    Awesome video. Part is $20 from Ford dealer and took 30 minutes to replace completely.

    Thank for the clear and concise video! I have done work like this before so it wasn’t totally impossible and the plastics isn’t too brittle yet. I did manage to break the retainer/guide in the door pull cable. It didn’t take much. I put it all back together and everything works fine so I am guessing the weak point in the clip cable guide doesn’t do much. I will order a new part and keep my fingers crossed. New strap is super quiet. 2017 SCREW Lariat

    My 2016 f150 is having the same issue. Drives me nuts!! I thought grease would do the trick but I’m now learning the door check needs to be replaced. Great video by the way - thank you for your help!
    P.S. I noticed the bike helmets hanging on the wall. Do you MTB?

    Now that the door panel is removed Not sure how
    to disconnect the 3 cables ? You make it look to easy
    Is there a trick ?

      No trick I think I explain that one swift pull should pop the door panel off .

    Is it best to buy this part from Ford or aftermarket? All my doors have this problem, and I hesitate to buy from Ford if it's only going to last a few years like the original ones did.

      So being a Ford Tech I’m going to say stay with OEM the aftermarket world is garbage right now

    I have a question does this have to do anything with your door being un leveled , like opening it and slightly coming down and when you close it comes up?

  • @dhinojosa82
    @dhinojosa82 Před 2 lety

    What keeps it from squeaking again? My truck has 30k miles on it and is already squeaking bad.

    • @ShallowHookerFishing

      Hate to say it these were my second set also first at 35k and second at 75k and there Ford parts.

  • @eddielane9569
    @eddielane9569 Před rokem

    Instead of replacing it why not try silicone grease deep into the check body to see if that will fix your squeak?

    • @ShallowHookerFishing
      @ShallowHookerFishing  Před rokem

      So when the check squeaks it may also be pulling out of the rubber holder and when that pulls out and you closed the door you will destroy the mounting surface for the check. And then you will need a video to replace the door lol

    • @eddielane9569
      @eddielane9569 Před rokem

      @@ShallowHookerFishing it won't destroy the door it just won't close and then you will have to get a socket to remove the arm that is mounted to the body and then you can replace it.
