He actually played playoff games for the avalanche a few years later and did pretty well lol. He then bounced around the league, playing games for Minnesota’s affiliate in Iowa, he played a couple games for the habs last season (those ones were my favourite), and he finished his career with New Jersey this past season after announcing his retirement.
      His career stats:

Turgeon certainly should've been on Canada's 96 World Cup Team and probably the 98 Olympic team but around that time the architects of Team Canada were obsessed with gritty players and left off quite a few highly skilled guys, Turgeon being one.

Pierre Turgeon right up there with Alexander Mogilny when it comes to glaring H.O.F omissions.. It makes zero sense aside from personal pettiness from members of the voting committee.
I was done with the H.O.F after they callously waited until Pat Burns passed away before inducting him. They had several opportunities to do so while he was still alive.
Hopefully Pierre & Alex get their moment some day soon.

He was sexually abused when he was a teenager. He was never supposed to make it besides all of that heaped on him and was "too small" for the NHL to begin with. Yet, he's in the top seventy all-time in points and may be pound for pound and inch for inch one of the best players all-time. His NHL record of three short handed goals and his plus nine game never get talked about either. The last four years of his career or so were about as bizarre as it gets too.

Gretzky, Lemeiux, Sakic, Neiwendyke, Lindros, Messier, Francis, Linden, and Hawerchuck were the choices for team Canada at center. Who do you bump to put Turgeon in? A big reason there was less goals and “better goalies” back then was more to do with how defensive the game was back then compared to now! It’s not like goalies are worse now, they are actually better but it’ll be hard to beat old goalie achievements in todays high scoring high offence game!

I was never much of a fan of Pierre Turgeon. In fact, I thought he was kind of a little too soft. But for Hockey Canada to ban him from international competition just because he didn't get involved in that massive scrap between the Russians and Team Canada in the WJC's in '87 is just flat out stupid on their part. And if that's what's also keeping him out of the HHOF? Well, that makes it even more stupid. Like I said, not much of a fan of his. But he was a very good player, and should indeed been elected to the Hall already.

Y'know... I wondered sometimes why it seemed like Turgeon wasn't often considered amongst some of the best of his era. Granted I was born in 90 so I wasn't super aware of his entire career, esp not early (didn't get great TV reception in mom's womb, nor my dad's nutsack) he was always an absolute stud on some already pretty good Blues teams in my early hockey watching days.
I suppose the int'l stuff has something to do with it!

I remember trying to explain to some dumb Islander fans that the World Junior fight and Turgeon's non-participation in it was the reason he wasn't in the Hockey Hall-of-Fame, and they said it was stupid and started yelling at me like it was my fault! I had nothing to do with it. He don't belong there anyway, but that fight is one reason he's not there.
