I purchased this exact safe on Black Friday. Got it all set up, and had no issues with it, The set up was easy, programming the lock worked the first time too. It was in the original, brand new box. Sounds like you purchased a "Floor Display Model". That will change the score for sure, I give mine a 5 Star rating. It is just what I need.

This video is mostly BS. I own this same safe. He acted like he couldn’t get in it. If he had access to the manual, the keys were in it to open it. As for the design, if he didn’t like it he shouldn’t have purchased it!

It's not BS. He stated he liked it for what it was and was going to work for him. He did let people know that if the combo did not work to get in that most likely Tractor Supply changed the code. He also let people know you may not get any help moving the safe to the front of your truck or tie it down. What's with you? Did you not watch the entire thing? He also let people know if you were to call Winchester you may have a long wait in getting an answer and it may not be the one you were wanting.

it’s a $500 safe. If you want all the bells and whistles and top quality, go buy a safe at that price point. I love this safe. Is it the best? no. Does it work good enough? yes. For comparison. My father had safe from liberty safe and it was broken into as well. Everyone was away for the weekend and the bad guy had plenty of time. lock’s only keep honest people out.

I agree I’ve never seen a safe accommodate the number of guns on the label and also agree that going off CS.
I was told the TSC resets the code when they receive them as most use 1-2-3-4-5-6 as a generic code and didn’t want people getting hurt or locked in them.

I got one of these safes and immediately scrapped the interior parts and just built what I wanted out of 3/4 plywood. I basically kept the carpet on the walls, floor, ceiling and then built my own U shaped border with notches that would keep the rifles from falling over, no center divider. Then I built a shelf to support the provided shelf because it looked like it was about to buckle when I put even the tiniest bit of weight on it. I planned this from the time I looked at the safe from Tractor Supply. I use it for AR's mostly so I have a lot of room on the top shelf.

I had the opposite experience with my local Tractor Supply store when we bought this safe. Our sales person was very helpful and went out of her way to facilitate the ordering and delivery of the safe that saved me approximately $200 in shipping and handling expense. The safe was delivered by a freight company into my garage as was promised. We purchased it on black Friday and there were some system issues happening and she got on the phone with TSC customer service to ensure that the order was received and all delivery arrangements were made properly. In addition, she also did some suggestions for accessories that would be helpful for lighting and humidity. I understand that this is a lower end safe but I would also state that it is a good value for what you are spending and is a good starting point for my son's needs.

Nice detailed video. I got the TS26-45 and so far I’m loving it.. you probably bought the display safe that’s why the default code was changed. When I bought my safe they had one of each model open on the floor and they had different codes set on them for display purposes, my safe was unopened and still in the box when I got it. I know it’s not the best safe out there but for my budget and what I have it should be solid.

I have this exact same safe. I fit 42 rifles in mine. Mix between shotguns, AR's AK's and bolt actions. I just used rifle rods. Also fit about 20 pistols using magnetic mounts on the side drilled into the sides, and pistol hangers. No optics though. I have those in a separate safe where I store all my ammo. I did replace the top shelf with carpeted 1/2" plywood with a cutout on the left side for my 2 longer rifles.

Great video review. I bought this Winchester model on sale for $499 at Tractor Supply. I agree it's not the best safe in the world, but for me it fits my needs. I had the 12 gun model that would not even hold 6 long guns and no real room for ammo at all. This 36 gun model has room for my long guns and all of my ammo. So I am happy with it. Thanks again.

I just bought this safe today and upon initial inspection of it at Tractor Supply it was very clear that this was not a safe conducive to holding any amount of long guns. I have a collection of 40 handguns, one ar15, one defensive shotgun, and plenty of ammunition that I would like to store. For that purpose it will work just fine but I can't imagine someone buying this safe knowing that their primary use will be for multiple long guns, oh well

One thing I wondered was the hole you put in it for the cord would it need to be sealed with some kind of a fire safe sealer? I mean to help it during a fire. I think it needs any help it can get. Very honest review. The safe has its place. It would work for somebody that cant afford the better ones i guess. Hope the family is doing well. Be safe buddy.

