      I feel very mixed on the whole situation. I think Hannah is a very complicated person too- she’s without a doubt very manipulative but in later seasons, knowing about her anxiety, it becomes clear that perhaps that manipulation comes from a desire to control her environment. Also the actual firing was dodgy- yes she shouldn’t have had those drugs on board without a prescription and without Sandy knowing but Malia only brought it to Sandy’s attention when she didn’t get her way over the room swap

    The frustrating thing about the Hannah/Sandy thing was Sandy was treating her like she was cooking meth in the gallery or using the boat to smuggle heroin or something. Hannah has a very obvious medical condition (that Sandy has witnessed, first-hand, on numerous occasions) and Hannah simply didn't register the medicine with the ship's log ... which is a completely different situation than treating her like a narcotics smuggler. I like Sandy, but nobody came out of this moment with their dignity intact.

    • @lyndonhill7984
      @lyndonhill7984 Před rokem +55

      Oh no.
      Firstly, it's a major safety rule of commercial boats and offshore platforms that medicines MUST be registered as soon as you board. Instantly fireable offence right there.
      Secondly, Hannah didn't have a prescription. If it is for a genuine medical condition then she should have a prescription. Sandy is not a doctor and cannot say if Hannah should or should not take it.
      Thirdly, the combination of a non-prescribed drug plus the marijuana pen looks very much like recreational use. They said the pen was definitely illegal; I assume that they checked the applicable laws.
      Fourthly, since a third party reported it, any option for Sandy to use her discretion was not viable. And it was on TV...
      The only thing that Sandy didn't do great was to follow Hannah to make sure the drugs didn't get flushed - she already had a witness to Hannah admitting she had the drugs. Following Hannah was purely for the drama.

    The last firing on the list with Andrew seems like the most benign one, he exaggerated his resume. However, they said he didn't know what he was doing, was dangerous and could get everyone killed. So instead of getting rid of him they kept him onboard for one more charter.
    It's so hypocritical of the crew mates when they say he hadn't paid his dues and didn't deserve to be there unlike them who were all professionals; following which the chef had a dirty liason with a stew in a guest cabin, the chief stew folded the principal guests towel in the shape of a penis because she was angry with him and the chief deck hand tried to start a relationship with one of his staff who initially reciprocated then blanked him.

    As someone that works on a cruise ship, I can 100% see where Malia and Sandy were coming from. When you join a ship/yacht you have to present your valid medical certificate, part of that is a sections about mental health and medications. If you're taking any prescription medication it needs to be disclosed when you join the ship, I even have to tell them I'm taking birth control because it's prescription. When you work on a ship/boat you are constantly "on duty", even when you're not working. If you take something that has any sort of side effects like drowsiness etc then the medical team need to know as it could affect how you deal with an emergency situation, and safety is the number 1 priority on any boat.
    The way Malia went about everything wasn't great, but Hannah should've known better and followed the correct procedure from the begining, as she's been in the industry for many years, she knows the rules.

    Captain Sandy was secretly celebrating when she had enough "ammunition" to finally fire Hannah. She's been wanting to do it for 6 seasons and getting her on a drug abuse charge (pot + no prescription for the Valium) was the PERFECT opportunity. In some ways, I do feel for Hannah because she was clearly struggling with severe anxiety issues and panic attacks hence why she needed the Valium. BUT the way she treated her fellow stews, Captain Sandy, Malia and others was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional. So I can see this from both sides. Part of me does think this was a setup to get rid of Hannah from the boat.

      Drugs need to be monitored especially as guests can access wherever the heck they want - thinking of children and drunk adults.
      Captain should have spoken to her off camera. There was no need to make this public and way Sandy handled it was insulting. Sandy didn’t even know the process for what she was doing, surely as such an experienced captain she would have checked prior to starting the conversation.

    Hannah was the worst type of middle manager on a narcissistic ego trip. Sulky to her superior and a border line bully to her subordinates. Her sacking made me glad.

      Valium is actually a muscle relaxant, hence its use in epilepsy, etc. It relaxes muscles and fools the brain into relaxing too. But, like say alcohol, it can give cause loss of inhibition or conversely activity being 'slowed down'. Either way Hannah was clearly in a bad way with severe anxiety and needed time out to get well. Self-starter achievers especially may push their stress levels to unsafe levels. Panic attacks can hit anyone but chronic stress and chronic fatigue raise the risk.

  • @Sezfluffy
    @Sezfluffy Před měsícem

    Hannah, if you watch carefully has a separation trauma as some important male figures died when she was young, and its left her with an anxiety disorder. She works hard, and is brave in the face of it. Malia is disgusting.
