Some misinformation in this one.
Redfall is worse on pc, digital foundry said it shouldn't be sold at all.
And another statement was Netflix being in the green. It hasn't been for years, they have an incredibly large debt. They keep taking out astronomical size loans.
Phil statement was just that they weren't gonna to win the gen. His language may have been messy but he was basically stating that exclusives weren't going to get them in 1st place this gen,which is clearly true. It will boost their business no doubt but he's right. I didn't drop my ps5 so I could get a series x, I just bought both because of starfield coming out.
On Jedi Survivor, I was getting 35 frames, 1440p, high graphics, on my Ryzen 7 32gb RAM and 4070ti. As soon as I turned of vsync I got up to 60 frames constantly. When I finished the main story line I jumped up to 125 frames. It's a great game, it's awesome! Wait till it's ironed out tho
yeah i'm clearly having a different experience to others. I'm on the PS5 and playing set on best graphics version (not perfromance) and sure a handful of times i noticed the frame rate drop a little, but most of the time I was fine. That said people who get upset about these things are always looking for it and are more likely to be annoyed about it and more likely to spend more time looking for these issues and worrying about it. I care if it greatly affects me playing the game, which it never did and I've now pgot the platinum trophy for it.
@JustinWatson23 I mean, tbf a good amount of PC J:S players have encountered similar, if not identical glitches and massive performance issues in the same locations. I read 3 separate reviews reporting a massive loss of progress after a crash during a certain boss fight. So idk that it's just the ones looking for it. It's not too hard to find at this point unfortunately.
@@argentum909 Sure, the game crashes though i have no issue with people complaining about those. I think it crashed once on the PS5 for me, but thankfully i don't think i lost much as i was just exploring and looking for items. But there is a whole subgroup of gamers addicted to having everything run seemlessly as 60FPS and 1440p or better and will complain a game is not playabl;e if it doersn't run at those specs which just isn't realistic or true. Its partly why i gave up PC gaming, I want an enjoyable playable game which on the PS5 Jedi Survivor was.
The last midnight launch I went to was for the GameCube. Still remember the hype and confused drunk peeps leaving bars in the city and wondering why there was a queue outside EB.

Hey guys, I was the crazy dude who was on the zelda line for over a week. Understandably some people think launch culture is stupid however as far as Nintendo NY it has become almost part of the brand for the store.
I would love to be able to talk about the experience with everything from the passes to what the managers tried to do with us. Hopefully you guys see this.

Kotaku was blacklisted by nintendo because of directly naming switch emulators for metroid dread, linking, and specifically talking about tips for pirating roms in the original metroid article. It has been edited multiple times by after Nintendo threatened legal issues and is now less obvious about it, although still fairly implied.

Nintendo, just back off. Less people pirate your stuff than you think. I do agree, TotK is NINTENDO'S PROPERTY and they have every right to strike down any leak before the release date. If that copy was downloaded from a leaked source, legal action is well within their right. If the 'leaker' got a early copy legitimately through an authorized retailer that shipped it early, then take it up with the retailer. Unless you put a label on the box stating that the game cannot be shared until release day, anyone who gets a legit early copy should be able to stream it as soon as they get it.
This whole conversation makes me sick. Nintendo is a menace to the gaming community

Taking a look at the PC performance of recent releases, I'd argue that the PS5 and Xbox series consols are performing great and are certainly not the problem. Mostly it comes down to shader compilation stutter, which is impacting framerate in all games. This is more on the side of the game development engines rather than hardware as we still have not seen too many new engines and tools to take advantage of new hardware. I fully expect that we will see the perfomance issues of AAA releases improve in a major way going into the second half of the generation, expecially with 3rd party developers moving away from the currently broken and buggy Unreal Engine 4 onto Unreal Engine 5, which seems to have a better solution to shader compilation. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken, but this is currently what I understand to be the main issue.
36:35 There's a lot in the Moon Channel video that I felt like he left out. There's an amazing article by the Digital Law Journal that shows a different side to the arguement Moon Channel paints. The entire issue is very cloudy and there have been court cases that have went both ways. The article is called "Video game modding in the U.S. intellectual property law: Controversial issues and gaps" I feel like MoonChannel was trying to scare people with the worse-case scenario because depending on the judge people can absolutely get screwed, but as the article shows there are modders who have been sued by companies and won their cases.

Disagree with wood's stance on the Xbox debate, the only thing they have is the Game Pass they don't have any quality working games rn and depend almost solely on games and gamepass being the main source of profit. Also saying the PS5 library being same-y??? I mean they need more variety in 1st party but almost none of them that I've played look or feel the same unlike the other 2 consoles. I love the switch i still consider it my main console, but I think Wood just has too much hope to see Xbox turn it all around in the console race when microsoft have relegated it pretty much as a remote side piece to their game service.

