  • Walking around the island of Gilli Meno taking the sights and sounds of island life, I offer my thoughts and opinions on why people may prefer here as an option to Bali or other places.
We stumble across a massage in process right on the beach, we see divers heading out for the day, boatmen repairing their craft as well as walking through small villages with local life abundant.
There are other aspects of the community which I think need commentary, from comparisons to western living, how locals seem more content with life, and how we can learn from what appears to be a very relaxing existence.
Gilli Meno is an easy walk around in about an hour or so with lots of unique and interesting aspects to island life to be seen.

I visited these Gilis several times. Your beautiful videos remind me of how incredibly friendly, strong minded and open the local people in general are there.
At least on Gili Trawangan, I was told that most (?) of local people there only live on Gili T during working days and return to Lombok to their main home during days off.

Many of the locals on Gili T also mentioned the same to me. I think the other two islands are a little different in that more people seem to originate from each individual island.

It would be quite easy to get stuck here for a month, gc, that's for sure. Always grateful for you saying hello, thanks.

Good question, p1085, and one I should probably have addressed. I was surprised at the absence of mosquitos on Meno this time around. Yes, there was the occasional one or two here and there around dusk, but nothing like I remember from years ago. I wonder if it being dry season in these parts contributed to their low numbers, or perhaps there has been some sort of control implemented - whatever might the case, mosquitos weren't ever a consideration or annoyance. Cheers.
