Love my R6 MK II! Sold my 5d mk iv and will never look back.I have so much more confidence shooting with this camera compared to my previous camera. It's a game changer.
It's definitely a big upgrade! AF features and video compared to the 5d4 are crazy upgraded. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I appreciate the in depth explanations on how you use each feature and why the upgrades on the mark ii matter. I was wondering what mic you use for the talking head interview. Is it a lav mic?
Thanks so much! I used the same overhead mic I use for my YT videos, just booming the rode video mic pro plus, and the DJI mic as a back up.
Hey man, thanks for great review.
I would wait for R5 II
Thanks so much! While I bet you’re right, I’ve actually already invested in the R6 mark 2, just because it’s a limitation from the first version that I hit on a almost daily basis because I shoot so much real estate. And honestly the higher megapixel count that they R5, or even the next version would offer, isn’t even some thing I would fully use being that I mostly shoot real estate in my business now. Unless they release something epic video wise, I’ll definitely be interested! Thanks for watching
Hi again
Actually, that’s the camera I’m going to get, because I want start real estate photography
Any tips
There’s a bunch of videos on that topic on my channel that you could go through and get a decent understanding I think. I also started a membership program on my website to help people more! Here’s the site if you’d like to check it out: andreirestrepo.com/
Great video like always. Tomorrow I will have my first shoot with the r6 ii + RF 15-35mm. I am so excited. What aperture do you shoot at for Real Estate using the RF 15-35mm lens? Cheers! :)
That’s awesome! Same setup I’m using 🤙🏻 f/8 for all the wide shots, and 2.8 for details or shallower on my 50mm prime. Thanks for watching!
I see your somewhere near Galveston Texas. I recognize that real estate agent. I just bought a R6 ii coming from an EOS R from Best Buy in Webster. Still waiting on it since it’s on back order
Yeah I got lucky buying mine preowned from mpb. I’m actually in Katy/Richmond TX! Galveston is about 1.5 hrs away though
Great vid ty
Thanks for watching! Love the camera
Good video!
I have both R6 and R6 Mk II. Besides the main differences in video, there are lots of small things that makes the Mk II much better.
Do you use manual focus for RE video or tried servo?
Thanks so much! I typically use manual focus for all the wide shots and then AF for zoomed in details. Thanks for watching!
what about photo does it worth the upgrade just for taking pictures
Canon I believe rolled out the R6 & R5 too soon in my opinion and I agree the II for the R6 is what it should of been at first. But this technology is always improving and it gets better all of the time.
My R6II at 4k 60 lasted 22 minutes gave me an overheating warning and I turned it off in the morning and in the afternoon gave me an overheating warning after 14 minutes. I live in San Antonio area and it is hot now. Indoors no problem. I believe the Line Skip is in most modes. I was shocked about the A+ mode and was impressed. But am liking the camera but have only had it a week. You have explained more than most other content creators. Cheers!
Hey! Wow, that's surprising because I haven't experienced any OHing on it whatsoever. I've shot with it for about 2 months or so and shooting in 4k60 for a hours outside, obviously not one long clip but starting and stopping small 4k60 clips for shoots. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo Were you in the shade? I tests cameras to the extreme. I mount the camera that I am testing on the dashboard of my car and go for a drive. If it lasts for an hour that is great. I love that is doesn't have the 30 minute record time limit and I am loving the picture quality also. But I do notice some line skipping modes or 1080P action in HD only in video and realize that is how Canon keeps the camera from overheating. Part 1
@@AndreiRestrepo I will say that when the warning comes on I turn off the recording without turning the camera off and then press the record button I can record for another long time. Try 4k 60 in A+ Mode and then check your footage with the Manual mode and compare. Also the FV Mode is totally different from other Canon cameras because they do not give you any options except the Exposure Compensation. Cheers!
First off thanks for the review! For context I’m looking to upgrade to full frame from the M50 mkii. I’ve probably watched 6 hours of various R vs R6, R6 vs R6 mkii, etc.. videos today and they’ve all focused on “why to/not to upgrade from the R6. Would you suggest the R6 mkii over the R or do you think the extra $1k is worth it? Also I’ve read a lot about the janky hot show mount on the R6. Did Canon fix that? That’s all 🫡
Thanks so much! Yes, definitely think the R6 or II is worth investing over the R, if you do video. Photo-wise, the R still has more MP's so I'd look at that camera then, preowned even. But if you do video, huge difference between the R and R6's. If you do a lot of video like me, R6 ii would be the move IMO now using it for awhile! Didn't notice anything on the hotshot mount on my end, but all I would use on it a small good trigger. Thanks for watching!
Great Content: If you purchase a camera today, would you recommend the sony fx3 or the canon r6 mark ii for doc/vlog content or any other suggestions? I also like to take pictures on occasion. Thanks, great content
Thanks so much! Honestly tough, are you invested in either system? R6 mark ii would be if you do a good amount of both 50/50. Mostly video or just video, FX3 would be my choice. But I’m also like 7 lenses deep in the canon ecosystem so switching would be tough for me. Thanks for watching!
