Ubisoft must be allergic to selling games.
That’s fine because I’m allergic to giving them my money so it’s a win win. 👍🏻
They don't want you to own their games anyway.
@@EllanaWolfthat’s actually really fucking sad. One of the worst companies out there and would easily burn your house down for a share increase
Just when Japan thought they got rid of Johnny Somalia, Ubisoft pulls this stupid bullshit
literally
Must be nice not to get shadowbanned for using the last two words there...
@@victorvargas9330 my shit gets taken down all the time. I'm on their watchlist lol
I feel bad for the Ubisoft employees that didn’t get to make Yasuke trans.
Oh gosh could you imagine that! Lol. Not happy about a black Samurai but that would be dreadful
🤭 I think it would have been funny. AC Shadows is already a joke.
Ha ha ha.
They still can, just make the person going into the Animus a woman, and they can say its "a woman in a men's body". Also, is the Animus still a thing or did they scrap that?
We all know the girl is going to be "trans" because is she's a tomboy and they don't know the difference between dress like a boy and or girl having male traits and transgender.
Wouldn’t a Japanese samurai be minority enough
When dealing with the woke who constantly lowers the bar, playing a game of limbo is actually more fair.
This whole thing is myopic at best and proof we need to bring back insane asylums at worse. It’s a historical figure being used as a jump off point. Previous games didn’t get the exact titles and history of the knights Templar right no one complained. A distinction that is usally lost in translation between kosho sword bearers and samurai is common in a western audience because samurai are viewed as warriors. But that’s not all they were they were knoble clans and had lineages and were a class of people like the traders and farmers of japan.
A kosho sword bearers depending on skill may be taught to nearly but not quite the level of a samurai but will never earn that title as they are not born of samurai blood.
The thing is do you think the average western audience is gonna know what a kosho means and how it’s many meaning may effect how it’s procived by audiences. Nobunaga was not taking yasuke as a mistress so that use of the word kosho dosen’t work but it can also be used as a word for sword bearers it’s a context word. If I was trying to port it to a western audience I’ll uses the word that many think of when they hear Japanese warrior a samurai.
Asians and especially Japanese are basically whites by the woke logic
They recently complained that their wasn't any black people in the TV show Shogun.
Asians are considered “white adjacent” so a Japanese male protagonist isn’t diverse enough. Might as well cast a white man. Asian women are cool though because wahmen oppressed.
A black man being a Samurai or Monk in Feudal Japan? Give me a break.
He was a vassal in Japan and historically existed so. 🤷🏻♀️ he’s not a race swap.
@@katrose5179 Wrong. They've never confirmed that in japan and its once more the insecure-ghetto trying to worm their way into places they dont belong. +
@@katrose5179maybe not but he also wasn’t a samurai leading other samurai into battles. Let’s be honest here yasuke was nobunagas side show attraction did nobunaga like Yasuke? Sure but there’s no way in hell he would make him an official samurai or have him lead his men in battle
@@Jay3uptechnically a samurai didnt have to be a general leading men in battle, he was more like an official warrior under a shogun which Yasuke could be, but i do agree that racism was high in Japan and Nobunaga would have just kept him because he was black and ofc was physically stronger than the average japanese. But no doubt that Yasuke was a warrior. But he never was an assassin and thats what pisses me off. Why couldn't have they picked a real life shinobi if they had to go the Assassin's route.
@@teznarayanan that’s also what bothers me I would have no issue if they included Yasuke as a historical character you can meet in game but having him be the secondary protagonist? Especially when there are so many much more relevant samurai from that time period that they could have used

Yup
DEI is everywhere, don’t expect much
Dude, they literally have Hattori Hanzo to be used as the protagonist!! But no!! The pandering is much more important!
Wouldn't be shocked at all if they make him a villain.
Pandering when the actual Japanese acknowledge yasuke as a actual samurai and over talking them in a fictional game about assassins formed by famous artist is something
@@TheSylar1982 No they do not, he has no temple, no statues. He was literally mentioned in some historical text as being a Koshu which is on par with a shoe cleaner. They've acknowledged him in a fantasy manga but do not even attempt to say they acknowledge him as Samurai.
