Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal sit down to talk about their careers together all the fights they had while playing for Los Angeles Lakers on Players only interview. #Kobe #Shaq
As a 32 year old born in LA in 1991, watching these two dominate basketball in the early 2000s was probably the highlight of my childhood. Damn, I miss those days....

Man, I did security for Kobe during his trial. I had had just left MARSOC and a buddy who owned a security company offered me a job. About 18 months after, during his trial, he needed full time security. I refuse to make judgments on what happened, I wasn’t there, but Kobe treated me with great respect when I was with him. He was funny, intelligent, and would have been a great soldier if he wasn’t so damn tall. I never got to meet Shaq. At that point, the rivalry was in full swing. Although, outside of the press, I never heard him say a bad thing about Shaq. He dubbed me the “White Death”, because he was fascinated by my military career as an operator. One night he made me spend hours making drawings of how our team would have breached and cleared the home he was renting. Literally spent 3 hours drawing maps and explaining to him how we kept each other safe. It was never the killing aspect he wanted to know about, it was always the team aspect.
What an awesome story and experience. Two people from very different fields of operations who had common ground and respect over teamwork and the precision that goes into it. Thank you for sharing it.

@@kingaries488 Sometimes we meet our "bros" late in life. I was fortunate to have grown from childhood with one of them, and the other three I met in college. My bro from childhood easily meshed with my college bros, and we basically became a clique 😂😂😂. Now in our 30s, we all still have each other's backs. Someone needs money, relationship/marriage advice, a foot in the ass when one of us is stupid (real friends hold no punches), a place to crash, food, whatever. From bro love to tough love, we're covered. Sorry for the monologue. I took a mental trip down memory lane 😂😂

No Shaq is and always been j of Kobe read between the lines Shaq starts at the very beginning telling on himself after he asked wat made him be killer mode
Wow.. One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. Not only in sport. Great setting, great conversation, great throwbacks. Two absolute legends talking about the most beautiful moments of this game.
GOAT interview. There will never be a duo in the NBA that was as controversial, as dominant, and won as many rings as they did then split when one or both of the players were still in their primes. This was what made this interview so special. Those "what if" moments.
@@aliyaj1018 yeah save to assume they were in the peak of their egos at the time and dark shit was being spit back n forth ..didnt need to talk about all that especially being a mainstream public broadcasting but i feel you...it wouldve been cool to hear them talk about it and forgive each other
The Rocco Cup goes to... Shaq and Kobe! Rocco's Cup is huge for both of these Lakers. NBA Finals, MVPs, All-Stars MVPs, and now Rocco's Cup. "Clearly, this is a real man thing," said God a Lakers fan since lakes were created, "by the power invested in myself, and as a favor to a friend, I hereby bless them both."
@@aliyaj1018 Exactly. The issue started when Kobe Bryant tossed a bloody shirt at a police officer and said, "Shaq..." in the middle of the summer in Colorado just before a surgery he didn't even tell his team about. Lakers screwed themselves out of Shaq's last championship and Lebron. All for two GD rings in 12 years just so Kobe could say "I got two on my own!" That's great. You could have had one just with old Shaq and then picked up Lebron in 2010 for another four. I will never for the life of me understand how LA thought they won from that deal. Old-ass Shaq 34-year-old Shaq got one just by himself. Prime Kobe heads into a 12-year span and gets 2. Okay, that's 1 more than Shaq, congratulations, but in the meantime, Kobe's contract prevented them from picking up four with Lebron lol Always baffled by all that
What a beautiful interview!!! The love and brotherly competition literally brought tears to my eyes. Rest in peace King Kobe and love to King Shaq. Just a beautiful moment that has been captured for us who love basketball 👑❤👑
LOL thats why shaqs 04 finals numbers are a fraction of what they were in his other finals appearances during his prime? Shaq's finals averages during the 3-peat were 35.9/15.2 and 3.5 blocks, his stats against Ben Wallace in the finals were 26.6/10.8 and 0.6 blocks. Obviously still great numbers but no one played him better than Ben. Even against Olajuwon just 3 years into the league in '95 Shaq had better finals numbers; 28/12.5 6.3 dimes and 2.5 blocks.
Lionel Muggeridge no one could handle shaq. Even though Wallace had 4 DPOYs he was as tall as LeBron and couldn’t put a body on Shaq so Billups, Rip and Sheed just denied Shaq getting the ball and also doubled Kobe so he wouldn’t pass to Shaq.
The thing is, during that time teams would either double or triple team shaq and he would put up the numbers he would. Ben Wallace was able to guard him by himself and keep him within the same numbers other would have to double/triple team him to keep shaq to. Being smaller than shaq (like pretty much everyone in the nba) he was able to do that with his excellent defense. Now, did he shut down shaq? no. Of course not. Possibly no one would be able to do that. But Wallace was able to guard him by himself. Which made his team able to focus more on the outside. Which kobe described and is what lost them that series. No one else in that nba at that time and very very few would be able to do what wallace was able to against shaq.
I'm a Pistons fan whose favorite sports memory is the 2004 NBA Finals. Still loved this. Amazed to see these two in such good spirits with each other, actually.

