- I have had my all-electric paramotor from Open-ppg for over a year now. and thought it would be good to take it out and give you my thoughts on it.
I fly to the foothills and get into some turbulence then I cruised the Idaho farmland low and slow.

Not a pansy move to be smart enough to turn around in trash air. Good call!
It even takes some balls to say "no", turn around and fly in a safer wind area. And to film that and show it on CZcams.
Great decision!
The autogenerated subtitles are so entertaining
hahah! yeah, like "holy s***" became "Polish"
I don't think those are auto-generated. "I think this is barley" was captioned "I think this is beer" followed by "dragon to beez" . I'm pretty sure that is pure Jonas! 🤣
“I hate missiles” 😂
Nice Oreos growing here
It was a comedian at Britain got talent, a couple of years ago. He talked about the tube. But the subtitles said "the jew".
Flying low is so much more fun to watch.
I quite enjoy him panicking in turbulence 😬😂 can't wait for the mountain ride!
Rule Nr 1 in aviation: Stay away from the terrain!
@@SkywalkerPaul If you assume parachute deployment or recovering from a stall, yes.... But if you're excluding those.... you can live in an accident in one of these if youre 10 feet off the ground.
this makes me want to start paramotoring.
It really is magical.
@@JonasMarcinko But dangerous. Even you were getting scared hehe. Thermals, power lines, no wind, too much wind, etc... AHHHH! Dang it looks so fun though.
@1:35 - "Had a glass of water for breakfast.... feelin' energized!" ---- LOLOL
I had a blast reading those subtitles ... LOL
Dude. That was the most fun I've had on CZcams in a long time. I was right there with you man. Thanks so much.
Pretty darn cool, you should post these more often.
Glad you are enjoying the paramotor. I don't have an electric one but I'm definitely addicted to flying my gas guzzler version. Keep having fun, taking care of that family, and staying safe! Random thought.... if you don't have an instructor to help you with your launch technique the internet could be helpful (brutal but helpful... ha ha) if you filmed some of your launches and posted them I'm sure you'd get some advice. :P
That looks like soooooo much fun!!! Good to see ya Jonas! I hope your girls are doing well!!!
Doesn't like bumps on a paramotor but is flying directly towards a mountain...lol Good/fun content as usual.
OMG!!! That was awesome. When I was in the Army I was sent to the Sahara Desert to search for the remains of the crew of the Lady Be Good (B-24 plane) and we used Bell helicopters (2 of them ) in the search and it would have been easier with your elict
As a paraglider pilot, I have a love-hate relationship with the bumps. We need thermals to get up, but when it gets really rowdy, you really wish you were on the ground 😅
My knee is hurting from watching U run! Awesome video!
Great flight! We just did a thermal course and rivers are a great "Trigger point" for thermals to release from, you'll probably find a pattern of bumps when crossing them. You can't believe how envious a lot of us are, walk out your door, arrived at the launch site, You lucky, lucky $@&! My closest is 50km away...
Bro.... LOVE your sense of humor... and transparency. Great stuff. Fly safe.
That was a very relaxing video, almost makes me want to get one!
I would love to do this. Maybe in the next life. Sure looks like fun Jonas! I would love to see more videos from you. I don't care what it is, all your videos are fun to watch.
Great flight! Thank you for the perspective on electric paramotoring.
Just found your channel and subscribed, awesome life you're living. I've been stuck to my screen most of the day watching your videos and congratulations on your beautiful family you have started. I've been drawn to aviation my entire life but haven't really had things right for me to pursue buying a aircraft but have been flying paramotor for about a year now and I love it, I'm 60 years old but i don't see myself stopping anytime soon, some of us just aren't meant to spend our entire lives on the ground. Really enjoy everything you are doing on your channel and watching your videos I've decided to have a go at building a ultralight aircraft something similar to yours but will try using a four stroke engine.
That is crazy but looks like fun next time bring a fishing pole 🎣 catch & cook ☮️
Nill wind, tall grass=BEAST MODE! Well done. Flying when the sun is getting overhead, AND heading towards mountains, does make for a bumpy adventure. An amazing lack of power lines in that area. Thanks for the vid!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! Looks like lots of fun!
