    Great video. My first official Star Course was over in Huntsville - Rocket City Ruckers took me in and let me hang with them. We also came in second that year. Lots of virtuals too for practice. Great job on the Atlanta Course. Wish I could’ve been there. I agree with your tips - esp. running shoes! Yes, I’m a fellow Hoka fan and wear Darn Tough socks. One thing I do is coat my feet in Aquaphor. Never get blisters even when feet are wet. You have your tunes and as you know I carry a ham radio. Thanks for sharing JB

    Good episode...I completed the first 50 Star Course in Washington, DC. It was pretty brutal. It rained for about 10 hours and we were required to have a 30lb plate then. I think they have lowered it to 20lb now. It was my present for my 57th birthday. You gave some great advice. I used the regular GR1.

      NICE! And Happy Birthday! That DC course is notoriously rainy! Great job!

    Thanks for the video. That gear section was helpful. I would like to get involved with more GoRuck events this year.

    Great video. I'm a super beginner to Rucking. Can you do a video or series of video for the beginners. What's the best gear for beginners?, How far you should go on your first training ruck and official ruck event? What's some of the training exercises you should do as a beginner? and more....Thanks

      I’m actually planning a series just like that. I already did a 101 to get started and I have a packing video coming out next week. More planned in the future!

    Excellent video! Very informative. I'm a special educator in IL and your calm demeanor in explaining items makes it much easier for the viewer to comprehend your explanations. In the future, would you consider doing something like this for a Basic and/or a Heavy? Maybe make a series of three episodes out of it? 1. Overview of event and some training guides. 2. Gear 3. Execution. Just a thought. Great videos and hope to see your subs dramatically increase in the near future.

    best trail shoes that have multi type on the same design size fit as in sneaker and mid-boot so if the fit is right you can get both and use as the terrain demands, is Addidas Terrrex swift also has goretex options

    I know this is a bit old but I am looking at the DC 50 in May 2024. I’m looking for a training plan! I know you mentioned doing a video but wasn’t sure if you have yet

      Sorry I never got around to the specific training plan. Miles, miles, and more miles!

  • @concealmenttraining9371

    I reckon your shoulders get use to the weight from conditioning?

    • @JBOutside1
      @JBOutside1  Před 2 lety +2

      Absolutely. That's while miles matter. I have a Rucking 101 video that gets you from zero to beyond.

    Confused on why you use 2 smart watches, can’t the Apple Watch track your workout and give directions at the same time? Regardless, Thanks for this, very informative 👍

      Some of the reason: because I can 😜. But in reality, the AW has a big limitation when it comes to being used for fitness: the battery. When I did the 50 miler I had to charge the AW halfway through and then it still died during the event. If I had been using the GPS this last week there’s no way it would have lasted. My GARMIN Epix video explains more.
