- We recently purchased our newest project vehicle- a 2003 MINI Cooper S with a custom pearlescent blue paint job , manual transmission, and several performance upgrades. Unfortunately the previous owner blew up the engine so in this video we go step by step and show the process of removing the engine and transmission. Stay tuned for the end of the video when the Mini fires back to life with its new engine & transmission.

Fantastic walkthru. I’m about to start this process on my R53. Appreciate you putting this out there.
Best engine pull video Ive seen, doing this tomorrow will be watching again as I go thanks.
Heck yea dude just enough motivation for me to pull out my old r53 engine n slap a replacement in !!
Comments like these are the reason I make these videos. Thanks buddy!
That was really interesting!
Good video to help fellow DIY’ers. However, the joy of video editing - I’ve done my fair share of engine swaps on these r53’s and I’ve never seen or experienced such easy bolt removals especially on the ball joints! 😉
Hi Mark. I've definitely experienced pesky ball joints before on r53 models. This car, however, was unusual. It took no more than 3 walks to the control arm and she was free. I definitely got lucky. Thanks for watching.
Thank you sir
what was the problem with the engine of the r53?? mine sounds like that too
Did you have to bleed the slave cylinder when bolting it back onto the engine? Great video! Informative-keep up the good work..
Hello. I didn't crack open the hydraulic system. Therefore, I did not have to bleed it
@@Rurik_JustCruzn thank you…
I noticed you only disconnected one of the O2 sensors?
Hello John. It's been a while since I did the job but if my memory is correct; I believe the downstream oxygen sensor doesn't connect directly to the engine harness. I would definitely keep eye out for this just in case your experience differs from mine. Best of luck