But “shaq carried kobe” 😂 honestly if shaq listen to kobe n worked out as much or half as much as bean a lot of things would be undeniable at this point in life
Despite their few beefs in the court, the respect they have for each other is incredible. RIP Kobe Bryant. The GOAT Shaq ❤
I’m glad Kobe ain’t let nobody stop him from being the greatest ❤
The moment that Shaq apologized to Kobe for being a jerk to him throughout the years was PRICELESS! RIP Kobe and Gianna Bryant! 34:02
He didnt mean it. They hated each other . All a FUCKEN show
@@kariyah6224 Perspective. People grow. Their relationship turned pretty awesome after some years.

Beautifull man. You can see they have love and respect now for eachother! If he didnt apologized he would regret this the rest of his life. Respect Shaq! He must have a hard time now. 😔
Baby Girl Oh please! Smh
Shaq has no ego when around kobe
Well they are equals when u see him on tnt he is clearly the best player and feels himself where as here its 2 Champions remebering the great things they have accomplished
Very refreshing. He's not himself on the panel with Chuck lol
@@mattwakeman6167 yeah I wonder why that is because I definitely notice it too?? He seems so genuine and likable here
same to Kobe... Shaq has 3 finals mvp in a row..only MJ and him had done that
Two alphas in one room. You know they got respect for each other, but they definitely don't like each other.
I will always come back to this video no matter what
Me too. Its motivational
They needed this, but the fans needed it even more thank you guys rest in peace Kobe
The way Shaq talks to Kobe is like an admiration in his eyes. Only smaller dude than him that he sees bigger than him. We all miss you Kobe 💔💔💔
I've never watched basketball, but I really see how he looks at him with utmost respect.
Of course man. That's his "brother." I'm sure you have a good friend that you would consider a non-blood brother, the guy that would be the best man at your wedding. I know I do. A couple of them.
@@MrPoetistic85 lucky wish I did 🥲😭
you're right. they won three together. he won one without Kobe immediately and Kobe won two without him half a decade later back to back.
What makes me happy is that this video has absolutely no ads

i got ads lol
Mine has 3
I have like 5😭
Thankful that we got this one on one before Kobe’s passing. Miss Kobe every single day as he was truly my hero. I live my life trying to be the way Kobe would be.
Live your life like Jesus would have you live it, not Kobe.
Jesus doesn't exist but kobe did..
I’m smiling the whole time watching this 😊, rip Kobe
Is anyone binge watching Kobe videos now after his death??😥😥
Aviatoraccounts Videos same it's terribly sad.
Stop being fake
Yup sucks
Aviatoraccounts Videos me
Yes, and I’m so glad there are so many videos and memories to comfort all of us a little at this time
I love that Kobe said, "I'm glad you won 4th, I needed that" and then you see his face change and go into Mamba mode, the rage swelling up, the passion spilling out "I wanted everyone to hate me so I can come back with so much anger and vengeance." that moment had me shook for real.
realm316 best comment so far.. same too bro!!
Word sick comment mamba mentality I saw it to
Yeah I was like holy shit You can see how good Kobe iq is I love every moment of it

Basically this was when he changed from 8 to 24
It's so cool they were able to reconcile before Kobe passed. They both seem like great people. RIP!
16:25 Kobe: “You remember playing against the queens?”--that’s so savage
At first I didn't know what team he was talking about
This is one of the greatest interviews I've seen in the NBA. It's so heartbreaking to know what's going to happen a couple of years later.

