- Played a 9 hole Game with PGA Australasia Tour Professional, Ben Wharton, at Moonah Links GC in Victoria! Very Very very nervous playing with him if you haven't noticed but WHAT A DAY!
A HUGE shoutout to this man’s incredible work👇🏻

I played with Ben in the QLD Open 2021 for the first two rounds. It was his first tournament back after a few years off. He hit a below average tee shot on the first hole (into the hazard) still chatted to me the whole way up the fairway. He started the round poorly but didn’t let it bother him. Grinded the back nine and in round 2 and made the cut. He is genuinely one of the best people you will meet on or off the golf course and his psychological state is one to admire.
Love this story, thanks for sharing it!!! Despite the nerve at the start, he made it so comfortable to play around with!!
Don’t doubt that. One of the good guys on tour!
Oh Jason mate that’s so kind of you to say. Loved playing with you that day and meeting your old man!! you’re a fantastic bloke looking forward to seeing you again soon
Very stoic
Props to Ben - seems a very genuine and nice guy to play a round with. Pro seems to be able to swing without any pressure or external distractions
He's right about the casting, I never thought about it until I went on a month run of absolutely smoking my driver then one day I went to the range and couldn't even hit it.
Took a video of myself and realized I was pretty much Tom Hanks befriending a volley ball as much as I was casting away. It's an absolute strike killer.
100% it’s what most all ams do generally
Wow a surprising amount of haters in the comments. Yourself and Ben are both class acts! Keep doing your thing slump 👍
Absolutely love your content sir! I've just taken up golf and your training videos/clips have already helped massively 🙂
This was a great watch. Getting a tour player's perspective is always an eye opener. Great content!
Thanks! 🙏
Fun entertainment and a good demonstration, thanks. Ben summed it up when he said “you should be used to 60 footers now.”
Years ago I was in the gallery of a Fred Couples charity event in Seattle. His brother Tom (scratch) and the NBA announcer Kevin Calabro (10 Hcp) were playing with Freddie and I followed them for the day interested to see the differences as well as to enjoy watching Freddie’s amazing game. There was a much bigger difference between FC and his brother the scratch player than there was between scratch and ten. Tour players are amazing and will occasionally put together rounds of 60 on long difficult course rated 77. Their handicaps are in the +8-9 range nearly 10 shots better than scratch. And I think the difference gets greater the harder the course chosen.
You have a great game and would kick my 5 handicap ass, but we both have a long way to go (talent, practice, and brains) to play like a tour pro.
Absolutely agree here! It might look like just the difference of numbers in the handicap but it’s WAY more than that 😅
💪🏽🏌🏽♂️
17:47 So cool that a pro with many years experience still gets excited watching one of the greatest hitting balls on the range.
Tiger is the GOAT!!! 🥰
Great video and was insightful to hear Ben talk us through it
Thank you
Ben what a nice guy!👍🏻
Very Comfortable and Enjoyed watching bro👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks bro appreciate it!! You’ll be up next 😅
@@golfslump sounds great😁😁
Thank you so much 😊
Accuracy is the main difference especially on longer irons, woods and drivers. Also the ability to shape shot almost everytime you need it. Don't get me wrong, being scratch is another level for me too. Good video mate.. Merry Xmas!
Thanks rob!! Happy new year! 🎉
"ill just aim to the left edge of that bunker and hope for a fade"
hits a snap hook, just like the rest of us
Love it!!!!
Hahah still can play the boy!!
Love these videos so much.
Great video. Thanks for putting out the content!
What a Grand Introduction! 🙏
Thank you 🙏
Ben is so confident and still humble.
Really liked his composed yet chilled vibes!!
Great coach
Thank you!!