@@TheSylar1982 No they havent confirmed anything. Some people in the west tried to manipulate some PIECEMEAL soundbite-text from the dark ages to try and force MORE dei into a place like Japan. Your a joke for believing whatever schemers farce that is, sylar. +
@@Frenchy_47it’s a video game not a history lesson
I don't care about the characters, I'm not buying this game because it'll be full micro-transactions, bugs and just filler content
Yeah even without the woke crap , the game would be a sup par , cash grab anyway , I bet they have the slow grind , plus xp boost mistranslation
Origins was amazing. Liked valhalla. Sucked since.
This is just the loudest part of it. The real crime comes to purchasing the complete version for the same price as a full campaign of Star Wars Outlaws. $130US.
Hel, them virtue signaling, made me not buy the game.
And I was one of the people who was willing to pay extra, to support these games. Even willing to pay a bit more at launch, to get a extra skin.
But game 5 and 6, made me stop buying the series.
5 was a absolute shit show at launch. Could not be played on computer. And when I came back to it, a few years later, I had to change codes in the game, to make it run.
And 6, talked about how great Marx was. And was soaked in second and third wave feminism.
@@haraldbredsdorff2699I
I lost count. What was 5 and 6 again ? For me , AC was at it’s peak when Ac Black flag and rogue was out … I even like 3 with it’s brutal kill animations
To be fair, Assassin's Creed stopped being historically authentic when it introduced minotaurs.
That’s not the issue. The issue is that they chose a figure from Japanese history which has zero to do with their culture and didn’t have any impact what so ever on said history. Why couldn’t they just go with a fictional character like they did in every other game?
Eliana is right. Having slight amounts of mythical characters that represent the culture is different than choosing an irrelevant figure for the main character to check a diversity box.
@@EllanaWolf Theyre trying to force-in this character hoping ANY way to normalize sending hordes of migrants to Japan. Any, Way they can try to get them used to this. Its all these schemers out there think about.

@@onojioboardwalk9748 Ubisoft ain’t that smart, nor do they care about how Japanese people feel. It’s really just DEI points
So Ubisoft, when are you going to make a game set in Ancient Africa?
Never? There's nothing interesting there?
Origins?…
Egypt is in Africa
@@misterrightuk I mean the other parts of Africa. I mean, a game set during the eras of Mansa Musa or Amina, with Anansi and other mythologies would be dope (especially since they dropped realism long ago). But of course that requires research and a spine, something Ubisoft doesn't have.
Whenever they do it, it better star a Mexican as the protagonist.
I think the answer is never, they would be forced to show history and culture of Africans. And it wouldn't be pretty and would not forward the narrative. On contrary, would shine light on true slavery origins and who actually tried to dismantle slavery and better yet... if it's in modern day Africa... there is still slavery going on there practiced by a certain demographic (:
I’ve spent a good hour looking on twitter watching people try to defend this. Calling people racist for not liking it
Yep. Twitter is the epicenter of stupidity
Odd isn't? They are sneaking in channels they aren't subscribed to as well I've noticed, doing the same thing defending this crap and calling anyone who is against it a racist, in truth the racist are the ones against the idea of the character being a Japanese Samurai
Oh God, when will people stop being enslaved by a word...
@@MajesticWaffle especially posters like gamer7916. js

This game would have been a slam dunk for anyone with 2 neurons working inside their brain.
So, no one at Ubisoft.
The portuguese didnt know the butterlfy effect they would cause by bringing one black dude to japan
Why do u think he was sold quickly after his Master died.
Ubisoft: Activate the Panderstone!
Never knew the Japanese got nuked thrice
if ANYONE says it is historical....they are nutters.
This isn't historical and the entire franchise just uses history as a base for fantasy. They KNEW whom they were aiming for.....the "normy" (ha)
It will make the shitheads who play believe it is history. That's the real danger, just like people I've met who believe in 300. 😭
"Games journalists." are paid for in mind and wallet. What they have to say usually have little to no value.
