    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Squeaky car door fix is one more simple procedure you can surely do on your own.
You won't need any tools just some lubricant like a lubricant spray, lithium grease, engine oil or else.
Besides this, you can fix squeaky door hinges with WD-40 spray although this is short lived because as soon as the spray evaporates the squeaking will probably appear again.
The most common reason for a squeaky door hinge is the mechanism located between the door hinges. It's main purpose is to hold the door in place once it's open.
This mechanism gets corroded and filthy overtime which then causes the squeaky or screechy sound.
Door hinges rarely cause these problems but if you see a corrosion build-up and that the hinges are dry, lubricate them also.
Best use a lubricant spray as it's reach is the best.
Hope this video helps in making a squeaky door fix on your car!

The mechanism that you call it is called a Door Check. Don't use engine oil it is not designed for hinges. My door check on my 2004 GMC Sierra was squeaking and I sprayed it with a very good spray lubricant and it got 10 times worse so I took it off so I could spray it better and it didn't help. I believe it is recommended to you silicone grease on hinges and the door check. I'll have to get some to see if that will help otherwise I will replace it.

Hi Eddie and thanks for sharing and watching!
You're right, if the door check is damaged, lubrication won't help. But it's worth the try before starting the repair, I guess.
Regarding silicone grease, tried it in the form of a spray (if we're talking about the same thing) and to be honest it sort of evaporates quickly, especially during summer.
But it's certainly worth the try.
Thanks and all the best to you.

Wd40 is not a lubricant, it is a solvent.

so is this a temporary fix , how long does it last for ?

    • @DespairRepair
      @DespairRepair  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi and thanks for watching!
If the door stopper is the problem (dry but not damaged) and you use lithium grease, the fix should last at least a year.
If the hinges are the problem and you use some oil or grease spray and manage to lubricate them properly it should also last for a year, if not longer.
A minus to the longevity of repair is higher outside temperatures, if you live in a warmer climate it may last less.
This is from my own experience.
      All the best!

Do not put WD40 or any solvent based lubricant on the plastic check strap. YOU MUST USE a synthetic based lube on the plastic check strap such as silicone grease.
