Always buy a larger safe than what you need. If it says 24 it will hold 12 comfortably. If it will hold 60 it will hold 30 comfortably and so on and so on. If you only have 12 long guns, get a safe that holds 60 so you can have room to grow. Or get a 30 gun if your not wanting to grow your collection. Always go bigger
I have the same safe you have. It was purchased to fit in a closet hence the small size. It doesn't take much work to remove the factory provided shelves and configure it to your needs. Mine currently will not hold any long guns as I have it configured for handguns and other toys. Two suggestions: As someone else said, remove the ammo and use that side to double the capacity. Another is to place some of the guns upside down, using gun socks or something similar to avoid banging them up. Whatever you do be sure to bolt it down.
Pool noodles - I can’t tell you how much crap I do with pool noodles- 🤣take one - cut a slit- slide it on then cut a groove for that rifle to sit- it will be away from the rack. Otherwise you my friend need a larger safe soon.
it would be obvious that the advertised capacity doesn't include the scopes. they never said what kind of guns either lol. A serious problem would be the safe locks you out or something that sacrifices the safety from theft. wtf
That's a small problem I had one. Had a small fire the damage the fire hose did to this safe was a nightmare. Digital lock would not work it took me a week to get into and all my guns had surface rust and it was molded.
Before I ordered this safe, I was told that if any of the long guns had scopes, I had to take them off to make room. I think this is a poor design, but since I don't own many long guns and prefer handguns its fine for my use. Plus 1 hour fire rating is a bonus for a safe of this size and price.
The serious issue is that a company advertised 24 long guns and you can't fit your 24 guns? I bet that you can get 24 long guns in there. 22 cals with no scope and staggered upside down every other one using both sides of the safe of course. They didn't misrepresent it. Just use common sense. You day dreamed and misinterpreted it for the larger guns that you have. :-) I have an 8 passenger Ford Expedition. But I bet it would only fit 6 people comfortably; especially if they are larger. :-)
Also keep in mind that with the advent of AR-15's,AK-47's and other "black guns" are configured differently and will not fit in traditional gun setups. I think the companies are looking at lever action rifles, bolt action rifles and hunting slide action & semi auto shotguns when they look at gun capacity.
I have the same unit and took out the shelves and used "rifle Rods" . It holds the twenty four now, but not as designed. Electronic lock quit working, of course it is more than two years old, so they didn't want to hear about it. I agree with your review, nice safe but. In Winchesters defense I think they all are similar. Only buy unscoped Lever actions and your good to go.
Have you tried putting the ones with big scopes in the back corners? Its not a fix, more of a band-aid I guess, But would think 2 guns with scopes one in each corner would fit ok.
I have the 26. But in reality, they use like 10/22s for the measurement. Anything bigger than a basic hunting rifle, and the capacity goes down. Basically, dont go by the max number, take that max number and cut it in half
Any one who thinks a gun safe will hold all the guns they claim it will also thinks it will protect the guns from fire and burglers most safe company fire rating s or b.s. and most can be pried open with large screwdrivers most gun safes or just begging to be broken into. Put a sign on it that says here's all my good shit
Justin Russell Your correct . I purchased the same safe because I can’t really afford anything more plus I don’t have the space , so this was perfect for me. I live in an apartment so I have a good alarm system, this way hopefully they won’t have time to pry it .
When they say 24 long guns, they are talking about not having all the shelving on the right side (which would probably be a tight fit for that many guns anyway) But really you shouldn't lock up or Firearms and Ammunition in the same safe / cabinet. If a kid or someone get's into one they will only have one or the other, not both.
Get all their shelving out, except for the top one. Make a sliding gun rack with a 3" divider so on one side you could put scoped rifles and on the other shotguns. And on the other end if you could make a drawer unit all the way to the top shelf about 50"-52" high. If you are the do it ur self guy, 200$ spent at Home Depot, you can customize it to your needs. Vis-a-Vis you'd have a custom interior for 5-10% cost of buying a new gun safe with same issues. For design clues check reed custom safes web or amsec BRF interiors. You can even get inside panel of an old fridge door with similar dimensions, u 'd have a way better way of organizing and storage capacity than the browing style door mounted bags. Good luck.