A monk Assassin maybe voiced by Hiroyuki Sanada, that would have been awesome.
Ubisoft crushed that dream alright … maybe they call Samuel L Jackson 😬😅
Good lord, please stop type-casting the poor guy as a Samurai-esque character in everything. He's an acclaimed dramatic actor in Japan, but in Hollywood, he's just relegated to "middle-aged man with katana" in every project.
Gotta love how stupid ea and konami are. Granted this isn't their problem but what they did back in the day started up with this shit
I dont think Konami is woke. They are staying neutral.
And as greedy EA Is im surprised they have gone woke.

Honestly they should have gone with a fictional character like Jin Sakai. Musashi was never an assassin, but they could have gone for some real life shinobi.
Yeaaa and they did great idk what your saying🤣
The Shinobi were Samurai who underwent special training in stealth, spy craft and subterfuge. They did recruit from the peasantry but the idea that they were a separate class that rose FROM the peasants to counter the Samurai is a myth.
Doesnt take much digging to find this stuff out. Seems Ubisoft did no research and went with the Cannon film version😆
The original story sounded really cool a monk turn assassin so he can use hidden blade and a katana & I also don’t mind the girl protagonist just that they should’ve done right by Japan and introduce the 1st asain male assassin or a more historical samurai that help free it’s people .
Well, damn it all, now I'm _really_ pissed. This plot sounds absolutely amazing, and it was being developed about a decade ago?! What. The. Fuck...
I can believe that this was a change made by a DEI commissar after the story was written.
The braindead logic I find funny is people on Twitter calling ac fans like me racist because I want to play as a Japanese man where is the logic and I've played every ac from ac 2 to Odyssey.
Considering actual history and the fact monks fought and were slain by Nobunaga and other Daimyos, a monk seeking revenge or justice on Nobunaga is instantly a great story premise.
So admitting you throw that out for a unrealistic story, which depending on the villain might even horrifically out of character as what little is known about Yasuke, he seemed loyal to Nobunaga and the Oda clan, to the point where he may have (if it's true) lead men for the Oda in a battle after the Mitushide's betrayal.
Really would have been better doing a fictional monk, turned assassin because of Oda's rise.
It's not historical, it's hysterical
Best comment
I believe that story with the Japanese monk is a way better assassin's creed game than the final product.
Is Jin Sakai not a mixture of both Samurai and Shinobi?
He was super upset about hiding in the shadows
Yasuke did not come from the ranks of the Samurai. He was a foreigner.
They are upset they didn't dictate the cultural appropriation... western game studio makes Japanese game, but if you are an ally to woke... you can dictate as much cultural appropriation to fit your hierarchy of representation politics
I dont get what they where thinking. Doesnt make sense on so many fronts. Historical main char bad: it does hamper more open storytelling. Two different chars bad: if you play the ninja, you will miss the samurais strength. If you play the samurai you will miss the ninjas agility. It will never feel right.
Should have went with two shinobi and tons of costumes.
Diversifying everything bad: if everything has to be diverse, nothing is. If they succeed, everything will be the same grey mush.
And that Outlaws game was allegedly about Han Solo. I'm starting to see a pattern. I will be curious to see how that pans out. Since it's Ubisoft, I wasn't going to buy it anyway.
I don’t mind Naoe as one of the protagonists. But they should’ve added a Japanese male Samurai as the second protagonist and a Ronin as the third protagonist.
Another ubisoft game I refuse to ever pay for or play.
Uhmm sometimes Shinobi wer'e also Samurai/bushi. They served as "ninjas', Spymasters, infiltraitors, saboteurs etc, for their Daymio's
I thought that trailer was a troll, what a fkn joke. This could have been one of the greatest Assassins games yet, but nope looks terrible
Was looking forward for an assassins creed set in Japan for years, now I don't give a 5hit, it would be the same if the Samurai character was white, he should have been Japanese, what a massive disappointment.
