These tesla repair prices need to be investigated
As a collision tech, it's not the shop, even though aluminum repairs cost 3 times as much because of specialty equipment, training and certifications, it's parts and paint that are the problem with cost. Also, there is ALWAYS hidden damage. We have to rebuild the vehicle to factory specs and use factory procedures. It takes years of experience and training to repair aluminum vehicles. If you want cheaper repairs, then stay with a steel gas vehicle.
Honestly they aren’t really any higher than than any other luxury brand. They just had a Range Rover on there other channel with similar repair cost.
Because a low impact rear ender totals most teslas.
Take the suggestion above people, buy gas cars.

@@kenyattaclay7666 I would think the Range Rover parts would be more expensive because they are sourced from out of the U.S. But Tesla parts are made in the country so should be cheaper. I'm thinking it is Tesla putting huge mark-ups on their parts.

@@That_YO_guy_1200 It turned yellow BEFORE she hit the solid white line. But if you slow it down, that is one of the shortest light cycles in history. 5:52 it turns green, 5:56 it turns yellow. The city should take some responsibility there.

6:49 yeah, the fact they did nothing until it was too late is odd. you could see the lights from a long way off and, considering the road was clear well behind, simply slowing doing and pulling in behind the neighboring car would have been enough to avoid damage.
@@foxtrot2134 This a good example of why "whip around" passing isn't a good idea. You don't want to enter a lane at high speed without a clear view. There could have been a sofa or a broken down vehicle in the lane. Not seeing those headlights immediately indicates poor situational awareness...
The collision repair costs for Teslas is beyond insane. Insurance companies must hate these vehicles.
It's not just Tesla, all cars have been getting significantly more expensive to repair. As a result, everyone's insurance premiums have been increasing as well.
My friend just brought a Forester and I asked about Tesla and he said most insurance companies will not cover Teslas
Its American capitalism. I have had worse damage on mine here in Australia and cost more then half what these crazy repairs are costing.

I’m pretty sure there’s a “book rate” for collision repairs just like there is for mechanical repairs. These rates are standardized for how long a repair should take to complete and then calculated based on a shop’s hourly labor cost. I can’t see parts being cheaper in Oz, so maybe labor is.

@@edipires15 I don't think the driver turned it on because it is blinking faster than the normal one you can compare them after the collision had occurred.
Last video might've been an insurance scam. And Luke might've been Jedi-mind-tricked into NOT passing along the Teslacam video showing the brake checking SUV.
was going to mention this. Applying US law, from the video it doesn't look the vehicle that came to a complete stop on the highway had a lawful reason to do so, therefore it would be at minimum split liability between the two parties.

1) It appears the bus was attempting to avoid rear-ending the SUV in front of him.
2) 4:55 Matthew needs to take a defensive driving course. He should’ve anticipated someone pulling in front of him because the truck with the trailer was stopped for a reason.

Tristan parked his model Y in front of walmart . While he was shopping inside . An old man came near his car an just stared at the car for about a minute . Then he decided to key a very small scratch that was 3 cm long . Tristan sent the footage and the damage to his insurance company who deemed the car a total loss😂😂😂

For Mike Cerman's video at 5:50 , I'd be having a talk with the city as well. Who designs a traffic light that stays green for only 4 seconds? The bus couldn't even clear the intersection before the light was about to turn red.

Hey Sarge 10:28 , from the evidence shown on the front cam, side cam , and still pictures, it looks like your wife was in a mobile igloo as well. That was quite the avalanche we saw upon impact. Canadian law, thankfully, does not consider an apology as an admission of guilt (Insurance School 1.05 ;) )

I could be wrong but, the plate that wasn’t trackable might be a Ontario plate, some ont plates have 3 letters and 3 numbers with blue font on a white background so maybe that’s the reason why they couldn’t track it

If you pay attention to the cost of repair, it really isn't consistent. Number 11 had light front passenger panel damage of a Model X that cost $12,000 and Number 8 had deeper front passenger panel damage of another Model X that cost $7,700. What gives?

I think some people in San Diego are wishing they were living in Canada.
"Servo" is short for "Service Station", as often in days gone by there was almost always a mechanical workshop attached, so you could get your car serviced there as well.
These days they are more akin to convenience stores, as there is not a lot of profit in selling fuel alone.
Also 99% of the time you put fuel in the car and then pay for it in the shop, (they want you inside to buy impulse items). Late at night you will probably be asked to pay in advance.
CC payment at the pump never really took off, though it was an option many years ago. I'm sure some stations do offer it.

#8 5:46 the light was yellow, not green. the green light only lasted for about 3-4 seconds, that's got to be the shortest green light cycle ever! i did a quick search and it seems PA law doesn't prohibit proceeding through a yellow light, so it does not change the fault.
it seems like many drivers when turning left seem to assume that when a light turns yellow the other drivers will stop. never assume the other driver will stop, and if you are going to proceed through a yellow light, watch out for drivers turning left.
also note, there are some states that require you to stop for a yellow light if you can stop safely, so it's not a bad idea to get in that habit.

When i see this right, there is sufficient space in front of it and he doesnt drive too fast to trigger an aeb. Maybe the car detected the speeing / not slowing down van from behind?
It is pretty common to flash those when traffic comes to a sudden stop. It is to signal to anyone behind that they need to slow down fast.
@@magnusbjrke8065 that could also be it. Didn’t thought of it at this moment because it was only three times. But if I would have flashed the hazards three times to warn the other cars behind me I would also have watched the mirrors and maybe tried a evasive manouver.
@@MarsPLAYStudio Yes, I normally hit the hazards when I see people in front of me doing it. And so does most everyone else. That usually means just one thing, everyone is coming to a near complete stop. So, if anyone coming up behind is NOT flashing their hazards, they're probably not paying attention and it may well be a good reason to get out of their way.

The indicator was flashing fast three times.
When I activated my hazard lights they just flash at a normal speed but not that fast. When the indicators flash that fast it’s normally because the cars triggers them.

I’m surprised Mathew didn’t have airbag go off or warning lights and his car didn’t shut down in middle of the STreet! I’ve seen other teslas that has less damage or got tapped in the rear that disabled the teslas.
Mathews tesla got destroyed as the Honda got away with an easy bumper cover replacement since they just clip on/off!
#12 the parties that were involved could have told the police what happened(this does include admission of who was at fault). Plus there could already be video evidence admitted
#8 their light was yellow before they entered the intersection. So it wasn't green.
Last one the driver that stopped in the middle will likely be charged with negligent driving, and will also be paying for the damage as well.
I've lived in Wisconsin for about 35 years. I cannot express the level of frustration I feel when I see cars driving around without wiping the snow off their cars! It's bad enough leaving it on the roof to fly off and blind people behind you, but so much worse when they don't even at least clean the windows- ALL the windows! Seriously, how stupid do you have to be??? Why would you want to create more and larger blind spots for yourself? So sometimes when I'm in a parking lot and the snow is done falling and I can just tell someone chose to not clear their windows, I'll just do it for them. I drive a Grand Caravan so I have an extra long brush and scraper so I clean the roof too. When I see people less capable of doing a thorough snow removal (elderly or if they have handicap plates or placard), I'll offer to do it for them if we're in a place to do so safely, not in traffic on the road at least.
