At, "Thank you very much, goodnight", I couldn't help but spontaneously applaud- with relief - that it was over.
This may just have been a sub-par gig for Gadsby, but it was an uncomfortable experience sitting through this 8 minute set.
On the strength of this performance, I'd find it impossible to sit through a whole Gadsby gig. I imagine it would consist of a whole evening of unfunny: "I'm a lesbian, yes I am, I really am, sometimes I'm mistaken for a man, but I like it/get over it", gags.
I only lingered here to read the comments, which proved far more entertaining and funnier than Gadsby's performance.

Bro they showed the crowed and played the laugh track at the same time and no one was laughing in the crowd!!! You know you aren't funny when you are in the middle of the show and instead of people laughing they are "clapping" at least the laugh track put in a "clap track" because she brought up lesbians. There was not a single joke in 8 straight minutes I could only imagine what the rest of the special was like

Absolutely brilliant and improving with time. The material was funny and original and the delivery was flawless.
This guy here commented this and apparently actually found this funny. I don't understand how some people might enjoy this as opposed to someone like Dave Chapelle or Bill Burr or the several other scores of comedians who are actually funny.
The only time they laughed was to release the tension from holding their breath waiting for something to be funny.