You still can’t decide? Lmao rent the cameras.
I have the r6 as well but I feel am gonna wait for the r5 mrk ii, I feel that will be a worthy upgrade if canon doesn't disappoint.
That definitely will be! I have the r5c now also and it’s a pretty great a cam. Curious to see what they’ll do with the r5 ii, thanks for watching!
Whatt I thought you bought a used one already?? Footage looks great! Will probably upgrade my EOSR to one at some point.
I did! Filmed this like over 2 weeks ago haha yep, now that would definitely make sense coming from the R
@@AndreiRestrepo haha the end threw me off! Still love the R for photos though. Some day :) Or R5C
great video.Quick question.R6 2 yrs old.R5 - 4 yrs old...Need to make a decision.Mostly do stills, photojournalism,weddings,events...or the R5 ? Your thoughts.Also R6 had better or new AF technology?Thanks
Hmm, I’d say R5 if you mostly just do photography. The 45mp photos are great and through firmware updates it’s been kept up to date! I think the R6 ii has a slightly updated AF system by recognizing vehicles, and other types of subjects. Not anything that makes that camera better though. Still, if you want to save a bit the R6ii 24mp stills look amazing as well, and both have a great video system if you ever get into that too. Another thing to note is the r5ii should be getting announced soon, might lower the price of the r5 as well. I also shop for preowned gear at mpb.com, would be worth checking out too!
Great video… question… when you hit record in video mode, does the vertical/horizontal electronic levels as well as the histogram disappear ?
Thanks! Yes they do, it’s a bummer. Just the info to setup the shot. You have a few extra features while filming you can adjust I think like audio levels and maybe something else.
@@AndreiRestrepo but why doh? This when you need them the most lol… canon oh canon🤦🏻♂️
Honestly, again probably because it’s not a cinema camera
@@AndreiRestrepo idk man…. Sony Panasonic Leica … hybrid cameras… not “cinema “….. they do t do this crap at all…. Sooo stupid
No I totally agree, should be able to be done on these !
I sent the R6ii back after a couple weeks. Didn't do anything better than the first R6 other than slightly better video and most of that is no recording time limit. AF was essentially the same.
Do you do mostly photo or video? Did you ever hit the limitations I talked about? Thanks for sharing
@@AndreiRestrepo Photo which is why the R6ii was not an upgrade. Absolutely no difference in af and image quality
Yo andrei,
How is the ibis with the r6ii? heard some wobble issues
I think it's better than the previous model, also depends on which lens you use. Check out the previous video I did vlogging with it at 15mm and I think it looks great! czcams.com/video/wj7P9kpU3ec/video.html
Question: I have heard that 3rd party lenses will not work on the R6M2.......so my question is will I not be able to use my Sigma EF fisheye using the adapter? Any help would be appreciated.
Not true, of course third party/EF lenses work with the adapter! I have all the regular sigma primes and they work great with the R6ii. 🤙🏻
3rd party lenses work perfectly - just as good as native RF lenses in my experience.
Any EF mount lens will work with using the adapter. With some older lenses you won't be able to shoot at 40fps though. For eg the 70-200 f/2.8 is won't, but the mk ii lens will. I'm using "adapted" 10--400 ii and 70-200 ii with mine and they work as if native.
Heyy i have changed my mind from getting R5C to R6Mark ii because of my gimbal RS2 compatibility plus the weight with the 15-35 lens and ef adapter. what card and size will you suggest i want to get into interior video and photo. earlier i was also going for R5C because i also do product and portrait apart from good lighting understanding in needed that megapixel to crop in earlier i was using 5d markiii. i am a beginner at videography will handling R5C will be too much
Hey! Yeah, I think R5C is overkill for that. Personally haven’t used it but super interested! R6 mark ii would be plenty. I use a Lexar silver pro as card, 512gb. Works great and tons of storage. Here it is if you’re interested! amzn.to/400jgky
@@AndreiRestrepo thanks
How do you assign false color to a custom button? Because I see everything but false color on the customizer
Make sure you're on the video side for button customization. I see it right in the middle, it's a circle icon with a little sun over it. You can assign it to a custom button, but only use it if you have the LUT preview off, which is the annoying thing. And that I haven't found a way to add to a custom button. Thanks for watching!
@@AndreiRestrepo man thank you so much! I didn’t realize the first column is strictly for photos and the second column is for video! Lol 😂
Can anyone explain why the R5, R6 don’t have clog 2. Is it a hardware limitation? As an R5 user, which you can quickly switch to video from photo, with the click of a button (easy menu setup), I wish I could have clog 2. Even with the Atomos ninja v+, the supposed clog 2 you’re able to get, really isn’t that great. Not to mention the limitations you get when filming externally using cinema gamut. Does a weird color shift thing. Which forces me to uses BT2020. Not ideal.
