Nice job. Lived in Chicago for 15 years and loved Chicago dogs!!!
I've been waiting for this one Mike. Great job!🤘
Yeah Mike totally nailed this cook/method/tradition! Looks amazing hey?!
Thank you very much, Joe!
That's in your wheelhouse for sure Mike and you crushed it! Man those Vienna beef dogs are fantastic! I ordered everything to make Chicago hot dogs about 9 years ago. We absolutely loved them!
Thank you very much, brother! This one is dear to me just because of where I’m from. Vienna is the absolute best hot dog 🌭!
I wouldn't touch this and then my wife brought one home. Now, I can't get enough! Good stuff!
Looks great👍🤓👍. But I can't do the seeded bun
Choose a bun that is close to it and give it a try!
@@SnSGrills 👍🤓👍.my body don't digest seeds!!
No worries just use whatever bun you normally use. Not a big deal. Thank you very much for watching!
dude...love your video!!!...the history is a nice touch! thanks buddy!
4:48 That grill, lid, drip pan, and grate are the cleanest I have ever seen!
Chicago dogs rock! Hey, from Schaumburg.
The way Mike talks about them they must be good!!
Thank you very much for watching, Marty! I grew up in Melrose Park not far from Schaumburg. Cheers!
You rock! Thanks for sharing this recipe, I’ll definitely try it!
Thank you very much for watching!
-Mike
Today is my 60th birthday and I am celebrating with Chicago style hot dogs! My entire family will be trying them for the first time. I am a long time fan. this should be a great day! Thanks for the vid!
Thank you!! Cant wait to make one myself.
Hope you like it!
I'm a Chicago guy and that is one awesome looking hot dog. They look so good but for my tastes, it's no relish or sport peppers. In 52 years, never found a way to like that relish or sport pepper. That said, the Chicago dog is probably the best looking hot dog out there, even with that relish and peppers...LOL. Great vided Mike!
It’s good to make it your own. You and Mike are lucky to be able to walk down the street and pick these up. Yum!!
You have my permission to make them and eat them any way you like, but NO ketchup lol. Thank you very much for watching, Troy!
@@EverydayBBQ If I EVER put ketchup on a hot dog, you have my permission to stop me by any means necessary...LOL
@@troyv8302 lol 😂
I used to order without the peppers but then found out that the peppers fall off anyway when you eat it.
Mike these looks AMAZING! Being in Canada I’ll have to find some similar alternatives to keep it as close to true Chicago style as possible. Yum!!

You’re welcome ☺️
So good.
Thank you very much, brother!
Awesome!
Thank you very much for watching!
These were picture perfect and as right as right gets when it comes to a Chicago Dog! Enjoy!
Mike you nailed this video. Right is right for sure! I can’t wait to taste these from Chicago one day!
Mike you are right, they do look picture perfect. Great job and awesome video! Take care!
Yes they do! Mike nailed this for sure!
Thank you very much, Doug!
YUUUMMM!
🍻
Thank you very much for watching!
Howdy Mike! PERFECTION on a bun! Phenomenal video!
Thank you very much, KD!!
I will three with a cold drink! Yum!
Sounds great! I'll have a few as well!
Me too! Thank you very much for watching!
Those hotdogs looked very good. And here I am eating a plain pickle...
Bahaha. The real question though is what kind of pickle? I’m preferable to Polskie.
@@SnSGrills They are from Rustic Pantry, farmhouse style. These are hot but tasty and crunchy. Found them at Blain's Farm & Fleet.
I have to try the Polish pickles.
Lol thank you very much for watching!
Now that's what you call a hot dog. I'm in agreement that ketchup doesn't belong on hot dogs. Cheers, Mike!
Thank you very much for watching, Dwayne!
You said it right Mike, Complex. Being 6 1/2 hours South of Chicago I consider myself a Southern Guy. It's Big Fat Red Hots (They are not hot) here and nothing about a Chicago Dog looks right or makes sense UNTIL that 1st bite. I could eat them 3 easy. Traveling thru the area I always had to stop and eat a few. You made this look easy Great job....
Thank you very much!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
I miss a great Chicago dog! Hard to find here in Georgia! Great video Mike, looking forward to more in the future!
Thank you very much, Murl!
Sounds like a business opportunity!
I love Chicago dogs but everyone subs jalapeño for the sport peppers near me (NE Ohio). I do love the sport peppers though.
