Congratulations on your graduation Mia👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉🎉🎉The world is your oyster…..I wish you great success in your future endeavours💪🏼🙏🏼
Thank you so much!!
Excellent vlog. All the good luck to you Mia. You can do whatever you put your heart.😊
@@paulinthephilippinesolddog9234 Congratulations! Wish you all the best!
So Mia is the only child that her both parents abandoned. I wonder how many in the Philippines are like Mia? I hope there is a part two interview with her grandparents and let's see what they have to share. Mia is going to be great. I can see from her eyes that she is motivated and wants to reach her goal. Good luck Mia
Many and often the grandparents raise them.
She had a positive outlook for her future and that is important
That’s a huge part of success
Believe in yourself
I hope the best for her
17yo in Philippines is more independent than a 30 yo in America .
Grand Parents are often amazing when it comes to their grand kids...
It’s not unusual to impose on relatives with little or no discussion. Mia may not use the word abandoned regarding her mother leaving her with the grandparents
There are thousands of young people in situations like this in the Philippines.
Many of them are hardworking and honest.
Mia, keep up the good work.
Millions
Thank you, Paul, for presenting the interview with Mia. She impresses me as a courageous, determined, positive, cheerful, and absolutely lovely young Filipina with a very admirable can-do attitude. 👍 Congratulations on your high school graduation, Mia. 👍❤ Success to you throughout college and in your future career as a policewoman. 👍❤
I am a foreigner, living with my family in the Philippines. I believe in education. I provide for my daughter and niece who are both now at university. I pay their fees and their living expenses. They are studying Architecture and Pharmacy respectively. It's called a leg up. They have decent futures and will hopefully do well and support their families. They do not need to worry about money because it's all sorted. The payback is my satisfaction at their achievement.
There is what in our culture what we call “debt of gratitude”. Rest assured when you get old and incapable, they will repay you back not in the form of money but in the form of taking care of you.
I agree
Education builds that foundation
It creates options

U r an amazing guy .God bless u my friend 🙏🙏🙏
@concepciondental7953 AMEN! Well said and we all will pray for her marvelous Future!
This is so common in the Philippines. Mia has an amazing attitude and hope she has complete success in all she does.
Her story is inspirational and heartbreaking at the same time. Thank you Paul for giving her a celebration for her hard work.
Paul is always smiling and laughing and that’s why I enjoy his videos
MIA stay focused on your goals; you WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. AND CONGRATULATIONS ON GRADUATING 🎉
Mad respect for her, and anyone else going through this. You got this Mia.
Kudos to this girl!! Total winner! Very smart to get her act together at such a young age and all while her parents left her. A thousand cheers!
Everyone who has normal parents are very fortunate. I wish this young lady all the best! Congratulations Mia, on your graduation 👏 👏 👏.
You should be proud!
Greetings Paul and Mae. Thank you for the story of Mia. Congratulations Mia! NEVER QUIT!! Now here, Paul, I wish to challenge your watchers to help Mia, and possibly others. I personally would like to donate a monthly stipend to Mia's college fund and her daily needs. I will commit to $50 per month. Others may commit as they choose. But I am in USA, and I do not know how to accomplish this. I would love to establish a charitable foundation to help people like Mia, but I know little to nothing about such things. HELP! I KNOW what it is like to grow up in poverty, need, neglect and want. I was 9th of 10, born to Appalachian parents with father who had a 7th grade education and my mother had NONE; couldn't read or write her own name; no bathroom, no indoor plumbing, no TV, no phone, and no everything that everyone took (and takes) for granted). We were just one rung above the Amish (we had electricity). I am the only child of 10 to graduate HS and go on to college (all on my own!). Mia, you CAN DO this!
I would email Paul and he can tell you how things work.
You had an amazing personal story and the fact that you gone this far to be able to help the less fortunate like Mia is a good measure of success not too many are able to attain. As a Filipino who is not well endowed I always dream of setting up a foundation that would level up the playing field for the kids in the Philippine countryside as education is such a formidable liberating force, but sadly it remains a dream. Nonetheless I am taking great satisfaction in knowing about your plans and I really wish it takes off soon in any modest way. Thanks for giving our kids such needed lifeline !!!
@pmurray8065, I SALUTE U! And Paul, Baby Mae thanks for helping and bringing us closer to real world in Philippines!
EXACTLY my sentiments also . VERY happy to help Mia with her journey from here too .
Thanks Paul, for the interview with Mia. She is an impressive, determined, positive, and absolutely beautiful young Filipina with a very a mature attitude. I am a Filipino American (Fil-Am) living here in California. How can I help her (and I am sure there are a few more of us who may feel this way) to achieve her goal? Please let us know either how to send her some assistance directly or through your channel. Looking forward to hearing from you.
I would like to help as well
I would like to send a little also.
I do not know you, the host, or the girl, but I can say that after being in The Philippines since 2004 (with some time out teaching in Korea & Saudi), probably the best way to help would be to directly contribute by paying tuition to the school itself. School tuition here is VERY cheap compared to American schools, but when a person has no way to earn money, even a pittance for tuition becomes impossible. Contact the host somehow and get the particulars of the school so you can make such arrangements as you can. Good luck to both you and Mia.