Hey man! I know, it’s really frustrating. I think they just keep it proprietary to the cinema line, which is crazy that even the R5C doesn’t even have clog2 unless you do the 8k raw. No idea, would be awesome if they gave it to us on a firmware update like they did give Clog3 to the R6 because it originally when it first came out only had clog. Thanks for watching!
And that’s also a major bummer on the atomos, I would’ve already invested in one if that cinema gamet thing wasn’t an issue.
@@AndreiRestrepo yeah man. it's lame and unfortunate. I almost switched to Sony. They seem to get it. SLOG3 across all their cameras. smh
@@MikeEdwardsphotography Yeah, but Sony cripples in other areas. There is no perfect system.
The no recording time limit on the R6ii is a game changer, a firmware update on the R6 could change that, Canon are you listening? I use the R6 and still my go to is the 5D IV. I have not had a problem with my R6 overheating, so the time limit kills me, but that is the same on my 5D IV so I kinda got used to it. Regarding the photo switching to video mode on the R6 is as easy as hitting the top red recording button, it just uses the last recording setting I had programed it as, am I missing something? Mega pixels are over rated, the R6 sensor is from their flagship 1DX iii, phenomenal sensor, did you find the new 24mp to be as sharp?
I wish they had fixed it! Definitely found myself recording over 30min now. Yes you can hit record in photo mode, but you can’t shoot in the settings I do like the clog3 profiles, and all the customization you get in video mode, so that’s no use to me. I find them being just as good as the R6, but they look a little nicer when cropping in, like for certain aspect ratios and such. Thanks for watching!
Hey Andrei,
Just wanted to note I have both the R5 and R6MKII. Something that I think you may have gotten wrong on the R5. Switching from photo and video you don't have to use the dial as you said in the video. there is a button near the trigger (mine is set on the M-Fn) that will instantly switch from photo to video and back. Just a heads up :) I almost never touch the dial unless I am changing custom modes that I have set up. It is actually one of the reasons I LOVE the R5 more than the R6MKII which is still a great camera. Anyway love your vides. Thanks!
Thanks for the note!! While I don’t own one, my friends that do I guess haven’t figured out you can do that. Pretty awesome! Thanks for watching too :)
So you are saying that R6 never overheated? Correct?
The R6 mark I did sometimes, and always came close to. But the mark ii never has even said it might start OHing soon, even filming for long shoots. Other people have told me it OH’s on 4k60 filming for a long continuous clip for like over 40 min, but idk who would actually ever need that, doesn’t ever OH in 4k24 or 30 for long clips. Thanks for watching!
so do you think i should buy it?
Да,должен😊
I did 😆 and happy with the decision! If you aren’t hitting any limitations with the current r6, then no!
@@AndreiRestrepo buddy i do work with 90D i have a few limitacions.
Would definitely be a nice upgrade imo!
16:00 wow, what's with all the noise?
The overhead pool shot? It was too dark for my drone, so it was super noisy
@@AndreiRestrepo Oh, so that wasn't shot with the Mark II?
No, that overhead shot at the time marker was my drone !
@@AndreiRestrepo Kinda confusing including that in an R6 ii video!, lol, thanks.
have this in my basket to buy now only thing im worried abouit is ipb used to recording in ALL I how much of a pain is it and qualith and when it comes to editing . using premier pro
To be honest, literally can’t see a difference whatsoever. What are you currently shooting on? I don’t really think it’s something you’ll even notice. Thanks for watching!
Hi thanke for the reply Im the type of guy that can make wonders with limited equipment and continue to do so but really need to update. Currently using a canon 6d with l lenses which i know ill need converters going on to a camera. To be honest i only got 1080 video on my camera so would be a big jump. Pc is quite high end so thats what i was worried about using ipb people saying its harder to edit with etc but also what the quality looks like. Torn between r5 and r6mark 2. Photography is probably the biggest usages for me but know the new tech is way better than what i got so cant go wrong with any camera in the past 2 years, For video tough constant auto focus is key i film properties so need that thing to keep focus as walking around a room. Right now i set focus on a point and thats it no continuous focus and tracking @@AndreiRestrepo
In the r5 you can switch to video with one custom button. Faster then the r6ii
Sweet, good to know!
Wasn't that camera the start of canon lenses only?
Not sure what you mean! I can use whatever RF, EF, or third party EF lenses worn the adapter
The constant graphic gimmicks/image zooming in your video are annoying. Great info and it seems like a great camera, you just shouldn't rely on CZcams gimmicks to br like everyone else.
Also, there are record limits on the camera for video when you shoot at 4k 60fps, you get 40 minutes recording time. Why did you leave that huge bit of info out?
I didn't leave that out, I just made the review based on my specific experience with it throughout my photo/video shoots. I don't know anyone that would need to record in 4k60 for extended amounts of time, like one continuous clip anyway. For me, I was able to record multiple hours for video shoots in 4k 60 in multiple clips, like someone normally would shooting in that frame rate. Since this review, no overheating like I mentioned for all the shoots I do on a weekly basis. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
jeez , whinning over 0.7 crop
Big difference for real estate work, thanks for watching though!
