Adding my voice to the chorus of people saying that the video was helpful. Hitting the bolts with the hammer (nuts attached) was absolutely necessary, and your video was well lit - I could see what I needed to be doing.
Thank you! Glad to hear that you found the video helpful! You are very kind!
As a guy with zero knowledge about car repair, this video was exactly what I needed! Thanks!
Glad it helped
I usually don't really comment on any videos or subscribe to channels but you were the only person real enough to tell people to hit it with a hammer and that saved me a lot of time and money and I gotta thank you
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for your kind words!
I'm glad this worked for everyone else, but not for me. I pounded the crap out of it until I broke it. Now I am screwed and the light is still out.
Sorry to hear that :(
@@VirarAutomotive Thank you buddy. I tried again and somehow got it to work. I really appreciate your vid and your reply!
I spent 30 minutes pushing and pulling on the lite and could not get it to budge. after watching the video I had it off in less than 30 seconds. thank you so much
So glad to hear that! I had the same experience when I was trying to first figure it out how to get the light off.
You are not hammering on the mounting studs, that way you can easily break them through the housing. While pulling the tail light assembly back, you slightly hammer on the white plastic grommets of the friction alignment pins. That’s what a Hyundai mechanic told me, and it works like a Charme
Thank you for the tip!
Much better plan!
TYVM for the clear & concise tutorial!
Thank you! Glad to hear that you found the video helpful!
Excellent video! Your instructions are very clear and easy to follow and the views in the video are also clear and easy to see what you're doing. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for this video!! Very straight forward and well explained 👍
Thank you. Glad I could help 😃
Thank you so much man! I just saved $150 by changing it myself!
Thank you! Glad to hear that you found the video helpful!
I watch around 6 videos on this topic. Yours was the seventh and last video. This is the best of them all. I almost broke my left rear tail light doing it wrong and with frustration. I actually used a hammer on the 2 bolts with nuts attached. Thing was, i didnt hit them long enough as you were showing. I gave up to soon thinking it should have already poped loose. After seeing your video. I went back to steady hammering and it worked! After the red bulb housing came off. I took a look at why it was so hard to remove using advice from all the other youtube videos. They are wrong! The ones that say to push hard on the light and a rearward direction. How can that be with the 2 bolts preventing the unit from sliding. First, the 2 bolts have to be popped out from the sheet metal. Once the 2 bolts are pushed out. The next step is to slide the unit rearward. Thanks for the best video on the subject.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Glad you found it useful!
Thank you!! I could not get that darn light off and was about to give up when I found your video! Cheers to you.
Glad to hear that you found it useful!
Thank you. Great video. Changed by brake light bulb all by myself, thanks to you!!😊😊

Thank you!!!! It was so hard trying to get them off before this.
I know eh. It took me a while to figure this out myself too!
Thank you. Helped me put my friends rear bumper back on.
Glad I could help
Thankful for this video. Need to replace the assembly and this gave me the direction I need
Glad you found the video helpful!
Thanks! They were trying to charge me $240 for this at the auto shop!!!🤦🏽♂️
You are the man thank you!
Glad to help!
very thorough...thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Easy fix, bro..thanks
Great teacher!!!!
Glad I could help!
Nice job! One suggestion: When you hit the studs with the nuts on, put a socket on the nuts to protect the threads from the hammer.
Good Suggstion. Thank you! I'll be sure to do that for the next video :)
Do you have a video for the secondary light bulb replacement
Very helpful
Thank you! Glad to hear that you found the video helpful!
Me quedó perfecto, un video fácil de entender y que me ahorra algunos dólares.

I want to be as cool as this guy one day
Haha. Your comment made my day. Thank you for your kind words :)
Thank you 👍🏾💪🏽
Glad I could help!
Very good. Thank you! I shall be following these instructions as soon as I can get my hands on that #2357 bulb!!
Sounds great. Good luck!
Used the reverse bolt idea and it worked. Kid dropped the bolt like getx1265, but I left it and will go buy a nut later
Thank you for sharing. Glad it helped!
Great video! Can you do one for a Toyota Camry as well?
In the lineup. Planning on making one soon.
Is there a video to the headlights?
Not for this exact model of the Elantra. But here it is. Very similar. czcams.com/video/F7qL0kxkdhw/video.html
Always check light after replacing before you put it all back together.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing :)
My brake light went out again. I just got pulled over. I remember last time trying to get this off for 3 days. Going to Walmart to change it, not even going to mess with it.
Try out the method I show here and it will come out easily. Good luck!
i have a question bro my car tail light is bulb so can i change the whole light into LED it can bhi fix or not ?
Yes if you want you can just replace the regular bulb with LED bulb..
If you want to replace the entire light with another LED design light, then yes you can do that too. There are many aftermarket options for it.
@@VirarAutomotive for the entire light does it need to change the wiring or just simple
It depends. Most are simple plug and play. No need to change wiring. But check before buying the new aftermarket light.
Good day! Could you show that for Elantra 17-18 ?)
It's same. I just changed my bulb on 2018 using this video as a guide.
@@ivanpodgornev2470 Yea, already did it by the same way. Thanks.
Yes its a very similar process.
Tried to do it how you had it on the video but couldn't get it off!
Sorry to hear it. All I can suggest is to try again. I fully know how hard it is to get the light off. I struggled with it a lot too when I was making this video.
So far, after a half hour, it's a solid NOPE. Can't get the tail light assembly out/off even after loosening bolts and assembly. Something is catching on the inside and hold it so it can only rattle but not be extracted. Also, of course dropped on of the nuts so had to undo the trunk liner (breaking two plastic rivots off) to retrieve it. Nothing's ever as easy as CZcams videos.
2:26 ... this "easy as that" is where I'm stuck.
Definitely something holding the assembly in place besides the two bolts I've hammered to death.
I am sure it gets frustrating. But the light is exactly as I show in the video here. I figured out the method to hammer the nuts out after struggling with it for a long time too.
I'll be interested to see what the clip or obstacle is that is holding it in place still. Son (car pro) is going to fix it this afternoon.
Sound like a hoe
Use a mallet
Yes that would be the better choice, but not everyone has a mallet and a hammer is more commonly available in almost every household hence I made the video using the hammer.
@@VirarAutomotive 👍🏼
Thanks for the suggestion I would use a Malet better
I know these assemblies are hard to take off, been there. This time I followed your "tip". Broke the #@$?! out of it with a small hammer. It's plastic man! Maybe on a brand new car you can get away with it. Not an5 year old car that's seen lots of sun and heat. BAD ADVICE.
I never hammer on plastic. The hammering is on the metal studs and metal nuts.
@@VirarAutomotive which are mounted in plastic on the other side.
The studs are not mounted anywhere. If you see in the video, when I am reinserting the light back in, the studs slide right in the holes. There is one plastic clip on the taillight yes which is never hammered upon.
After hammering the studs once the light is loose, you have to slide the light out of the body as I show in the video, to get the taillight out of the plastic tab.
@@VirarAutomotive ok, we agree to disagree. My stuff is busted. I had to modify the assembly so it will stay on the car. The studs are GONE. Broken off during the hammering. Just be careful I guess. Maybe I used too much force. Good day.
I want to ask hyundai , what the heckkkk
Yeah, it's not easy :(
I used 33 cars in my life between toyota honda MB chevy doddge and ford. Elantra 2019 is the worest car i buy ever.
Sorry to hear that.