"AShinobi and Samurai came from different social classes" No they did not. Shinobi were Samurai. A Shinobi was actually just a skill set for a Samurai just as you'd have an archer or cavalry.
I’d liked to think Jin Sakai story to hold some truths , that the shinobi or the ninja’s were former samurais , and during the war with the mongols saw they were getting obliterated and their country getting destroyed , adapted themselves and used whatever means necessary to overcome the mongols , use of firepowder , traps , grappling hooks , and poeple started training in the way of the shinobi years after , and were used for black ops missions
@@Streetrocker28 . the best person to check out what we know of actual historical Shinobi are on Antony Cummins channel and books.
Iga province where Shadows is set was a Samurai village and not a Ninja village. It was a village where Samurai specialised in espionage, spy networks, and guerilla warfare.
" we must hide in the shadows and hide out in the open." Has anyone seen the 6'5" black man anywhere?
what is funny, yasuke was only a sword bearer lol
and an oddity to the Japanese
I don't care either way I just want a good game but from what I gathered this dude in real life was not part of the crew but he was allowed among the crew? basically a Waterboy for the team or the kid you have lugging around your bag of golf clubs whereas here in the context of the game it seems like they're trying to make him seem like the Big D swinging who is very much part of and leading the team.
The hero should’ve been a shinobi and the Templar villain should’ve been a samurai. Would’ve made more sense if the Assassin was a shinobi.
All the comments about “How can a black man be a Samurai?” Are really ignorant. There was an African man in Japan around this time who could have may well been a Samurai. Do your research
They're not from 2 separate classes in society, if the "Samurai" you choose to depict is in fact a peasant, too...
What's funny is that other self-proclaimed YT "journalists" like YongYea never covered this revision or any involvement of Sweet Baby Inc. Has anyone found Kiryu's balls?
Funny how this leads with DEI and just ends up being racist making fun of blacks
Naoe seems fine, Yasuke is just woke nonsense. Is it that hard to find a Japanese samurai for the male co-protagonist?
It's not historical, but it is hysterical.
Looking forward to your video showcasing your vintage Celica. At least DEI will help you reach your goal sooner.
So Ubisoft blackwashed the character to score Didn't Earn It points? 🤔
I am Jack's Complete Lack of Surprise.
They said that samurai and shinobi are of different social classes but hattori hanzo was a samurai AND shinobi.. prerty sure shinobi is just like espionage so a security officer in mi5 or more simply a spy
Also, as the Metatron has pointed out, there were samurai shinobi.
Holy shit. CZcams will demonitise your chanel but still earns from those videos? that's fucking evil mate.
Far Cry and Assassin's Creed have finally merged.
In fairness fairly little is known about Yasuke from what little I've read...
( A Page or a token Samurai... Who knows... ) ~
Think we all know the likely reasons why the developers chose to take the direction they have... ~
( At the end of the day it's a glorified action fantasy game & surprisingly may still turn out to be pretty good... ) ~
Though regardless of that, If this fiasco gets people riled up enough to check out actual historical research from reputable sources...
( Then that in my book is a really good thing!... )
No supprise Ubisoft name was on Sweet baby inc website.
The monk turned assassin could have been a nod to David Carradine's character in the 1970s Kung Fu series. Couldn't make that today. Y'know, cultural appropriation. Probably why they dumped the idea.
Tokugawa Ieyasu was the shogun of William Adams. They could have tied so much together with this. they could have kept Yasuke in and brought Adams in later. Ok, there was 20 years between Yasuke arriving in Japan and Adams arriving, But, AC Japan 2, or a DLC expansion?
so they replaced what would've been the most historically correct sort of a thing that was sort of a ninja(ninjas were invented later to put in stories from older times but still quite a while back) with a black dude.
shaiit. why not go full blaxploitation and make it fun while at it. at least that would be fun. shaaait
When I think of an Assassin Samurai I think of Rurouni Kenshin or example of a black man Afro Samurai , not a man in big clunky shogun armor.
