite character was the lovely Clare Calbraith as the super sexy Dr. Summerbee.

Jason Durr got more handsome as he got older. Also Mark Jordon and Nick Berry.
Oh... my goodness! Jason Durr. Now there is a man with good genes in his family to have aged looking so handsomely. Taking pride in his appearance can only contribute so much. Although I have seen him in different shows, I hadn't made the connection to Heartbeat.

He could have been a well cast "James Bond" in other circumstances IMHO.

This show has starred some really great actors over the years, another fantastic fact is the number of other famous stars who have appeared in the show as guests, it would take some putting together but would produce yet another interesting list of facts about this truly great 1960's based show.

Absolutely brilliant viewing Heartbeat was in the mid to early 90s I still watch it to this day when it is repeated on tv a classic drama to my mind that will never age 😊

Went to whitby last week, the actual place where 'aidensfield' was screened, tho just for an interesting fact dosnt actually exist, the place is called 'goathland' really surreal little village. Would love to have been in this brilliant cast, one of my favourite ever programmes!

This evergreen series was and still is...wonderful entertainment....it had the quality of instilling an empathy within the viewer....more than a soap opera...with often very sensitive and beautifully constructed storyline...I.E...Daniel with Gina and Phil...the descent into madness of Jenny.....and resulting pathos surrounding Dennis....a truly epic production

The show's on every Friday night here 9:00 we're at the year 2007 George Miller is the latest sergeant of the Ashford Lee police department he's quite strict and disciplined and I think it'll finish in about another two more years I believe I don't know whether they'll revive it again but it's quite interesting series

David Lonsdale was one of my favorites too but Penrose and her starcrossed lover, police officer had the most compelling story

Exactly, and is so obvious! For example the "now" photo of "Vernon" looks like a still pic from the Heartbeat series back then. You can tell many are not photos from 2020, some look almost exactly from the same time as the show or soon after🙄

Yes those wonderful shows have gone but thank goodness for repeats which I thoroughly enjoy over and over.The Royal another lovely show,they cut them off too soon and you dont get a proper ending.I am loving watching Call the midwife repeats waiting for the new episodes.Now it's all so called reality garbage which anyone with half a brain wouldn't tune into.I absolutely detest this sort of piffle and would rather read than tune in.Start making good shows again promoting respect for others,it would make a great change.🏴♥️👍

Bill Maynard was born in 1928 and died in 2018, he would have been 64 when he began playing loveable rogue character, Claude Greengrass in 1992. Rupert Vansittart whom played Lord Ashfordly was born in 1958 so he would have been only 34 when he started filming Heartbeat in 1992.