You could argue that Kotaku reporting on the leaks and information therewithin is their duty as Journalists and not doing so would be a lack of journalistic integrety to get information out there that people want to hear that people in charge don't want you to share. Many journalists in many different fields do this to make sure that the truth and all information gets out there. Or at least journalists worth a damn. As for Kotaku being blacklisted, they were long ago for something stupid and inoccuous and are lamenting that doing their job as a journalist has caused them to miss out on other journalistic opportunities involving Nintendo. They won't ever be removed from the blacklist, so it's not like it matters if they "keep doing what got them blacklisted in the first place".
Again, a journalists job shouldn't be to lick the boots of corporations or politicians or whoever. It should be to report the news, the truth, and all the information. And in many cases, consequences be damned. And for people annoyed about them spreading spoilers, just don't read the article! I sure haven't and still won't be reading it anytime! But it is important to truly understand what it means to be a journalist and too many journalists, especially in games journalism, don't know what that means anymore or never knew what it meant.
Right! Their whining about Kotaku really rubbed me the wrong way. Kotaku is doing what any good journalistic websites should be doing. Reporting on news within their sphere. The fact that they are blacklisted for that is an indictment on the power of corporations, not Kotaku.

I think these two have a thumbnail size insight into the topic of modding.
It's a major selling point for many AAA games that they are compatible with mods. This isn't an issue for "Game Mod Law" in America. This is how Nintendo, a company who has a vested interest in the way their customers consume their content, using the law to their advantage.
Bethesda isn't going to be sending out DMCAs anytime soon for people modding Skyrim, and I feel like it would cause damages for many companies if there were all kinds of laws around modding.
Please educate yourselves fully on these topics rather than giving your opinions when it comes to legality.
Yeah, no one likes uneducated opinions. They are rather irritating and irrisponsible for people of influence/who hold a platform to do _(in the same way they think it's irresponsible for kotuku to talk about emulation pirating)._
If I could explain to Wood, I would tell him that every video containing content from one of Nintendo's video games, are only allowed to be on the internet so long as Nintendo likes it. If Nintendo doesn't like it then they have already reserved the right to strike it down. They basically said it's not allowed but they can make exceptions, and then at any time they can decide to no longer allow those videos that they have made exceptions for.

I think the performance issues is dev and software based not due to the consoles. God of war/Spider Man M.M. Last of us remaster all ran splendidly. It’s 3rd party devs that seems to be botching it on the PS. The Xbox side of things is harder to defend since Redfall is a first party game. But Jedi proves throwing more horsepower at it ain’t really the solution, it’s just poorly optimized

License agreement on this case prevents the development of mods of their intelectual property. The only way the mods are completely legal is if the owner of the intellectual property permits mods. Like Paradox Interactive. Specially with multiplayer mods.

End user agreements are legal because Nintendo has more money that you do.
The fact that Wulf is STILL out here spouting flat out falsehoods about how you "own the games" shows that he didn't retain the important parts from the moon channel topic but rather just unintentionally cherry picked/tunnel visioned on the points that have an impact on his argument. A large part of this topic is you don't buy the software, you buy the license to USE the software under set conditions. By legal terms, that means it's not your property, instead it is nintendo's property that they are leasing out to you essentially. That is the big cavoite in all this that makes this all so very annoying (both from a game enthusiasts perspective, a legal perspective, a spectator of this show's perspective and just the general objective perspective, also downright irritating on the subjective perspective as well).
This is not me talking of "morality", this is me talking in case of "legality". "Right to repair" doesn't even remotely apply here as it's technically not your property to "repair" or mess with. This is the problem with modern day digital goods. There's no law saying companies have to allow ownership of the product. If you don't like the fact that you don't legally own your digital goods, then make a movement about it to get people to contact their local lawmakers about it, because at that point, it's a political topic where the law itself is what needs changing.
Phil Spencer is not wrong. He realized the console wars is over and Microsoft is headed towards the direction they were always good at, software. So they are focusing all their might on gamepass and creating the Netflix model of video games. They care about selling software which is why their games are always (for now atleast) on other consoles.
At this point, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft and no longer directly competing on the same market. Steam is the one nobody was watching out for. Success of steam deck allowed steam to now have a platform and kinda jump into the race along with the big boys.

My mind was changed on the weapon break situation when a friend was telling me that it is a game design technique that gives urgency to and use for all of the different types of weapons and makes you have to have an inner monologue on having to decide what gear to use and keep. It also allows the game designer to put weapons in chests and make it seem like all of your hard work was for something rather than junk you'll just throw away because you got a mastersword that never breaks. I think its pretty good inventory management style gameplay.
I agree I really like the weapon durability. I wad actually so glad when they showed a weapon breaking in the demo lol