This is common on all gun safes and not even close to a SERIOUS problem. If you do some research, the way to buy a safe is figure about half of the specified capacity. This is a non issue for this safe.
Buy at least an Amsec 6032. They make Jewelery and gun safes. Decent fire and security. I actually ended up with a CF5524, with TL-30 certification. Most of the safes suggested barely make a RSC certification. It actually cost many times the safe contents, but it's one heck of a deterrent.
Cut the number in half if you have scopes and long mags. 24 would be long rifles bare stacked side by side, no way it's possible. 5 or 6 with scopes on either side is what's to be expected.
Here's an idea in stuffing your safe with more rifles that the rated capacity. Place your rifles in gun socks and pack them in there. It doesn't matter then if they touch. They are well protected from each other. You can buy the gun socks or make them yourself. Sack-Ups makes them in all different sizes including scoped rifles. To identify them place a tag on each one. The ones you use the most you put up front.
ese hombre You are correct. I did the same thing. Gun socks rock. Labeling is smart, I didn’t do that but I sectioned out my safe to where I keep shotguns in one slot, bolt/lever/pump action rifles in another and semi auto in another so that it’s somewhat organized.
EVERY safe manufacturer does the same thing. If there is nothing but long guns. No shelves, racks. Just an all open cabinet. I have the "52 gun size. And it barely holds 15.
They are all the same, the long gun capacity is only about half what will actually fit. You might get 24 lever actions in there using both sides, but almost everything else is wider.
I bought the same safe from Sam's Club. The locking mechanism inside the door failed, requiring a locksmith to open it by drilling. The lock components were found installed incorrectly at the factory. Total cost: $700.00. Winchester (Granite Safe Co.) has ignored phone, fax, and e-mail attempts by me to recover my costs. This 2-year old safe was supposed to have a 4-year limited manuf. warranty against defects. As far as I'm concerned, both the product and the manuf. are trash.
Dward Thomas sorry to hear I just purchased the same one hopefully I don’t have the same issue , I know it’s a cheap safe but that’s all I can afford, better than nothing at all. I have a good alarm system and pray for the best.
What they don't tell you is what kind of long guns they are referring to. It may very well hold close to 24 Marlin model 60's that were not scoped. I made a similar mistake several years ago when I bought my first Amsec safe. Did plenty of research and purchased an Amsec BF 66X36 four years ago. Now my cheap long guns are housed in the smaller safe. Chalk it up to the learning curve and move on.
I have a bigger problem the LG lock just quit working. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR. I was in the safe Sunday went to a shooting match and put my guns away at the end of the day. I tried to open the safe today and handle would not turn after I entered the combination. It is a Winchester gun safe. Anyone HELP.
If you want to make a point or recover your costs, try small claims court. As long as the safe was sold in your county. If it was bought elsewhere, it might not be worth it.
First thing I thought: it's Hank from Breaking Bad! Haha! Seriously though, everyone has this complaint. Allllllll safe manufacturers overstate long gun capacity. It's marketing.
SafeLogic Xtreme is the way to go, to hell with a key pad. I have a higher end Winchester 2500 pounds & does not have a key. Get rid of that electronic lock. Also put a LED light in there that you can leave on that generates some heat to act as a dehumidifier. Just try calling Winchester, I bet they don't answer the phone. Trust me replace that Lagard key pad while it still works
All safe "capacity ratings" are just as deceiving. I say deceiving because if they really wanted to have truth-in-advertising they'd say 24 skinny, unscoped rifles..... Oh - & NO bolt action rifles unless the bolts are removed and stored elsewhere (so you'll forget them on your next elk hunt to remote Idaho). The ONLY safe with an accurate rating is the Pendelton line of circular safes (& the Revolution line which is "Pendelton inspired").
