    Sheesh, what a design. I'm old enough to have owned cars in the 60's-70's (Olds, AMC, Chevy, Ford) and it was easier to change bulbs back then. Usually just a socket that twisted out. And I didn't need a tool that looked like a snake's forked tongue. Wrestled with pushing that back lens off and still can't get it loose on my Elantra. Headlight is a b***h to access too....hard to reach. Back then, a gas station attendant/mechanic would replace the bulb for the price of the bulb.

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  Před rokem +2

      Yeah things getting complicated and it be scary to pull that light if it brakes $200-300 for new one

  • @DR-tv7te
    @DR-tv7te Před 2 lety +6

    Best way to get this light assembly off without damaging anything is to remove the bolts and the rubber plug then take a long socket extension and place it in the hole against a flat spot make sure it's not against the light caps or anything you will damage. The hard clip holding it is under the narrow piece of the light if you wiggle the light lose and squirt a bunch of lubricant behind where the clip is it should release easier from the clip. Then cover the light in duct tape leaving some hanging at the back to grab and pull it backwards. When all this is done get 2 people one to hammer the extension from behind and the other to tug on the duct tape. It will take some force but it will pop out. I struggled with this thing for months until this worked for me. Good luck it's a huge pain really poor design.

      My experience exactly. It's still not off. I used Gorilla Tape and yanked. The whole care was rocking. Did not try the lubricant but I will. Maybe ask a friend to hammer the extension too. Hopefully your extra tips will get it. Thanks.

  • @okguy7032
    @okguy7032 Před rokem +1

    Why when I turned on the "headlight" , my left brake light is not turned on and the dashboard flash the "brake light" issue warning light.
    (Luckily the 3rd brake light and the right side brake light works, so, cop should not pull me over for the left brake light not turn on ).
    There is no problem if I don't turn on the "headlight". ( I must turn the knob to AUTO LIGHT , not to the "HEADLIGHT" knob. )
    Hyundai service tech. explained that when I turned on the headlights to the "Headlight" knob , the connection was overheat - "melt" and not touching the left brake light socket (something like that ).
    I never heard of that explanation before. My other 2 hyundai elentra (2012 & 2021) had /has no issue like that.
    Any insight ?

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  Před rokem

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  Před 2 lety

      The center one was single flair but this is how I tell if it’s single or double one u can simply look inside

      @@RBTheMechanic I took the car to a mechanic, and he couldn't get the lens off either!!! Earlier, I had bought a shower wall grab handle with suction cups. I was able to attach one of two cups to the lens in a flat area. The mechanic, younger and stronger, was then able to slide the lens forward by pulling the handle forward. No damage to the lens.
      I had bought a mirror/glass handling suction cup....it was too large for what little flat space there is on the lens. The mechanic charged me $5 (for the bulb)(shock)....he gets my future business! Thanks for your comments and clip....folks like you make CZcams great.
