- As of April 2024, there are concerns of a TikTok ban in the USA as President Joe Biden signed the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act - which makes Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok, face an ultimatum: sell TikTok to an American company within 12 months or face a TikTok ban in the USA. In this video I look into this TikTok news and share my thoughts as a Canadian creator on how TikTok got banned. I also talk about how this will impact creators and just my thoughts on why this matters - why it is bad for a social media platform to get banned, especially one this big. TikTok would probably just be merged into YT Shorts, and it’ll remain on YT, or TikTok would remain a separate app, but take on the YT Shorts name instead.
I actually wouldn't even mind if google bought tiktok and turned in into YT shorts.
They'd probably merge it and make it "CZcams TikTok" kind of like CZcams Music, where it'd be its own app also accessible through main CZcams with limited feature.
Taking on the CZcams Shorts name or merging into CZcams shorts would make zero actual sense. Tiktok already has a fairly strong and very recognisable brand identity. The best thing to do would just be to coast off of that.
