Great video. Only tip I would add is to mark the bolts with a paint marker after tightening, to have a visual indicator showing if the bolts are coming loose.
I'm looking into getting into the sport. I have been watching Anthony Vella and he has really turned me on to this unit. Hopefully I'll be buying this year or next spring!
That was a great instructional video....good job sir! i will be taking my PARAMOTOR training in the first few months of 2021.....still trying to make up my mind on where to learn, but after hearing about GRAVITY PARAMOTORS I want to buy from this company......MADE IN THE USA and by VETERANS!!
Been researching different paramotors to purchase after finishing my training... The Gravity brand has quickly jumped to the front of the paramotors I'm considering to purchase next to Parajrt Mavric and Scout NXT. The fact you have to partially build the paramotor is absolutely AWESOME! So you understand the functionality and components of the aircraft! Not to mention the ability to customize your order right out of gate, instead of having to settle for factory standard equipment, specifically the harness. Great job on your design and I will undoubtedly be looking into your products before making my final decision! Absolutely awesome concept to the paramotor world!👍
thank u thank u thank u bravo bravo bravo for for making this video possible on youtube r the best awesome now i can go to home depot and start my own shop w that my company any way awesome r the best.
First off, excellent video!👍 Can you make a video of all the customizable options you offer? As someone new to the hobby, it would be great to understand what all the build options listed, actually mean. I will of course work with a dealer, but would feel more comfortable with a baseline understanding. Also it would allow me to likely choose more upgrades🤑. Thanks again!
Stanley, no you will not have any problems with warranty. If you reach out to your dealer we can get you shipped out steel bolts with zinc coating. Just pay the freight. The aluminum bolts are easier to cross thread than steel of course but they do save over 1/4 lbs.
I stumbled on one of Anthony vella videos the other day and liked his reviews of the defiant, (I subbed to him now) it’s a very nice paramotor and at a good price, it shows you how much other manufacturers are making from us, it’s great that you are making this available to pilots at a great cost, I was just about to purchase a maveric before I found these. May I ask, do you have any European distributors? I am in Belgium and would be interested in purchasing one, also I have read other comments and see others are also asking for a frame only option, I would also be interested in this only due to the high import taxes we have, the engine and harness come from Eu anyway so I wouldn’t get stung for tax for them (otherwise I would buy them from you as you also need to make your profit too) it’s just purely on a annoyance to the import duty we get stung with, even now when we buy from the uk but yet certain other country that’s making poor quality products for everything now come in free (you can imagine what country I’m on about) Thank you for your time and response. Keep up the good work Regards Sean
Shaun, We are currently trying to get a dealer base overseas but do not currently have any one completed as of yet. you can order from any of the USA dealers currently. As for frame only sorry we currently only sell as complete units. Any of our dealers will be able to take good care of you.
Loved watching Anthony Vella’s videos on you guys I’ve also built my own gravity on your website and that was real fun guys… I’m just leaving early stages and would really consider your paramotor for price & strength Ps do you deliver to New Zealand? Or have a dealer here? Peace
@52:25 on the base frame...once I get the level 1 puck threaded down enough to get the dovetail piece on my swingarm is locked in place and won't move?
It is for sure, we have some here and when we build that is what we use. But most people wont have that so used what most people have or what they can get at Ace. Great comment!
Great and clever design! I hope to get one when time comes :) the carbon spacers are in direct contact with the aluminum plate behind the engine? maybe it could lead to galvanic corrosion issues, if not using a fiberglass layer between them. Keep on rocking!
Daniel, That is a great point and with our aviation background as well we have looked at that for sure. We have found that engines come on and off for service well before any corrosion starts to set in. With just a few passes on the aluminum during service will keep it away.
Are there any torque specs given for all fasteners? I might have missed that if they are listed. In my past experiences with presision engine building, there are torque specs for every bolt on not only the engine, but the entire vehicle. I would feel much more confident having a given value for tightening. To me "tighten" is too much of a variable. That's just me though. Great video.
So, does the engine mount to the plastic fuel tank or is there some metallic part it mounts to behind your back? Have you tested the bottom of the tank with pilots who forget they are not using their chariot and butt land?
The engine mounts via the aluminum back brace up top and a plate with a pass through 2 pc part on the bottom. Yes the tank will take a comparable hit to other paramotors. If you do manage to break it, it is about 1/2 the cost of a tower replacement.
Do you know when you will be offering a frame and harness only option. I know you aren’t doing that right now for some reason but do you ever plan to release an option without a powerplant?
Byron, Unfortunately we do not have a date that we will offer frame only. We have not been able to keep up with demand as as it is. It may be a option in the future but not in our plans currently. So if you are looking at picking up a Defiant no time like the present.
I am concerned that backup strap from the harness is attached to sewn runner connecting swing arm to carabiner. The sewn runners have tendency to fail over time as they rub against metal under high stress. Therefore the backup strap should directly connect to carabiner, not the runner. In case sewn runner fails, it would not escalate to full blown emergency.
Alexander, Those are all great points. That is the beauty of the Defaint as the user gets to configure it how they like it. Up till now we have not offered any harness that has contained the extra strap. The runner used for the carabiners is a wear item for sure and is up to the user to replace at their choosing, although we do recommend yearly replacement.
Thanks for the prompt response. A year ago a sewn runner failed during SUPER training, pilot was unhurt because the backup strap engaged integral to FlatTop harness design. Dell circulated explicit warning to keep these maintained under higher scrutiny. Thanks for your great effort to make paramotoring accessible and safe.
Very good build video. No torque values for any of the screws? "tightening it snug but not too much" or "enough but not too tight" is a very wide range depending on the the builder.
Spoke to hoop attachment the insert just spins when you try getting it tight what is the trick there . I drop it in it's loose what keeps from spinning? I see you pressing it in with a large Allen. Mine falls in loosly
Rob, currently we do not have a UK dealer. In the meantime you can order from any Gravity dealer, gravityparamotors.com/dealers/ How ever if you have any recommendations of who we should contact we will reach out.
Are we ordering direct or through the agent I’m in Australia and have completed the order on your web site and sent it to the distributor We will be purchasing 2 motors - for the wife and I
Saw Anthony's video and went to look at your site. I see an option for defy and defiant, but i can't find anything about what the difference is. Only two dealers in Texas, 3+ hours away and both use Yahoo email addresses. Also strange you have a disclaimer that you might make money on links on your own brands website
Jarred, They are completely different paramotors. You can check out the Defy here czcams.com/video/90wdhkhP2KM/video.html . What email provider our dealers use is up to them. I can tell you that you will get good service out of both of them. Give them a call to see how they can help you. The disclaimer is for the financing options. If you apply for financing and use it they of course pay us for the product and must be disclosed.
Scott, what is the address, browser, and country you are viewing from? As everything on our end is showing life is great. Screen grabs would be great, Sales@gravityparamotors.com
@@gravityparamotors For me it's gone now. Behaves as normal again. I was going to test different countries with VPN but it looks normal now. Even though I finished building my Defiant, I keep coming back to watch this. It's oddly entertaining. 😂
How do I get one?
Are you still flying your paramotor
I'm looking into getting into the sport. I have been watching Anthony Vella and he has really turned me on to this unit. Hopefully I'll be buying this year or next spring!
I guarantee, Gravity Defiant owners will know their paramotor better than ANY other paramotor pilot out there!
As I finish my build I’m certainly getting that feeling.
As any pilot should know the aircraft in and out, Now they have to lol
Wow this is such an awesome design, I hope you guys continue to use the high-quality materials shown in this video for your future models.
Just ordered mine! Very excited to make a video on building the unit and first impressions!
Hope you enjoy it! We lookforward to your feedback!

