People forget that these "halls of fames" are essentially museums. Museums that have to charge admission to the public! And lots of potential admission doesn't get to the halls because players that the general public identify with do not get in. Deion Sanders makes a great point. The club is not exclusive. What he doesn't realize is that the exclusive players are not keeping the museum open! If the public is not coming through the doors just to see the exclusive players, then the halls must let in good players that the public identifies with. It has always been about the money. Even these so called Halls Of Fame!
I agree with Deon. I have been saying this for years. It’s not exclusive anymore. I don’t think they ever defined the criteria. Is it longevity but no rings? Is it having rings but not being great? Is it only playing 6 years but great all six? Character. Can you be great on the field and not be off the field? Should character even be considered? Can you get in with good character and average skill but played 10+ years? They need to set the criteria for nomination. It’s too ambiguous.
Deion shoulda used that platform to plead a case for his former teammate Jesse Tuggle to be in the Hof.In 14 seasons he racked up 1,804 tackles 4th all time. From 1990 to 1999 no one had more tackles then Tuggle, led the league in tackles 4 times 5 Pro bowls, 3 time All Pro, 6 TD's 21 sacks still holds the 2nd all time single season combined tackles at 207. He had 189 consecutive starts for a MLB which is also impressive for that position all that production from an undrafted player. And he'll never see the HoF cause he played on sub par Falcons teams
I would feel cheated if I was a hall of famer and they let Eli Manning in the HOF. Just because you win a couple of superbowl mvps should not grant you access. Great and durable quarterback, no question.
I love Drew Pearson, but his nationally televised rant for not being inducted into the hall at the time he thought he deserved it has tarnished his great cowboy legacy. I'm just saying.
I agree. For many years an OLineman could not make the HOF. In the past 15 years, they've finally been getting some respect! I bet Neon Deion would gladly include those guys NOT getting in if he could. Who has heard of offensive linemen? "Just big fat guys."

The best idea was one from Bill Simmons - a spiraling up Hall if Fame so entry level people like Eli or Frank Gore could be at one level then you move up to the greats like Steve Young and Megatron and eventually get to the GOATs like Brady (eventually), Rice, Lawrence Taylor, etc...
Allan Hernandez go ask belicheck! 7th in yardages and tds.... 6th in completions. 200 plus consecutive starts. 8-4 in the playoffs. His stats are far superior to Namath and Bradshaw! Now he’s not Brady or his brother or brees. Etc. but he still is a great qb. It’s a team game and when he had the right players around him he produced!
@@stephenarato5391 You can't compare QB'S of different era's. Once Eli Manning had a top 10 QB rating in 16 seasons and never in the top 5. So calling him very good is a stretch.

And until Pete Rose gets in the baseball Hall of Fame isn't legit to me.
@Kenny Lafortune Yao Ming was a groundbreaker, his presence changed the entire scope of the league globally because of the entire country of China he brought with him. That's exactly what the Hall of Fame is about. He was a game changer. He 100% deserved it based on that merit.
I'm glad someone said it. If Ken Stabler and Joe Namath made it in then I wouldn't be upset if Eli went first or second ballot. The quickest way into the HOF is to become a media darling after you hang up your cleats.
One guy that Prime said he couldn't defend was Sterling Sharpe. He said Sharpe should be in the Hall of Fame. Sharpe was the first guy to start getting 100 receptions.
I totally agree with you. The Hall of Fame should be based on how great you are not meeting a quota. Matter fact skip the years of how long you have to be retired in order to be eligible for the Hall of Fame.

He just said Eli. I think he's talking about Joe namath, maybe dan fouts and troy aikman. There's a bunch of other guys at other positions that shouldn't be in as well. The qualifications just keep getting broader and broader. The quota of players is stupid as well.

Respect to Prime he always speaks the TRUTH! I agree 100% look I'm a Giants fan so of course I respect Eli, However not a Hall Of Famer at least not 1st Ballot. If he gets in then it is time to go back and get Jim Plunkett and finally put him in because he won 2 Super Bowls as well
The difference is that Eli Manning is also in the top 10 in every major passing category. He made 4 Pro Bowls (Plunkett made none). And it's worth noting that Plunkett, while on the Raiders, had at least 7 teammates who were future Hall-of-famers (4 on offense). Eli played with just one HOFer (Strahan).

Deion says players that changed the game, should be in the HoF. Then he says, Richard Sherman is a HoF. I like Sherman but he ain’t HoF (yet). He’s been part of a great Defense that helps look good.

He aint lying. Every year players get in the nfl hof that played 50 years ago, didnt get in back then and then somehow without a single extra game played they get in years later when they would be a practice squad player today if that. Eli Manning is a .500 qb for his career and will get into the hof because of his last name, where he played and that he beat brady in the superbowl twice.
Brady, P Manning, Marino, Montana, Elway. If a QB don’t look right a picture next to those guys they don’t belong on the HoF. Eli doesn’t fit in with those guys.
disorder... Okay, I'll bite. What the hell did Dan Marino do to be able to say Eli didn't do as much or more, and therefore does not deserve to be in that group? Can't wait to read that response! I love he said it best you dont even have to think. He made some great points and maybe even longevity.
You can say there’s no exclusivity and then proceed to say yes to everybody straight after lol
Or how Dan keeps saying current players even though prime said not to.
If Deion thinks the NFL and MLB HOFs have become a joke, he ought to have take a look at the Rock N' Roll HOF, which is a REAL JOKE.

This is sooo true. Its happening with ALL hall of fames in everything (football, basketball, hockey, even entertainment)
bottom line: HE'S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
I agree with Deon.

Durable? Dude would fall down before contact and fumble just so no one would hit his bitch ass.

The Hall of fame voting committee should only consist of former players and coaches from different eras!!!!
100% agree with him. There should be years with no new members.
I love Drew Pearson, but his nationally televised rant for not being inducted into the hall at the time he thought he deserved it has tarnished his great cowboy legacy. I'm just saying.
Why is Pearson in but not Cliff Branch? Compare their numbers and SB rings!
I'm with Deon on this one. Politics is just bad for the game...

They already have that, it’s called being a first ballot vs a 5th lol

The difference is that Eli Manning is also in the top 10 in every major passing category. He made 4 Pro Bowls (Plunkett made none).