Bumps = lift. Bumps = good!
Great video dude, but thermals are nothing to be scared of as long as you know how to control your wing and practice 'active flying'. I know alot of PPGers avoid them but its nothing to be too concerned about - the wing wants to stay inflated!
Hi from the UK. Cool little video, great country side and good content. flying low is so much fun. I used to hate setting up but, was worth it once up. Thanks for posting Jonas.
Thanks for another great video! As a long time GA and hang glider pilot, paramotors always seemed too slow, but that kind of flying is awesome. I still want one of a hang glider. Thanks for the year review.
Thank you for the ride, Jonas.
Prince P-tip props, quietest and best performing, what I have on the 7
Awesome video. I was too curious about toroidal propellers, so I did a comparison. The results shocked me, can't wait for production.
Love the ride you got there!
Absolutely love the low and slow cruising videos, please do more of these!!
That was so fun.... Thank you. I could listen to you all day. This video made my night.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks 😊
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Get the dudek universal 25M and a reserve. Fly high and make sure you fly safe for your loved ones!
Good morning from Minnesota!! Great episode!
THAT IS SO COOL Thanks for sharing.
I might give one of those a try sometime while I'm still young 🤪🤣
Flying above the weeds…one second to “oh sh!t” moment…😮
Hey Jonas, you were running for a while before applying full power, in NIL winds I find that using a powered launch helps a lot. You cage needs to be strong enough to handle them but if it is I'd try that. Cheers and congrats on the baby.
Jonas,good job ! 👍!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍
Love your videos Bro. Get yourself a trike for your launching it would make your life a lot easier lol.
Great content . Clearly you are a working man and farmer first but that's your recreation obviously and also a great way to cover your property and survey your crops and water etc. Also noticed you are cautious and safety aware as is possible and may prolong your life and hobby . Hopefully they will make an electric built for me with landing gear and a little more comforts for an old man who is already beat up lol
thanks 4 taking us along sure beat cabin fever from liberty ky pops
Great video. 😎
I think we need videos at least twice a week!
That was a cool video. I don't recall seeing all positive comments in a while. And funny too!!!
I love watching your videos. Im just getting into PPG. And I love the idea of a e motor but I want just a little more time before I make the jump
Only snag with trying to spray is - gross weight! Doubt you'd be able to carry enough load to really make it worthwhile. Cool flight :)
You are no stranger to hard work…even when you’re having fun!
Omg dude you need to get a modern wing! Launches gets soooo much easier. Check out the Apco F3😊
@JonasMarcinko my bicycle light batteries have a 'storage mode' which reduces the charge state to a safe storage level. Maybe you could ask the manufacturer to design a firmware update you could add? Great vid, tons of fun watching you spot shiny things. Cheers 👍😃
Nice! That thing worked out real nice. I hate how the new battery technology is the opposite of the way I have always treated batteries. With lead acid, you always wanted to keep them fully charged! Now you can’t keep lithium ion fully charged. So confusing!😂 I can’t believe it’s August already. That means I haven’t flown in one year. Crazy how time gets away from me! Anyway, enjoyed the vid, man. Flying low is fun to watch, too! 👍😎👍
You fly that the same way I would want to.... pretty close to the ground :D i like it
❤Hey Jonas, just found you. Really enjoyed the beautiful open land by you and taking the tour. Hope to see you make the mountain peak soon. Stay safe. Joe from 19:48 Orlando, FL
Welcome aboard!
I don’t like bumps either… That’s why I pretty much fly exclusively at sunset now. Especially in the summer. No thermal activity!
Also, what kind of wing you looking for? I have a few I’m looking to sell…
Courageous
The struggle to get in the air some days is absurd. Once you're airborne though... 😁😊
haha.. Nice flight. Thank's for brining us. I fly the OpenPPG X4 and definitely need some hearing protection. I don't know how many cycles you have on your battery but if your still getting 50minutes worth of power (55% and 25mins!) that seems really good. I hear ya about old wings and zero wind launches. I bought an Apco Hybrid. It's not efficient but it's ridiculously easy to launch. You're really trusting that thing flying low over places that would really really suck to hike out of with 70lbs of kit!