Samurai was a social class, a shinobi wasn't, that's a bullshit right there. A shinobi was a mandate of a job, a samurai was a cast. A samurai could be a shinobi, as much as a trader could be one as well, or a scholar. A shinobi was a spy and intel gatherer. If he was also a samurai he might have been able to kill somebody efficiently, but that wasn't the primary job of a shinobi. Btw the girl supposed to be a shinobi using a throwing-star as a weapon? that's rich..... it's some fucking anime bullshit right there. Those weren't shinobi weapons but just toy weapons for training not even used in that region. This game is based on fantasy, which is fine, but still I can't see myself playing a game using a uber black dude as a samurai in feudal japan. I might use the chick, but in the cracked version of the game for sure.
“I’m absolutely butchering these” haha funny
I don't really care too much about Yasuke angle tbh. There might be room to navigate it without being aggregious, but it's not a good bet and a needless hurdle. I think it's yet again Ubisoft being out of touch and of poor timing, given this dei era we've been forced into. It just seems like franchise suicide if you ask me. I wouldn't even be surprised to learn that SBI had a hand in this direction, which is enough for many to not buy. Anyway, my first thought was wondering how a huge lumbering dude in extravagant armor could have any plausable stealth element? I would have preferred a monk for that reason alone.
I feel like this is going to be Mr.H’s gayme of the year!
Can you talk about megalopolis?
1:47 WHHHHAAAATTT Ghosts of T was made by a western studio???
I really like the Assassin's Creed games but I knew they were going to shoehorn some 'inclusivity' into this one
This will be the first mainline AC that I'm not buying, it's just getting boring and predictable when developers do shit like this
I guess this is just further proof dei isn't interested in actual diversity, heck the deluxe edition will probably be the real game whilst the standard edition will have modern vernacular both with the dialogue and voice acting
she's kunoichi
I feel its abit of a wasted opportunity and actually the Japanese assassins creed, could of spanded over 3 games, instead of squeezing so much into one game, the history and potential to cross over to other regions in Japan and further a field would have been amazing.
they could of also introduce characters like Yasuke as a side character along the line.
Assassins creed has always been historical fiction for me, but just a shame that they wasted an opportunity, to at long last do AC set in Japan, but making one of the leads black? I wanted a hot Japanese, Ezio, type kinda character.
And then, THEN to call it AC SHADOWS - r they trying to be racist cos Yasuke is black? Thats taking the piss!!
Yasuke was at best a retainer or squire even. Never a samurai lol. And was only a retainer for like a year before change of rulers lol

Why buy anything from Ubisoft?
What's better? Ghosts of tsushima or sekiro? Hooe its sekiro, i have an Xbox series x and switch only.
To me it’s the intention behind it , if it’s made by Japanese people themselves with genuine japanese historical consultants like Ghost of Tsushima , most people wouldn’t have a problem. But it’s made by an incredibly shady ,greedy western company, whose “Japanese history expert” was a woman specializing in gender study and male-male love with Buddhist narratives in ancient Asia . This whole thing just feels less genuine and less sincere. They most likely gonna insert lots of modern day western political views in an ancient Asia setting.

The story of Yasuke has been debunked and discounted over and over again. It’s about as historically accurate as House of the Dragon 🙄 HOTD took some inspiration from English history but that’s it. Likewise with Yasuke and Japanese history.
Here’s an idea - an Assassin’s Creed game set on the continent of Africa, steeped in its rich history and mythology..? No?
Luckily for me I don't buy any games from ubishit anymore.

What I'm really curious about is, why would anyone even bothered themselves with buying anything from Ubisoft in the first place?
So people have an issue with a black man that did exist in Japan for a period but don’t have an issue with the game Nioh (with a white Samurai that also existed). Assassins Creed is a video game, NOT real life.
A retainer refers to a vassal in feudal Japan, usually a samurai providing military services.
@TongSandoval I know. And to be fair both men still existed in Japan. And this is a video game franchise that has never been 100% accurate
