- Hey guys! I am continuing to add content to get you out rucking and into more GORUCK events. This video focuses on the "Tough" and "Basic" events (previously called "Light" events). Most of this also applies to "Heavy" events but there's a little more to that so we'll focus on that some other time. Here I'll outline gear recommendations for the events plus give you several PRO TIPS. If you have more pro tips or something you like to take for an event, leave me a comment. Later, in a future video, I'll talk about training and game-day tips. Thanks for watching!

This is great! Exactly what I have been looking for. Can't wait for the execution videos next. This is some of the best content out there.
Awesome, thank you Jason!
Yes I’m a big fan of Aquaphor! Great video JB
Haha! Yes!
Appreciate the details. Took notes
Awesome Michael! Let me know if you have any questions
Thanks JB!
😎
You are best!! THANK YOU!!
You're welcome!
Great tips! These events are bleeping seriously grueling, one day I’ll be there!
👊🏻
I like the multiple water bottle ideas!
2 is 1. 1 is none.
@@JBOutside1 but 3….& 4 & in different styles is sweet.
SERE was the best Heavy course I could have ever done. Complete with cold, starvation, and some nice wholesome beatings.
💪🏻
Great video! What event would you suggest for an out of shape couch potato with a cool Rucker? 😉🤣
Seriously 😃💪🏻
Hmmm, probably a StarCourse and then a Basic event. 😎
Thank you for the video! Trained and ready for my 1st ruck soon!
Question: does anyone ever bring their dogs (basic)?
No. Don’t bring dogs to an official event. For a training ruck, then absolutely!
Interesting video!
I carry less backup water stuff on 2 week in the wild xd
I can see that. We’re so rough on our stuff during an event that it’s nice to have a backup. And then there’s the fact that most of this is convenience
@@JBOutside1 I'm using a CPL 24 with sandplates from 5.11 but the bag presses in my lower back and if I find a comfortable position, I notice I lean forward more.
Which Rucker would you advise as a replacement bag for rucking around with some weight?
Bullet (which I don't find with plate pockets on the site), 4.0 20 or 25 or even a long range?
@@DaemonViews a Rucker is really the best way if you want a dedicated rucking bag. Buy once kinda philosophy. Size depends on your torso height and overall height (sort of). I’m 5’9” and the 20L fits best.
@@DaemonViews the bullet Rucker is nice but I haven’t seen a restock of that since it was first released
@@JBOutside1 thanks for the advice! I'm the same height so it's likely similar.
Only gripe I have with that bag is the lack of pockets.
I would carry it on dog walks and it would be so much nicer not having to fish for my flashlight, poo bags etc.
Great video JB, you mentioned travelling on an airplane. Do you normally take your plate or have you found a way to rent one locally from a gym or other
The times I’ve traveled I was able to borrow a plate from a local Ruck Club. You can always check a bag with the plate. TSA experiences vary when going through security and carryons.
thx for the video! did you get your hands on the new 10L or 15L bullet rucker?
I don’t have one currently. I’m hoping to though! What do you think about the design?
@@JBOutside1 I like the back padding change and don't mind the front zipper gone but I'm not sure how I feel about the pockets inside being velcro....
@@714SNF Yep. IMHO, the Bullet RUCK does everything you need in that size. If you want to carry a plate securely get a RUCKER. The Bullet WILL carry a plate for casual rucking plus you get all the pockets. The interior velcro pockets are 😝
Thanks JB I really apreciate your content. I'm having a hard time trying to decide what size rucker to buy for training and future events. I'm almost 6'3" about 205lb. What would you recommend? I have the 33 litter long range in coyote that I want to keep in nice condition. Thanks
William, 25L for sure. I have both sizes and at 5'9" I think I am sort of in between. I use the 20L for events and train with the 25L because of the better pocket options. I'd go 25L.
@@JBOutside1 sounds good, I really appreciate it! Keep up the great work.
@@JBOutside1 one more question. Is there much of a difference between rucking in the 33L vs the 25L? I just received my 33L about a week ago and still within the exchange period.. Ide just like to know your thoughts on that.? I apreciate it..
@@williamcool4910 they will both be the same height so they’ll fit the same on you’re back. You have the extra space and zippers in the 33L. The 25L won’t have a front pocket and it’ll be Velcro inside. Tough choice
@@JBOutside1 thanks again. I'll prob keep the 33L and buy a 25L down the line when I'm ready to start my first event.
What footwear would you recommend for a tough? I have jedburgs and Macv1s but feel like a running show would be better? Thoughts ?
I often use some trail running shoes. I’ve used Brooks Cascadias and Hoka Challengers. Work great and lots more cushion for the miles.
Is rucking ok if you have had problems with your back?
Well I would certainly consult your doctor as adding weight to your shoulders could aggravate whatever was causing you problems. If those issues are resolved however I suppose it's possible. Would start REALLY light and monitor your back though.
Where's that followup execution video?? 😅
🤔
@@JBOutside1 At 1:42 you say you're going to make a follow up video about gameday execution. Not the other kind of execution...
@@rosswygmans3640 haha, that one hasn’t been done yet. But it’s still on the list!
