I had my bbk for almost 1 yr with no issues running the diablo tune. Installed a custom tune and now my throttle body is garbage. Relearned it and still same issues you have. Went back to the diablo tune and still rev surges and lighting bolt light every now and then. Going back to factory tb !!!!

Yes man. I learned the hard way. 2016 mustang gt and I got the wrench light when in high rpms in the freeway, have to pull over and shut off the car. Going back to stock

I've had the exact issues with the bbk 85mm throttle body I had on my 06 charger r/t as you. Under normal driving conditions or when it's in cruise control. The car would, out of no where beep and a red lightning bolt sign on the dash would turn on, then the car would have absolutely no throttle response even with the accelerator peddle to the floor, but the engine would stay running. The only way I could get it to start back running right is I would have to pull over, turn the car off and restart it and it would run fine until the next time it would, out of no where do it again. I did the relearn process several times but that did not correct the problem. So I ended up returning it for a refund. In my experience the original throttle body was better than the bbk anyway.

5.7L Hemi the crazy part is I hear of people having trouble like us and then some people have no issues what so ever with their BBK DBW throttle bodies... it’s maddening!

I had issues with 2 different types of 85mm BBK. I have one (drive by wire) on a 06 F150 and it worked for 1 week, after that the throttle would stick at 2000 rpm then eventually go into limp mode (only rev to about 1500 rpm). I think I stemmed it back to a vacuum issue on the TPS sensor side. Im not to swift when it comes to saving some money on a build so believe it or not I have 3 BBK throttle bodies. 2 have failed. The only one that works is the one on my 03 mustang 3.8L. It is cable operated and 75mm. The one on my 03 mustang GT just quit. I am constantly setting my idle lower and lower. The issue is the idle randomly sticks at 1600rpm, sometimes if I pop the gas it fixes itself. BBK throttle bodies are no good, stay away. The quality control is all over the place, and in CGNE's video he said that the operation is not smooth he is right. The ECM and or TCM probably think there is something wrong with the throttle motor? I also think that there are many issues with this product so dont bother with it. I hope their underdrive pully kit and cold air intake hold up.........

This is the reason I left my TB alone in my '09 f150.

I recently had the same issue. My new BBK 70mm TB for my V6 Mustang came in and i am going to install it. I found out that part of the install procedure is using a multimeter to find the stock TB motor lash for TPS voltage. Once you have th enew TB installed, reconnect the multimeter and then adjust the brass fitting on the TB to match the motor lash on the new TB to the old TB so your TPS is recieving the same voltage for your new TB. When i tested mine, the stock TB motor lash was giving my TPS a voltage of 1.30v but my new TB motor lash was giving my TPS 1.06v, a mere .24v difference but over 5 or so years of being under volted(not sure if proper verbage), it finally killed my TB. Ill update when i have my new one installed and properly adjusted.

@@carguysnewengland earlier today i swapped the TB and adjusted the lash to meet the stock TB lash. No luck. Still having issues but there are now only DTCs coming up. I am out of ideas and having it towed to a shop on Mon. Will update when i can.

So apparently the electric actuator motor on the right if the TB went bad and hopefully thats all that went bad lol

Joshua Lomax Yo josh so I have a 2007 mustang V6, and I have the 70mm throttle body from bbk. I’m having issues on the dang part, it goes to limp mode(wrench). I did the voltage correctly as the stock throttle had but it just keeps dying on me whenever I do a hard pull around 5000-6000rpm. You think a tuner might help it? Or should I just go back to the factory throttle?

    • @xX-Expendable-Xx

@@kevinsalinas1165 check all wiring to the TB. Check the electric motor oj the right of it. I had to replace mine and it made a big difference.

There was some defects in the 75mm BBK motor control Circuit the easy fix was to take the factory throttle body motor swap out the BBK motor

I had this same problem with my 06 silverado with a 6.0. Installed the 80mm BBK and it would run great until you tried to floor it. It would instantly go into limp mode. (reduced engine power) Any ideas?

  • @sebastienlapointe3820

It's possible that the true source of the issue could be the change in the diameter of the MAF housing maybe its fine with a stock TB but it could be something worth investigating. I wonder if a professional tune would allow for calibration of the Cold Air Intake and the BBK Throttle body...? This upcoming week I'll be doing the 5.4 3v throttle body swap onto my 2005 p71 (i might be wrong but our intake pipe and maf might be bigger than the civilian cars which is why we make 250 instead of 228 @the crank)

    • @sebastienlapointe3820
      @sebastienlapointe3820 Před 3 lety

maybe see if using the factory airbox&tube with the bbk runs without making any check engine lights (along with disconnecting the battery to reset Check Engine Lights).... if it runs as if its normal then when you add your cold air intake into the mixture again that may tell you that all you need is a tune... another thing to check may be intake vacuum.. do our 2005+ cars base their idle upon vac pressure?
      just spit balling here

Yeah this video is a couple years old but anyway, I have a BBK on my cars for probably 3 years now maybe 4 and never had a single problem. Important things to know here is that first, don’t play with the flap open and close it. That’s a big no-no and second, you need to read your voltage output from the original one to adjust the same voltage to ur BBK otherwise you know what happens. If you follow these 2 recommendations and still have problems you just might have a faulty unit.