I have been trying to get in touch with Winchester Safe Company using the "contact me" portion of their website for over a month and have yet to hear from them. I have contacted them on 3 separate occasions offering both my e-mail and cell phone to no avail. With that in mind, one has to wonder how you would get in touch with them in case you did have a disaster and wanted to something taken care of with their supposedly "best warranty in the industry" claim. I checked and could see no fine print on that advertisement on the outside of the safe saying something to the effect of "only if we damn well happen to check our "contact section" and feel like contacting our customers. I thought I was making the right decision with this safe, my second, but apparently I made a terrible mistake in judgement. Den
Stuff4guys you must have serious issues with just about everything. That 24 gun capacity means upto 24 guns depending on the interior design you set up. Don't blame the product all the safes are like that. Get rid of all that extra crap in your safe and you will get 24 or more. That MPG on you car/truck depends on your setup and driving skills and that 1/2 MOA on your rifle depends on your shooting skills.
So you got the cheap safe from china with a browning logo on the front. It's so cheap that Browning doesn't even list them on their web site. GOOD BUY, haha
You should delete this video. You sound like you’re trying to differentiate between Pam and Pamn. Like you’re wearing a tuxedo to a job interview for a job that entails cleaning toilets.. delete this please, save yourself further embarrassment.
dude this is any safe...........why don't you ask the gov't to regulate common sense......
"You might be able to fit 24 pieces of rebar" thanks- haven't laughed that hard in a while!
So what's the "serious" problem?
You always but a bigger safe than you think you need.....Lesson learned.
Always buy a larger safe than what you need. If it says 24 it will hold 12 comfortably. If it will hold 60 it will hold 30 comfortably and so on and so on. I thought you were going to say how it's a glorified tin can. Never expected you to complain about the advertised gun capacity.
Scott Spencer Yeah, I wonder if he also bought a "Smart" Car and then posted a video how he can't put more than two people in it.
Pool noodles - I can’t tell you how much crap I do with pool noodles- 🤣take one - cut a slit- slide it on then cut a groove for that rifle to sit- it will be away from the rack.
Otherwise you my friend need a larger safe soon.
Stop think like girly, when they claimed 24 rifles meaning without scope and pack together like sardines without any crap and shelves.
If your long gun has a scope it counts as two, same if it has a magazine or pistol grip. AR 15 with scope = 3
I guess that's why they say buy a safe for double the amount of guns you have. lol
it would be obvious that the advertised capacity doesn't include the scopes. they never said what kind of guns either lol. A serious problem would be the safe locks you out or something that sacrifices the safety from theft. wtf
So true i ran into the same problem this safe sucks for long guns and also they dont supply you with a additional long shelf
i fit 9 in my 10 gun plus a shit load of ammo. took some creative placement but still bought another 24 to sit next to it. lol
That's a small problem I had one. Had a small fire the damage the fire hose did to this safe was a nightmare. Digital lock would not work it took me a week to get into and all my guns had surface rust and it was molded.
Ranger 31 for me. I figure a 30 gun cap will be good for 10-12 realistically.
Before I ordered this safe, I was told that if any of the long guns had scopes, I had to take them off to make room. I think this is a poor design, but since I don't own many long guns and prefer handguns its fine for my use. Plus 1 hour fire rating is a bonus for a safe of this size and price.

WOW that is a big problem. That kinda makes me wonder about the free replacement after fire or burglarly...
all gun safes have the issue where in you can never fit the amount of long guns thatbit says.
I see that mariner and I tip my hat to you sir
Have you tried putting the ones with big scopes in the back corners? Its not a fix, more of a band-aid I guess, But would think 2 guns with scopes one in each corner would fit ok.

get some rifle rods and lose the rests

strongly agree
All the gun safes I've seen are this way. It's really annoying

Dude...same issue with every date I’ve ever seen or owned: stack on, rhino, liberty etc
All safes are like that. I have the 18 gun model with 2 side by side 12s and 2 ARs and it's full.🤣
They are all the same, the long gun capacity is only about half what will actually fit. You might get 24 lever actions in there using both sides, but almost everything else is wider.
I didn't even know they made automatic shot guns.
