  • Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant sit down with Rachel Nichols of The Jump for an exclusive interview, discussing their relationship throughout their NBA careers, including a trip on a roller coaster, a one-on-one game in Germany between Kobe and T-Mac (2:14), being rookies coming out of high school with the Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors, and how they drifted apart as their careers went on.

Freeman That and his parents didn’t approve of his wife. I think Kobe went through a dark time during that 3-peat. The media and the public talking about him and Shaq, people downplaying Kobe’s contributions to the team, his parents not going to watch any of his games and not appreciating the house he bought them because he had a Latina wife. Then he had the whole rape accusation when he cheated on his wife. All of that is what I think made him the Mamba. He took his anger and frustration out on the court, and pushed his teammates really hard. I’m sure you’ve seen him yell and push teammates in practice. He wasn’t easy to play with, but he’s a winner.

I remember in 09, he was shooting like 50% from the field and he broke his index finger. instead of sitting out, he played through it by literally adjusting his form to shoot with 3 fingers. Also in 2010, he had a bone spur and even had to drain his knee before every game, games that 99% of the other nba players would've missed. That is the part of kobe's legacy that doesnt get told by stats and how even today, no one will acknowledge. That's the difference between Kobe and every other guy he faced like McGrady. "Who wasn't keeping score?". Kobe was always in attack mode.

Lol, but in TMAC defense he was working on the craft more.
Like in Track when we work on our starts we are told to not focus on anyone else and just the technique and form.

It pains me because I can only make the next sentences with the word "IMAGINE"
Imagine how awesome his HOF speech could have been.
Imagine how awesome he would look like with the next 10-20 greatest players of all time.
Imagine the Lakers' 3-peat and back2back 25th anniversary interview with him.
Imagine him giving a speech when his statue in Staples Center was finished.
Imagine him inducting a ton of players in the HOF.
Imagine him bringing his daughters in the altar.
    Imagine him becoming a grandfather.
Imagine him just sitting courtside watching and enjoying the game he poured his heart out become more succesful.
    Love you, Kobe.

His HOF speech would've gone down in folklore and textbooks for sure! Given what an amazing storyteller he is! I mean the dude won an Oscar on his first try out. Like it would've been memorable man. Aspiring kids all over the world would've benefited from it. :'(

This is touching to the core, they seemed to really enjoyed this moment .im sure Tmac will tear up but at the same time feeling elevated whenever he watches this vid. How they enjoyed each other's company, they might as well be biological brothers. Two of the brightest stars in our entire universe.Kobe is like a comet, which passed through our world only once in recorded history but the impact was so profound ,memorable in human chapter. The visitation was brief and too short lived but the impact will last till infinity. Such a poignant interview.Shine on you crazy diamond