I went looking for a secondary safe yesterday. Since I'm not too keen on Liberty anymore I was looking for another manufacturer. The Winchester TS36-45 safe is on sale at TSC right now for $499. Does this safe feel fairly cheaply made? Yes. But for the price point you're getting pretty much what you pay for.

The 36 gun claim, as well as the 45 minute fire rating are less than realistic, yes. But they are no different than any other manufacturer. Metal shelf cleats and homemade plywood shelves are cheap and easy, if you don't like the ones it came with. The store that sold this unit failed by not telling the buyer how to access. I have this exact unit. My long shotguns (2) fit nicely just inside the door, on the sides of the safe, without affecting the shelves at all. The keypad failed after a couple months, but at least I had a key and could still get in. And after some back and forth emails to TSC/Winchester about the battery, they mailed me a new keypad at no charge, which has been working fine so far. Overall, very satisfied with this box, at this price point.

Stand your tall shotgun inside the lip on the left of the door, problem solved. I’ve had a Winchester safe for 3-4 years now and it’s still in perfect working condition. My safe came with instructions for setting/resetting the code. Looks like you bought a floor model, mine came in a box new. These aren’t the best by far but these are much better than most in price range imo. Money wasn’t an object I still wouldn’t buy a Liberty, I’d get a custom safe, they aren’t that much more.

The 24 gun safe seems to be more practical. The idea that 36 guns can fit in yours is insane. The 24 gun safe seems to be more realistic in their rating, if not quite 24. My needs are a safe that will keep casual home burglars from getting any guns, if they get in while I am not home. Nobody wants to attempt to haul a 350 pound safe they happened to come across because they are not equipped for it, unless they knew about it ahead of time, and no one will know ahead of time. I don't advertise. With this in mind, the 24 gun safe will fit my needs just fine. It has a cut-out in the top shelf already, which will work well for my 52 1/2 inch long Schmidt Rubin, without the bayonet attached. ;)

I’m of the opinion that no gun safe is perfect. Yes some are better then others. Mine came just as the Manuel said code wise. Had zero problems. While I’m not convinced of 36 guns, I think it also depends on what firearms your putting into it. Plastic clips can be upgraded although not by Winchester. Same with the shelves. While I value your opinion, based on the points you talked about it’s completely subjective.

I am thinking about getting one of these for my barn at my farm to keep the guns in we hunt the farm with. A metal building what can go wrong? Not crazy about the set up and may need to modify for scoped rifles but we will see when we get there. Nice video.

My husband wanted into it to get to something of mine and I was SHOCKED TO FIND PUT THIS SAFE WAS NOT BURGLAR PROOF! Twist the lock as though you are going to put in a battery and were the ribbon is move it slightly and put a clothes hanger end inside the slot and move it until it catches and the door opens right up!! I fixed this problem with silicone!! But I think you could take the back off the door and put in a metal plate!! I’m very upset that this safe is so easy to break into!!

If you watched that hole was already there with a plug, it's meant for running electrical into the safe, for lights and dehumidifier. I guess you have to drill through the inside material, and yeah they don't mention anything about it in the manual.

There’s a whole a$$ slot in the upper shelf specifically for longer guns such as your shotgun. Do better.

DO NOT CALL THAT A GUN SAFE. Best reviews come from thieves. That thing can be pried open ,with a 12" flat bar, in 1.5 minutes. You have a box to keep your kids out of. after mine was pried open, and the tool left behind, and the thousands of dollars I lost, and Winchesters demand for a police report for warranty. Pictures and serial number were not good enough. I wouldnt secure dog food in that painted box. the weight is sheetrock inside tinfoil.

This review is mine boggling. Guy buys a small safe and tries to to put large guns in it. That’s like me buying a mid sized truck and complaining I can’t tow my 12,000lb excavator with it.

A safe claiming to have a gun capacity of 36 doesn't sounds small to me.

It's a cheap safe, what did you expect? You act like you weren't allowed to look at it before you bought it.