Research tells you that all safes will hold 1/2 the capacity of what their specs are.
Wow, and my car doesn't get 30 gal per mile either.
They do not account for Scopes and huge elephant killing guns. They most likely they are using 22 Ruger rifles to come up with 24 guns per cabinet.
I bought the same safe from Sam's Club. The locking mechanism inside the door failed, requiring a locksmith to open it by drilling. Should have gotten the Big Daddy XLT
That might help a little but still wont get you to the full amount.
Add more by barrels down 6 up and 6 down
I have a bigger problem the LG lock just quit working. IT WILL NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR. I was in the safe Sunday went to a shooting match and put my guns away at the end of the day. I tried to open the safe today and handle would not turn after I entered the combination. It is a Winchester gun safe. Anyone HELP.
What happened? Did you get a locksmith?
I looked at many safes if it said 8 you can plan on 4 if its 16 no way maybe 9 at best if you like your rifles to look nice and neat
You gotta pack them in there like sardines! They are always say off with their capacities.
If you want to make a point or recover your costs, try small claims court. As long as the safe was sold in your county. If it was bought elsewhere, it might not be worth it.
That safe door leaves a pretty big gap for a crowbar to pry it open.
Even if you had a 10 ft titanium bar...still wouldn't do shit. Literally one of the dumber comments I've seen on CZcams
If it helps you out at all I could store one of the Ak's in my safe for you...
Try staggering your long guns every other one upside down.
They meant 24 BB guns. LMAO
First thing I thought: it's Hank from Breaking Bad! Haha! Seriously though, everyone has this complaint. Allllllll safe manufacturers overstate long gun capacity. It's marketing.
Well No Shit Sherlock! My two car garage doesn't fit either of my trucks either yet it's still called a two car garage!!!
The first clue that it was a piece of shit should have been that they sell them at Sam's.
Bro you should’ve just done moreresearch before buying
every gun safe has this "serious issue"
SafeLogic Xtreme is the way to go, to hell with a key pad. I have a higher end Winchester 2500 pounds & does not have a key. Get rid of that electronic lock. tare the shit out of one side, not needed
Try staggering them and put your scope to the side
May 24 3/4" conduit sticks
You do know that they included long guns for the right side as well right........
All safe "capacity ratings" are just as deceiving. I say deceiving because if they really wanted to have truth-in-advertising they'd say 24 skinny, unscoped rifles..... This is all gun safes.
Buy a bigger safe,DOOFUS.
Jim Basler Lol 😂 great answer 😂😂😂😂😂
Serious issues. 🤔. Measure before you buy.

Gee, I don't know...how about you actually call them, at the number they provide you on their website?
No safe holds as many as it saids it does
I think they used .22 crickett's to rate the safe
Not a SERIOUS ISSUE- I feel click baited
This is with any safe.
50mm? Jesus.
Winchester sold its name to a Chinese company from what I heard
No different than any other safe like that
Search youtube for Rifle Rods in Action.
24 Pieces of rebar.. LOL

Haha!!! 24 pieces of rebar haha
There all the same
Do you mean cheez with that whine?? I was thinking the same thing.
If you bought it without looking inside first you are the one with the serious issue.
Just purchase a twin to the one you own now and put them side by side if you have the room or when you truly need more room. Cheers
dude... if you know how to shoot, you need just one or two guns max. whats'a matter for you?
You really need no guns with that brain of yours. You sound like a liberal. SMFH
So you got the cheap safe from china with a browning logo on the front. It's so cheap that Browning doesn't even list them on their web site. GOOD BUY, haha
Winchester Safes are the worst safes and even worse support!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!
Made in China
You bought it, now you’re crying about it. YOU should have taken your time to research this product. Failure to do so it your fault! Stop crying
Your an idiot, Browning dosent make a maxus safe... Just checked their site maxus shotgun, no safe!
You should delete this video. You sound like you’re trying to differentiate between Pam and Pamn. Like you’re wearing a tuxedo to a job interview for a job that entails cleaning toilets.. delete this please, save yourself further embarrassment.