Crop dusting would not work unless the spray fluid is magically lightweight. Imagine running a zero wind launch with even another 5 gallons (30lbs?) of payload! No thank you sir and 5 gallons of weed spray won't go very far! LOL.
One other disadvantage I've discovered with my X4 is that near the end of the flight the available power is down a bit but my weight is the same so in a go around situation the performance is less than the take-off performance not better. Not an issue where you are but my fields are pretty tight and surrounded by 80' Cedar and Fir.
Hey Bill, I was not even looking for a PPG video and CZcams suggested this one😆. Nice flight ! I have cool vids coming up soon - alternating PG/PPG/PG for my students, etc... Later! Phil
Too cool,,,love it,,thank U..
You're such a passive pilot when going through thermals/turbulence! There are ways to counteract that pendulum effect when crossing thermals, and there are ways to find or avoid them. I highly recommend you take a course in PG free flight. It would serve your fun and safety very well. See you up there!
Nice review, I have a SP as well and flying an old Ozone Spyder wing which only gets me 35 minutes of flight time. 😢 I'm hopefully going to get a Spyder 3 to tryout soon. Stay safe and have fun.
Beware of old fences and other nasty surprises lurking in the weeds when flying low!
Sweet! I think I need to add a electric paramotor. How much did that cost you?Great video! My bump tolerance is pretty low as well…lol I’m a pretty conservative paraglider pilot though.
At null wind (as well as not null wind) you may try to launch with some thrust applied from the start (say 50%). It will give you quite a help pulling and running and also it will give your wing some wind for inflation.
I was wondering why he wasn't on the gas. Makes you work twice as hard and have to abort more often.
A nice round hill to run down on takeoff.
Yeah! Why doesn't he use that? I've never used a paramotor so maybe I don't understand enough. Is there a possibility of not getting enough lift and falling?
@@ChristmasEve777 Yes. You need enough airspeed moving past the wing... (about 8 mph for an average PPG wing)... which is easy with a 5 mph headwind because you only need to generate another 3 by running. But on a still day, hauling 75 lbs of equipment, with a chair rubbing against the back of your legs, it's a bit more difficult to get that 8 mph of airspeed because it's all running speed. Some wings require slightly less airspeed and some slightly more. Generally, the more lift built into the wing, the less airspeed is needed. Speedwings fly faster, but they require more speed to get into the air. When ppg pilots talk about more efficient wings they are probably talking about glide ratio, which is not the same as lift. More lift means more vertical speed per unit of airspeed. More glide ratio means more horizontal distance per unit of lift. Of course, increased speed means increased drag (air friction) so there is a diminishing return on airspeed. Every wing has a "best" speed for maximum glide slope and a "best" speed for maximum lift. Please note: I know more about sailplanes than PPGs, so if I have made a false comparison, I apologize and stand corrected.
Jonas, love your channel.. your exciting rides reminds me when I was your age. Now 70s. Please consider if the riskiest aspects of aviation are appropriate for a new farther with a lovely child and gorgeous wife….stay safe. Regards
Thanks! Will do!
These captions have me rollinggg
I loved that. I live in Idaho too. Up by Canada. I really enjoy the cruze you take near the ground. All of my life I have had dreams I could fly. Im older but I feel like I could relate to your personality. I want to ppg. You are the first electric one Ive seen. I think I like it. I want to ppg like you just did. NOT like Tucker Gott. I like the kid but I dont want to fly like he does some of the time. Scary. You didnt have a reserve. interesting. I cant see how it would help if you where low anyway. I want to learn to fly.
Good pilot
First! Whoop whoop! ❤
Altitude is your friend. Before you go much more, get yourself a reserve chute.
Nice, a lot quieter that a petrol one too!
Tucker Gott sells wings
Jonas talking about safety? Times they are a changing! I hope that one day all these fun toys take a standardized battery. No point in having an expensive battery in your electric bike when you're flying your paramotor etc
Feels like you are riding a drone - love the closeups.