Thank you for this video. Some great tips in there to learn from. Apart from the fact Ben stripes the ball pure, he is so calm and collected , he talked about meditation this must have helped, this game is so damn hard all these things must help. Very insightful 👍🏻
Meditation definitely helps me stay calm 🧘🏽♂️
Nice to see some local golf / courses on you tube
More coming!
Great course
Great vid! Classy Ben!
Great video, really informative and interesting. Ben seemed like a top guy and you put up a good fight after the double on 1
Tried to hang in there 😅
Hahaha wait for the back 9 :)
@@Benwhartongolf Ben, sorry buddy but I’d never heard about you until this vid but I guarantee I’m going to search and follow you as soon as I sober up after New Year celebrations! 🤣🏴 I’m a 3.4, and play 7 days a week trying to get to scratch! Wish me luck.
I’ve never heard of me 😂 but thank you mate I really appreciate the support
Ben is such a nice guy thanks for the vid!
Such a chilled dude!
Thanks so much I appreciate you saying that
Enjoyed this, thanks man.
You’re welcome
That was great to watch, Ben couldn't have been cooler if he tried, wow 👌
Such a legend he is!!!
Love these longform videos mate!
moonah links is by far one if my favourite courses
Sooooo good!
Sorry couldn’t wait, did you just jump 4 feet straight out of the bunker?! OK I gotta watch this to the end. 👍😎
😂
A most enjoyable and informative video. Cheers guys 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
You’re more than welcome
If you’ve actually seen a lot of tour players hands and club face after impact, they don’t flip their hands at all. They rotate and control the face so much better than amateurs. Eventually the wrists hinge again at some point in the follow through but way later
Agreed
I love moonah links. Legends course.
Great round as always mate, keep it up 👊🏻
Will do ;)
Your driver swing on 4 though 🔥
Great vid!!! Unreal aussie content
More coming!!
🙏
Great watch - thanks for the top content!
Thanks Chris! Spent a little more time on this one 😅
Thanks for watching
Wow! Last hole; you carried 292!? What do you usually carry? You smoked that
Caught onto it 😅
What shaft do you have in that mavrik? I have a mavrik as well but thinking about a new shaft…
For the most part the biggest difference between a Tour Pro and a Scratch golfer is putting skill and "Unwavering" mental tenacity.
Excellent idea for a video. Ben was very insightful. How did it feel as a scratch golfer to see that kind of talent up close?😊
I think you could hear me each time Ben hit his shots 😂
Great video and some great tips from Ben!
Thank you
Great video. Thanks for creating it! Would be funny/interesting to see high HCP versus tour pro. LOL.
Thought this was already funny enough! 😂
Hahahah happily win by 30 😂
Great video. Defo gonna have to start wiggling my toes
Try it!!!! 👀👀
Wiggle wiggle wiggle
Those were some real tough greens that day.
I didn’t hole many putts 😂
Great video! Thanks legends! Can confirm Ben is a great player, coach and human !
Thank you so much Jon!! Straight back at you mate

Beautiful course! Great insight into the mind of a tour player!
So interesting isn’t it?!
One of the best courses in Aus
OMG, an intelligent pro with social skills and a nice manner. Obv old school. Wait- that doesn't make sense.🤣
Hahaha thank you for your kind response 🫶🏽
Not even the pros plays from the tips lol
I suggested not to 😅
@golfslump what shaft is that on your driver??
... about 4 birdies...
Sounds about right 😅
Hi, I'm a tour player and we are on the 480 yd Par 4 1st and out on the right is a bunker about 290 and I'm going to take my Jetson driver and my super-hot ball and make the course design irrelevant as I will crush it 320 to set up my 160y PW which will bite and hold the green no matter how hard it is. I will then use my AI designed putter to line up the easily makeable 12-footer.
I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make here
1 day any tee vs 4 days back tees.
The difference between scratch marker and a tour player... is the same difference between an 18 marker and a scratch marker. About 18..... I played off zero... (not scratch) and my scoring average in the Ivo Whitten was 75..... i worked out one day, over one hundred rounds, that there was a 800 shot difference between me and tiger woods.....! 😂
😂it’s true
@@Benwhartongolf sad.... but true.. 👍
Scratch golf are you serious?
Big difference is that we are not CONSISTENT
All I need 2 c is 1 hole 2 tell the difference between u 2!
😂
Bro, dont try play fade when ur clearly a drawer of the ball. Have one shot shape with driver. Try and learn fade with 3wood just so you have that shot if you really need it.
always be aggressive
Defensive target aggressive swing
@@Benwhartongolf practice executing aggressive targets
What do u even need those sunglasses for 😂
Fashion 😅
I hope Ben gets over his lack of self confidence
mate you're not a scratch golfer. you're a 5 over golfer.
You must know nothing about golf hey 😅
Hardest course in Aus
From this day until your last, Jesus Christ is the absolute most important figure in your life, whether you believe it or not.The books write about Him and history bears witness to His acts. You cannot escape Him. The most popular book in the world is all about Him and more importantly is that His word is etched into your heart. Your being bears witness that we have a Creator, something cannot come from nothing, that has never been true. Trust in Him while you still have time. Unlike God, your worldly existence is finite. There is salvation in NO other name and the gift is free, it has been paid for. I love you and want the best for you. He has the ability forgive your sins and deep down, you know you're imperfect and a sinner, we all are. Trust in the Lord.

mate, if you want to get to the next level, stop it with the club twirl. be humble and the game will reward.
It’s a habit 😮 I was being humbled each time Ben was hitting 😅
you both are great ball strikers, but Ben is slightly better :)

@@DeezzzzNutzzzzyou can be a scratch golfer and hit over par mate, settle down
@@danielweissel2366this guy is obsessed with me for some reason….. it’s a bit creepy 😅
@golfslump you are plenty humble don't listen to this nonsense. As if twirling the club has anything to do with your scores. It's merely imitating what the greatest golfers do, and they wouldn't say something as ignorant as this comment.
