Started at $13 as a laborer about 2 and a half years ago. Been doing everything I can to learn about the trade from paying attention on site to watching hundreds of hours of videos so I could understand everything that was going on at work. Just hit $20/ hour and confident that I'm worth a lot more as long as I keep chugging along. Any advice on ways to start making more money on those would be really appreciated, guys. Even with raises, I feel like this economy is drowning me. I love my job but I need to make more money

Look I started framing 6 years ago making 15 an hr. I work with Amish and and jumped around as I learned more. I started with no knowledge on a crew doing residential homes using trusses. Bracing is extremely important with trusses because in my opinion those Steele plates holding trusses together are garbage. I worked for a stick frame crew a while and they were great! They cost more to hire. I made 18 an hour starting with them. A couple years later I worked with a crew building nursing homes for 19 an hour. I now make 21 an hour and bring home 1000 a week with overtime.

For example, you can have a 3 man crew and the contractor wants the floor floor and walls framed in 5 days with a 3000$ dollar payout for the three of you to split. If you can do the work in shorter time, you can make MUCH more money, however if you're new hourly is better since you'll be slow and not experienced but still make decent money
