1:54 - How its worked out so far
2:47 - Hi Res Photo Editing
5:34 - Video Editing Tests
8:26 - Can it handle 8K Raw Video?
14:17 - Final Thoughts
Man I just bought one I received it yesterday, you made me more hype for it now 🙌 can’t wait to install and get editing!
Congrats! Like I mentioned in this video, it's been great!
Same here, I use many layers of grading, and even on a 4K timeline it runs quite smoothly, but it starts slowing down when I load up with 4K BRAW clips effects, transitions, vignettes, DCTL's, Plugins like Look Designer 2, and use Opti Flow to slow down clips down to 15% sometimes, image stabilizers, then at that point I have to downsize to a 1080P timeline resolution, and set it to Half, then everything is back to running smoothly. But, that's if i don't cache my clips. If I do I can run my timeline at Full playback. What's so interesting too is that while it's exporting I can effortlessly run 3 8k youtube videos, no problem. I can do all of this with just 16GB of ram and a 500GB internal ssd. Exports run quite well too. I'm always amazed that I can go for a quick walk and a 1 hour video loaded with all of this will be done by when I come back.
This is great! This is what i want to see. Not 20 minutes of benchmark tests like most CZcamsrs.
Appreciate it greatly, thanks for the feedback!
My word only took me 2.5 hours just to find this perfect explanation and break down thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Nice man! I bought the same thing last September but upgraded the ram to 32gb which really helps when working with fusion comps and fusion based plugins. It was a huge difference from my M1 Mac mini in regards to video editing.
Nice! That’s probably the only upgrade I wish I did but rarely have had a time where I needed more for what I do. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo Yeah, Davinci just eats ram. I've been adding motion tracked titles and graphics to my RE videos so I needed the extra ram. Your RE videos are already top tier as is. Keep up the awesome work man!
I was thinking of getting this as well, but on the fence with the RAM upgrade. Do you think it's worth while upgrading the RAM or just overkill? Appreciate the feedback.
I would if you’re hesitant about it !
@@AndreiRestrepoappreciate the feedback.
Andrei yas photo guys with some video then dump subscription picture and works with your video daws called Pixelmator Pro because it can color videos just like a picture coloring!
I was looking for the Mac Mini M2 Pro 1 year update from other youtubers and your video came up first. lol. I'm in the creative industries as well and looking for an upgrade from my old M1 Macbook Air.
Haha sweet! Can honestly say the m2 pro has been great!
I do a lot of heavier tasks (than photography) using a lot of compositing in my 4k Braw (Blackmagic Design codec) videos. I've also done some tests using Red Raw (Komodo) footage in 8K, using noise reduction (which is a cpu hog) and a lot of heavy plugins in Davinci's color page, and wow, I still remain impressed. I got my computer in January.
Conclusion, this little machine is nothing short of amazing. It can definitely slow down on certain operations, like using Topaz AI for upscaling videos from HD to 4k and even 8k. But while even doing such an intensive job, I can still run 4 streams simultaneously on youtube of 4K video in 60FPS, and an extra stream of 8k on youtube running normally. This is all while I'm either upscaling in Topaz or exporting a video in D. Resolve. And this little guy at that point will warm up, and that's the only time I hear a fan come on. Mind you I'm only using the baseline M2 Pro model with 10 /16 CPU/GPU, 512 GB SSD.
A few points to clarify, Davinci Resolve has crashed on several occasions, the instant cache process has sometimes slowed down the timeline, making it seem as if the M2 Pro were lagging, but that wasn't the case and because I use very dense effects without going into Fusion tab in Resolve yet, all in the edit page still, and I use a lot of grading nodes with external plugins (Look Designer 2) I do need to lower the timeline resolution to 1080P to work comfortably. But despite the crashes, and having to adjust how Davinci accesses the media in real time, with the least amount of lag, my baseline M2 Pro with only 16 GB of ram handles everything like a charm.
im working with the Blackmagic 6k to make sure, im good with my video projects, im going for this computer but will upgrade to 32 ram that way I know I can edit 6k for sure thank you for your video
Nice! Yes, I think that’s the smart move. 👌🏻
Should I Choose m2 24gb or M2pro 16Gb for 6K video Editing? I likely to use Pr and Davincii
I'll edit the 6k video like you did at 6:23 secs Maybe just 10 minute or more than 1hour XD
I'd still say the pro processor! But maybe 32gb m2pro to be safe. Thanks from watching!
hallo! what about 16ram, is it enough for using only fcpx or premiere?
I think so, that's all I have an it's been fine. If you do heavy editing or other work, maybe bump up to 32 to be safe
So with the 8k file were you using 16g ram on your computer
Yup, haven't shot any 8K stuff since then but definitely able to run it. Thanks for watching !
When did you go to Vail ??
Haven't! just get shirts from mother in law's cool trips haha
@@AndreiRestrepo haha aw man! It's pretty epic. Need to get you into snowboarding :)
This little machine is really great - I did a test with hi-res MRI pics (bigger then 8K RAW) and it works fine - a windows machine has toruble and the small M1, too - Ok for fairness - this kind of images are generaly process on a special kind of machine (PACS machines) like high-performence server - so that is impressive what this little machine can.
Ok single user and no multiuser access like in an hospital - may then this Mac Mini died^^.
Have you tried it on After Effects?
I haven’t since I don’t use it. 😕
migrate to DaVinci, everything will be even faster.
I’ve tried! Just so used to premiere and since most of my stuff is pretty simple it’s worked out great for me. Would like to eventually though!