Such a lovely girl who has had a terrible ride in life with both parents taking off. I am a Correctional Officer here in the USA and I wish her all the best of luck. Never look back Mia just look forward and make your dreams come true
She is cute and has a great attitude. Most people don't get to see how happy people with nothing can be. This is how it is all over the world.
Good point
That might even be the key
Minimalist living has de stressed me
I suggest it for those living broke and depressed
@@RetireandGo material possessions can create additional stress. For example, I used to have four cars. I would need to keep them clean, maintain them and insure them. I am starting to dispose of my material possessions in preparation for retirement. Now I am down to two cars with less stress. Step by step
@@Wesna269 I’m happy to read this
You are starting to let go of those material things
It was hard for me at first as I spent so many years trying to keep up with other couples and friends
Now I have basically what is in my backpack
And I have lost some friends over it
But I have made some too :-)
She seems like a kind person. I really wish her all the best.
Very important interview to make people aware of what these kids suffer through! Thanks!
Congratulations young lady ❤ shoot for the stars and never lose that beautiful smile
Paul I know you understand what you are doing and judging from the comments Mia certainly will get support to help her find better accommodation and further financial support. So easy to do as long as she is allowed her youth and dreams (although she with knowledge might open her mind to other careers) and particularly with further English experience and such a lovely attitude the world is her oyster. Happy to help if you wish to establish a fund for her. But you already know that. Cheers and thanks for helping her have a special celebration for her graduation.
I have asked Paul to please advise his followers how to help Mia so we can assist her studies and further her journey .

Miss Mia, is a very bright and resilient young lady, with the right attitude to make her life right, and be happy with what she wants to do in life. She is very pretty, and I am sure when she decides to find a partner, she will have no problem finding the one she has dreamed of. My thoughts and prayers go out to her🙏🏻🙏🏻, and congratulations on graduating 🎉👩🎓😊
My wife's grandparents raised her till she was 14, then she went to manila to work in a bar/restaurant. Her grandmother is 103 now
Thank you Paul for addressing this issue and I hope we can help these families with some kind of assistance.
Let us know please ✔️
Exactly what i asked Paul one hour ago .

I love her smile. What a hardworking girl, wishing the best.
She’s so lovely. But most of all, she’s very smart. She’s paving her own way in life to take care of herself and her grandparents.
She’s not waiting for a man to save her. I’m sure her father leaving showed her the fragility of that.
And thank you to Mae for being so supportive to other young ladies working to better their lives.
She is a strong survivor
I think she will do great
And an upbeat attitude with a positive outlook
So important
What a beautiful young lady in every way and congrats to her for Graduating still being responsible enough to keep her life on track and all the very best wishes for her future and her great attitude towards others. My thinking is there are no words to describe a young lady who has suffered hardship and is still in a struggle to cement her place in life, fantastic story Paul & Mae please find some more like this, Cheers & God Bless.
WOW! Hit me in the heart. Wishing her the best. Such a strong and focused young lady. God bless her grandparents!!!!!
Awesome vid...Thanks for sharing your adventures...
What a beautiful young lady…breaks my heart about her parents…it happens a lot in the Philippines….Thank you Paul for the story…😢
Smart young woman with good family values. She's also absolutely stunningly beautiful! I wish her the best.
Congratulations to the young beautiful woman 🎉❤she's so sweet
Filipinos are very resilient!
It amazes me how good They're clothes look when they live in a dirt shack. Perfectly white, straight, wrinkle free shirts and pants. So impressive

I’m amazed at how they work hard and maintain a strong family

All of us who got fuc*Ed over by their parents are resilient as possible.
Another insightful interview that presents a slice of life that we are not often exposed to. Heartwarming and inspirational, it reminded me of the interviews the both of you did with the Asparagus farming sisters up in the hills near Valencia (would love an update on those two remarkable young women, by the way!). Thank you so much for sharing your world with us and being such great ambassadors for your community. Your work is influencing lives all over the world, both there and abroad, and in ways that we can only imagine...

Such a great story Paul. I am in Bayawan and watched a graduation ceremony of students here. It was inspiring to hear one of the teachers talk of her own challenges as a child and how an education got her to where she is today. Thanks for sharing! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Grew up in PH and everyday teachers taught us words of wisdom. My children born in US seldom I hear them talk of learning in school.
@concepciondental7953 why would they? They don't care. Remember where they were born!
Paul, Is back!!! great interview 👍👍👍👍👍 keep it up. 💪💪💪💪
I hope she does well! Thank you Mia for sharing with us, and thank you Paul for this video! It seems that the more I learn about the people there, the more I like the Philippines. They must be doing something right.

Steller video Paul loved this very much. Congrats to Mia what an awesome accomplishment, happy for her. Thank you for sharing how the other half lives in the Philippines. Your questioning was spot on, as it always is. Your videos just get better and better and your content is awesome. Mia is a focused young lady and will fulfill her dreams and wishes for sure. Take care, Paul, looking forward to more content in the future. God Bless you and Baby Mae,
Thanks 👍
It’s smart of Mia to stay focused on her goals and get through school before branching out into other things.
When I went to college I rented a room with the bathroom down the hall. My room had a slanted roof, so I could only stand up in part of it and the rest was ok for sitting. The bathroom on the floor had a bathtub but you couldn’t stand up because of the roof, so I had to go downstairs and use the shower on that level, or on the ground floor. There was a refrigerator and stove on the ground floor shared by 12 people in the house.
When my grandparents came to the US they worked several jobs each and eventually bought a house and ran a boarding house in it. My other grandparents lived in a YMCA room with their two kids during the depression.
The US is maybe a couple generations removed from a lot of people living on very little and scraping by. I think a lot of people still would have problems if they missed a couple paychecks.
From my limited understanding, I think a lot of Filipino people leave their kids with their parents and go look for work in Manila or other countries, so they can send some money back home. Regardless, I am impressed with Mia’s work ethic on getting through high school and focusing on college and doing well there
Nicely done, Paul. There are so many Mias in the Philippines. I wish her all the best.
Many thanks