Thank you very much for watching!
One of my favorite hotdogs KETCHUP IS A SIN!
What is the relish made from? Bell pepper? Cucumber? I've never had a Chicago dog...these look amazing.
It’s basically made out of pickle. This one is special though!
Look around your area for the ingredients needed and give it a try!
It's literally regular relish with some blue food coloring
sweet relish not dill. and yes, just add a couple drops of blue food color to the jar to get the green color.
Saw the title and I knew it had to be you Mike.
Great cook
Lol thank you very much, Sharky!
Heck ya Mike!!! That looked like the perfect Chicago style hotdog to me!! Only thing I would have done different was put a little ketchup on those potato chips!! Ha ha
Ricer, I thought you were going to say on the dog 😂 You would. haha
Lol NO KETCHUP, Ricer! 😂. Cheers, brother! Thank you very much for watching!
I've got the recipe down pat except in Arizona I can't find poppyseed buns. I've looked everywhere.
I never had any desire to eat a Chicago style dog. I'm more a chili & onion, mustard hot dog fan. Or even just sauerkraut & ketchup on my hot dogs. That said, you made this look so delicious, I gotta try it now. Hope I can find the right brand of hot dog and the relish too. I can see where this is one of those recipes that the right ingredients are everything. Thanks for the great video Mike👍🏼🌭
Thank you very much, Salty! -Mike
White onions everyone that’s important
Making these for Memorial Day with homemade potato chips, Mexican Coke and blueberry pie. Can’t wait!
Renumber gratitude for those who died for you. That's what Memorial Day is all about.
Damn Mike those look freaking amazing!! Kudos. I think my Dodgers could learn something from this and applying to Dodger dogs...LOL
Haha 😂 I think the Yankees have this years Series wrapped up lol.
@@EverydayBBQ I think you are right
That cooker is it electric or propane
Onion, relish, mustard, celery salt, and sport peps are key IMO. The tomato and pickle are nice too, but optional for me.
I used to skip the tomato too, then one day Portillos messed up my order and I ate it anyway. Loved it lol.
Looks delish! Too much pickle, though. Smaller slice.
mike i can walk to Jays beef in 3 blocks and enjoy a great hotdog!
I’ve been to both NYC and Chicago. Hands down, Chicago Hot Dogs are way better and cheaper. If anyone wants to visit either city, I’ll save them the Headache and choose Chicago.
Thank you for watching, PJ. -Mike
For 5 cents, I would eat at least 4, maybe 5 on a good day. I like that you were true to the Chicago dog. I've had wana be Chicago dogs and they are a disappointment
There’s a reason why there is a right way and not so right way. Mike nailed this for us all!
I’ll bet I can do 4 or 5 too! Lol. Thank you very much for watching!
char dogs?
Those foot longs?
The dogs are supposed to be steamed. Great video tho
Thanks for watching, Joe.
@@EverydayBBQ No problem. gave you a subscribe too. gonna check out more later. Oh and Plochmans brand mustard too. We're picky about chicago dogs lmao
Bro took 45 minutes to cook a hot dog
You said if you don't do it right people are going to hear about it. And then you go putting them on a kettle Grill. what's the matter you??

Why preach that food has to be done a specific way or that recipes must be followed exaxtly, and that doing it differently is wrong. I love SNS content but this video had a different vibe
Yeah make it your own, BUT this dog is sorta in line with a Philli Cheesesteak. There are many versions but people will let you know it's not the right version haha. This is one is true to Chicago with everything that makes it a true Chicago Dog. You may not be able to find everything exactly but do your best to find close to ingredients.
This recipe is very specific and because of the history and traditions, it’s important to show the proper method. The good news is you can do it any way you like it! Thank you very much for watching!
To much salad
Disagree with your assertion that this is the only true “Chicago” dog. I’ve been to many places in Chicago that are famous for their version, they’re all a little different. The best Chicago dogs are the ones you like best.
There’s truth to that for sure. Mike is from Chicago so these are the traditional way to make them.
There’s no law so I say eat them how you like em! I was just showing the traditional way. You’re right there are lots of places that serve it differently. Gene and Jude’s for one with only mustard and onion. The good news is they’re all good!
They are being diplomatic. There’s a Chicago dog. There’s a Chicago deep dish pizza. Are there other pizzas you can by in Chicago? Oh yeah but there are and should be traditional regional dishes like these