Why?…… everybody & everything is going to die eventually- DEATH IS A PART OF LIFE… some sooner than others some more tragic than others but this will happen to all… idk why people always seemed shocked like it’s not going to happen… to them too, me, & u… just the truth..
@Jay Hipfire yeah, but you can still accept death is inevitable and still grieve over someone’s death

I would be so mad when they won against Celtics! But the man undeniably was GREAT R.I.P Kobe & GIGI😩
😢😢😢
Sad comment dude
@a Supernova same
Kobe is a true legend … I do not feel as he is gone, he is all over my social media feeds. I”m kinda glad I still feel his presence. Real good dude.
Best big man guard duo to ever play together. I have so much respect for both these gentlemen and don’t think there will ever be another duo to bring what both guys brought to the table.
The next interview should be with Metta World Peace and the Detroit fan he beat up in the stands.
Wow 4K likes I was not expecting this, thank you to everyone who gave this a thumbs up🙏.
I laughed out loud to this comment... lmao thank you
Looool
Lol, round two maybe?
That was gold
They're Close Friends now.
“As brothers you don’t let your brothers down” Kobe having His back when he fouled out.
Taylor H I couldn’t help but respect Kobe for saying that. That’s loyalty right there. 🏀
Thats what this
generation need to understand
Maybe the most emotional basketball interview/doc ever. Way beyond talking game, seeing them at peace, laughing, is a blessing.
Being born in the mid 80s allowed me to see different great players and glad I was able to see late 80s, 90s early 2000s basketball. Still remember Kobe's first pair of shoes, did not have the money to buy them but did save up to buy Kobe Bryant Courtside on N64. Thank you for the great performance on the court.
It’s refreshing how they were honest in their conversation while being respectful..
That’s what happens when you accomplish incredible feats together.
@3%er By Blood he’d be the greatest of all time
It’s called passive aggressive 😂
It just seems like 2 men secure in who they are and what they do.
This video is a thing of beauty. I hope they gonna keep on making 1 on 1 on several players! Thanks for posting it
Chef Timour strange that they didn’t mention how rigged that series was 🤔
Chef Timour I can’t wait for kd and Russ in 15 years
Jordan and pippen!!
Kevin and Russell
Stockton and Mallone
What a great moment captured. Simply PRICELESS!!!
Kudos to whoever came up with this idea in the first place.
I needed to watch this again. There’s something pure about Shaq and Kobe interacting and finding peace together that really warms my heart. RIP Kobe.
And they're opposite signs; ♍ polar ♓
No Shaq is and always been j of Kobe read between the lines Shaq starts at the very beginning telling on himself after he asked wat made him be killer mode
Shaq don't respect a lot of people, you can tell, when he looks at Kobe you can CLEARLY see he respects Kobe.
They had a dynasty together
I love how they kept laughing at things in this interview. F*ck all the fights and the egos, you could tell they loved each other like brothers.
I can watch this interview over & over again. It's so heartwarming ❤
Wow.. One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. Not only in sport. Great setting, great conversation, great throwbacks. Two absolute legends talking about the most beautiful moments of this game.
Kobes death is like a glitch in the matrix. Still can't believe it.
True story..
I don't .
Can’t even imagine his last minutes and seconds alive on that helicopter
Nah they told and showed you years before it happened in a cartoon. Thats how the elites play.

I’m so glad they were able to do this before Kobe passed 🙏🏽🥺🐐🐐
I was thinking the same thing seconds before seeing your comment.
This is the best thing
GOAT interview. There will never be a duo in the NBA that was as controversial, as dominant, and won as many rings as they did then split when one or both of the players were still in their primes. This was what made this interview so special. Those "what if" moments.
Bet money LeBron and Kyrie have this same sit down one day
juelz004 naw
Always special when you have two 30 point scorers
Kd and Russ except they didn’t have any rings
Yes best duo of all time sorry Jordan and pipen
Seeing these two talk to eachother is just amazing. Shaq and Kobe. The legendary brothers 🙏
Thank God for CZcams. This one on one is heartfelt. Legendary moment and felt like time stood still. Rip Kobe.
That apology was so heart warming it made me tear up. God bless them both. Great people
They never talked about the snitching part.
YES!!!
Okay, that's 1 more than Shaq, congratulations, but in the meantime, Kobe's contract prevented them from picking up four with Lebron lol Always baffled by all that
"what does this Championship mean for you individually"
"That's one more than Shaq"
What a lad

30:54-30:55 when they shook hands laughing and smiling at each other. Best was 38:38 to end of the video. Just wow😊🙌 R.I.P Kobe.
"Ben Wallace guarding me?"-Shaq
"Ah, that's ridiculous."-Kobe
LMAO
Christian Williams actually Ben Wallace is one of the few who could handle shaq
BronzePlum Detroit’s overall defense was the factor, only man alive that could put a body on Shaq was Hakeem
As a longtime lakers fan, goddamn I enjoyed this...
For real! This interview was fucking beautiful haha