Great video for the weekend mechanic. I am a retired A&P mechanic and I will definitely use this video when I build mine. Very cool 👍😎👍
Glad it helped!
Glad I have a comrade with whom I can confer. I’m just finishing mine now.
Here to support you and build it myself. Lucky to have my A&P. Waiting on my Christmas 🎁 🎄
Right on, We are trying to get everyone going ASAP.
I ordered mine. Can't wait!

Thanks for the idea! This has been on our list, we have to give our filming crew a week or two off then back at it!
You guys planning on making a trike kit?
I have a problem with aluminum bolts. Would there be a warranty problem if I replaced them with stainless steel?

@52:25 on the base frame...once I get the level 1 puck threaded down enough to get the dovetail piece on my swingarm is locked in place and won't move?
Instead of using Vice Grips to hold the Tensioning Spring, it might be easier to use hemostats? I'll test this when I get my Defiant.
It is for sure, we have some here and when we build that is what we use. But most people wont have that so used what most people have or what they can get at Ace. Great comment!
So if I buy one cN you build for me...I'll pay....lol
Great info on building the Defiant. Do the loctite bottles come with the unit? Also, any time frame on a hitch mount for the Defiant?
Loctites did come with mine. One of each strength.
Yes it comes with all three flavors of vibratight as Ward said.

Always make sure your kill throttle works!
Always make sure your kill works before you go flying for sure!
Spoke to hoop attachment the insert just spins when you try getting it tight what is the trick there . I drop it in it's loose what keeps from spinning? I see you pressing it in with a large Allen. Mine falls in loosly
The allen gives pressure until the threads pull it in tight to prevent spinning.

At exactly 3:50 Minutes. You didn't specify how you put the gear in 😢so it catches? or so it does not catch? you left a very important part out.😊.

Why is it when I visit your web site I am inundated with spam and adds. Can't do any shopping and I am very serious about a paramoter purchase.
Definitely something wrong there, everything that can be clicked now opens some very dodgy websites! No issue last week.

Wow
It's confusing and complicated if you purchased defiant X

Looks like alot of parts and alot of ways to screw things up and get hurt or dead
The dealer in Australia is not very good.
Only interested in sales then abandons customers.