Thank you Jonas. :)
P.S. I saw an "Air Coupe" for sale in Oregon. No engine, in bad shape, but fixable. Do you anyone that's interested?
😊👍 Nice.
The horses are always flippin' each other off. lol
You may consider a personal electric vehicle like a onewheeled machine or an adult scooter. At a fly in pancake breakfast, I saw 15-16 of them parked out front, it was a small fly in too. I have a wolf warrior x scooter, I can take my motor and wing off-road and climb grade, and wet dew grass is nothing with all terrain tires.
I want one!
It's the next best thing to seeing superman take off. It made me miss my crop-dusting days, it's the powerlines you don't see that really get you. I remember all of the training I had to do for my low flying endorsements, bouncing my tyres across the crops touching the ground for practice and running parallel with the powerlines to see if I could spot daylight under the wire to ensure I could fit under them. I have been dreaming of getting an Electric Paramotor for use in my country Australia. If those Torroidal props turn out efficient and quite, that would be a game changer. I know it is planned to be popular for aircraft and drones. There hasn't been much advancement in propellors, they used to have contra-rotating ones and both inline and as twin engine type, which took out torque. Out of expediency they stopped developing those in the beginning and instead stuck a tractor prop on and that went on for most aircraft until WW2, torque killed heaps of spitfire pilots on take-off with those 12 cylinder engines.
Maybe one day we will have integrated flexible paperlike solar panels on paragliders. On a 25 meter wing in midday there should be enough available power to sustain flight!
Love the idea of the E-paramotor. I'm curious if you could tweak the prop so it's not as loud...
RC battery chargers have a feature where you can discharge to storage voltage. Maybe there is a way to make it work with your paramotor battery?
The new style prop is also supposed to be much more efficient as well as quieter. Check into it. May give you more time per flight. I know gas mileage is increased on boats with them.
It’s not…it’s negligible and not really worth it
If it was quieter, all other performance the same, that would be nice. Silent flying with power would be great.
What is up with your wedding ring finger.?.? Llook at how red it is, YOU'VE got to get that RE-sized or something. What is that? 12:30
hello ,
i want to start paramotor and i wanted to know wich radio are you using with your Bose A20 ?
here in france we use the simple talkie walkie radio with Jack 3.5mm , is there any adapter for the Bose A20 ?
thank you
In NZ drones are taken over from choppers in AG spraying.
Tank's
Would the other wing that uses less power also fly slower though? This is pretty cool. I didn't even know that electric paramotors were a thing.
I just booked a paragliding course with a view to paramotoring after some experience ( I’m guessing that’s the way to do it?)
Lot of learning to do from absolute zero! 😂👍🏻
That's a great idea! you'll do great.
How dangerous are turbolences/thermals for paramotors?
How much is a new paramotor wing and reserve?
Depends but between $3500 - $5000.00
@@JonasMarcinko so what needs to happen get you into that SET-UP?
What needs to happen to get you back into STOL....?
How could investment help?
Simply.....
How can the community around the aero community help to grow the aeronautical community?
Social media, investment, etc., how can it grow?
@@JonasMarcinko I've purchased 2 to the music city stol.....that said, there's much more to be done aeronautical....
I can't wait to bring this series east!!
Thanks for sharing. My plan is to buy the SP and make my own battery out of solid state technology. It will go Twice the distance. But will cost 2 arms and 1 leg
Yes it will. that would be amazing! defiantly the way to go to save money if you understand how to build batteries. good luck!!
I don't know what is maximum speed of that paramotor but I think protective glasses can be a good idea. When i realize that some big insect can hit your eye. .... I like low level flying 🪂
Good point! That would suck.
I’m waiting until they make a sail/ parachute that is also a solar panel
I think you might be making the classic mistake of pulling too much on the A lines for your launch which is making it much harder.
Remember most of the pull force should be on the carabiners with straight lines and you're just following the lines as they come up with your hands and the As.
the biggest thing about paramoter flying that always put me off, where these damn annoying loud engines!
this electrification seems one of the best switchovers so far!
Bring it to Australia 🎉
Beginner wings are a pain to launch. I have the Mojo, and it's like a paper bag. 😛
